Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services beware of this scam!

I received credit card offer called horizon gold credit card. I filled out the application and found out that it was a scam because they said it was a credit card. Instead it is not. There is no listed phone number for the company. I do not know what to do because they charge my credit 79.95 within one day. I do not want this card. There is no customer service person to talk to.

Beware!

I was going to try to get this card but I just read reviews on this card and I will not be any longer. It does payoff to read all fine print on anything you ever sign or accept in any kind of case like this or anything period thanks to you guys reviews I just missed out on this horrible bad opportunity card that I thought was something that may actually benefit me and my family well know we know that this was never the attention of the card company if it even does exsist.

I've done some research on this card. Like some of the bloggers on here have said if you read the terms it does say that it is not a visa or mastercard. Lets be honest most of us never read the fine print . This deceptive company is counting on most of us not reading all the details. Which is our own fault. HOWEVER it is misleading because it says it reports to the 3 major credit bureaus as most major credit cards do SO there is an attempt to be deceptive. If they were a reputable company they would state on their postcard in big bold letters 'NOT A VISA OR MASTERCARD" that would solve the problem of people complaining. If the postcard was upfront from the start then people wouldn't have a gripe but like I said they are hoping we don't read all the terms. The company is obviously not an honest reputable company. Makes you wonder how some people sleep at night. But for all the people who have been scammed just take a little comfort in knowing that what comes around goes around...at some point these scamming bloodsuckers will get theres. Negative energy and knowing that you are trying to scam people on a daily basis is not a good way to make your living.

Whoever these people are on here that say this isn't a scam are ###ed. I was scammed out of $60 dollars by these @$$holes. What happened to me was, I opened my mail box one day and there was a postcard telling me I was promised a $5000.00 credit line, all I had to do was apply online. That was IT on the card. No fine print, no terms and conditions, NOTHING. I went to the website listed on the card, where it told me to pay a one time $79.99 charge in exchange for the credit line. Well I had a lot of bills to pay so it seemed like a fair deal. When I recieved the card, I realized I had been scammed. It was not a Visa or Mastercard like I had expected. It told me to go to thehorizonoutlet.com to use my credit line. I thought, damn, I cant use it to buy food or gas or pay bills. Oh well, at least I can buy diapers and other things I need for the baby online. But Nooooo...they don't have anything like that there. They have ugly, unwanted and obsolete products for 'sale', probably another company's garbage. Again, I thought, Damn. Well, I did see ONE product I wanted out of the whole website...a crappy hair straightener, which price was 29.99. I thought, well, at least I can get something I want. When I went to the checkout, it wanted a CREDIT CARD to pay for the s&h(which was $16.00)! They wouldn't just deduct it from my $5000 'credit line'. I then realized for sure this company had no credit to extend to me, even on the website. They only money those scam artists had was that of the people conned into paying for the card. I wasn't going to be fooled again into giving them more money! I called them up and they told me they had charged me $99.99, not the $79.99 I agreed to. I demanded my money back, they told me the most they could give me was $40.00 back. At least I got that much back, others were probably not so lucky. Now if that doesn't sound like a scam to you, I sincerely hope you get a catscan soon to make sure you don't have brain damage.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AND FOR MILLIE TO SAY IT ISN'T A SCAM. GIVE HER THAT BUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT BAD BUT WHAT IS A WORD UNDERNEATH THAT... THAT IS WHAT IT IS...HERE IS MY EMAIL TO THE GENERAL MANAGER AFTER CANCELING.
My first mistake was not reading the terms and that is on me. But then I took the protocols in order to cancel my membership. Instead of simply canceling my membership when I asked. I was refunded a partial and giving a 100 dollar voucher. I wasn't happy and if the tape can be replayed back over the uncertity ivoice will be heard. I accepted it but I ask the woman can I get my whole refund if I wasn't happy. I called to day and spoke to Dan to cancel. He was trying hard to keep me and when I didn't buy into the 500 dollar increase and wanted my money. After he say that he couldn't get me to stay. He went all 70's slogan with the "Aint no thing but a chicken wing." First of all I will filing a report with BBB on the grounds that he was being prejudice. I don't think he says that and I don't use that language on a day to day basis. He showed poor customer service and I am going to see how far I can take this because it was poor judgement on his part. I was professional about my accounter with him but sly remarks trying to speak the lingo that was significently tied to certain black actors and actresses would say in the 70's and early 80's. I am a single mother and work fulltime in the company have moved my way up. I am also putting myself through school. I don't try to let my race nor gender be my reasons for always using the should've, could've or would've syndrome. So he shouldn't have diluted my character based on that. Also customer service means that the even if it isn't true the customer is always right. If he was finding me difficult he should've just canceled or let another person took my call. I have winesses that heard my arguement. Then after he read my confirmation number he is going to say you are no longer or customer so whatever. I will have this posted with my BBB and [redacted].

I just wanted to say I'm thankful I found this web-site because I too was also an "idiot" Like the real Idiot said previously. If you read all the terms and conditions, it does say it is not a visa, or "real credit card" not in those words and it does say it's for use on only their web page. I also tried to find the web page to check out what they had and I couldn't find any such page. It's true though you should never have to pay to get a credit card. It's like those scams of winning a lottery in a country where you never bought a lottery ticket or visited!

Thanks for everyones comments because I almost did it myself.

I contacted the customer service department with the same complaint, they are charging my checking account 14.95 a month for services and I haven't even seen my card. I received an e-mail with a customer service number to reach the company, and here it is for those of you who would like to talk to a real representative.

I bought a horizon gold credit card, but can't use it. Because no website to put in card number in www.horizonoutlet.com and no other payment space for a credit card has only a card number. You have to put in a security code and expiration date too. It also has no logo. I tried to use it at a pharmacy too and it wouldn't work.

Beware people!

Promise $500 unsecured Credit Card with no credit check. Must pay $89.95 Application Fee and card is guaranteed. When you get card, it is not a "Major Credit Card"! No visa, MC,or anything else on back. No exp.or pin. Just a number that is good at their website for services that I already have: Towing service, some Rx program, and some crap.

They say it is a card to help you get your credit score up! But that is not the emphasis when they are selling the card to you!

I don't even know how i got signed up for this company all I know is I started seeing charges from them and I didn't even have the card! When I called to cancel the card they kept trying to tell me that I'd visited the sight and a bunch of other bull...they finally refunded me my $44.90, but get this, turned around and charged me again! When I called back a few days later, they were requesting a copy of my BANK statement to prove that they recharged me and refused to refund my money b/c "their computer" didn't show a charge. I told them in no uncertain terms that they could kiss my black a**, and they hadn't heard the last of me...TOTAL SCAM!

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services stay away from this card!

On May 08,2017 I signed up online for a Horizon credit card which to my knowledge I would be getting a master or visa card. I waited almost two weeks for it to arrive in the mail. In the mean time the company had immediately taken 86.99 out of my checking account. I was absolutely disappointed when my card had arrived and I soon realized I could only use it on the computer! When signing up I was never explained that! With out a doubt I will never refer anyone to this card! Do not use it!

This is the actual email I sent to these Yahoos - I have NEVER filed a complaint against any company. Like many others I not only feel deceived, but stupid. I consider myself to be a somewhat intelligent person. They sent me an email after I cancelled this card wanting to make sure I had 100% satisfaction...WOW!

Oh, so glad you finally sent me an email (never received the one I was told I
would receive when submitting this application) Once realizing what this card
was actually about and then doing research online, the ONLY contact information
I could find for your company was off of compliant websites. Most felt deceived
as I did. I would not recommend you advertise on CREDIT CARD websites as this is
not truly what this is. I can get a Fingerhut card and do the same thing.

I found a customer service contact number within the responses from your company
regarding the several hundred complaints and called immediately yesterday after
realizing the confirmation email was not coming through. I tried to call, but
your offices were closed. NOT a convenient thing when dealing with a "credit
card".

I called this morning and talked to a CSR who drilled me for questions on why I
wanted to cancel. Not just asked, DRILLED. Isn't one reason good enough? Once I
got past her, she then transferred me to a supervisor who asked me the SAME
questions again, yet pushed even harder to get me to keep the card. My reasoning
was still the same even after reading her script. I was disappointed at the
beginning of the call, but angered at the end. Once she realized that I was not
going to bite, she then turned somewhat nasty, her tone was very short on the
phone and barely got through the word "Thanks" before hanging up the phone.

I was refunded and this card was cancelled, thank goodness, but what I endured
to get there was not at all what one should experience when attempting to build
credit back up. Not everyone lives beyond their means, some have tragedies in
their lives which force them to get into debt, possibly file bankruptcy and have
to start all over from less than square one. Don't assume everyone is a deadbeat
and certainly don't treat them like one.

You may want to make your contact information available without needing to log
on to your site. People MAY just call ahead of time to get the information they
need to make an educated decision. It also MAY field some angry applicants who
have decided maybe this card was the wrong choice. Considering I filtered
through MANY complaints about your company prior to finding a customer service
number to call did not help in your attempt to save a customer.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services complete scam!

I just got in the mail this scamming companies ad. Its all too bad that the FTC does nothing to keeping these credit predators in check. TIP: To raise your credit, 3 credit cards no more no less, pay off all 3 every month so another words live within your means. Every month you do that, when reported to the credit agencies, you get an increase in you FICO score. Car loans do nothing for you until you pay it off. They are a scam too. Student loans lower your score no matter what. Pay them on time though or ask for deference’s or forbearances. You can in big trouble with them. Any medical you should make sure never get into your credit report. Home loans do wonders for credit. Pay off you student loans and your cars with home loans. Its cheaper and results in a better scoring when they get paid off. Again make sure you can afford it. Stay away from any credit card company that claims to report. Have them prove it and fully. Some companies only report certain information which can actually hurt you. Orchard bank and Household Finance are two great companies if you have bad credit and want to restore your credit. To learn more go to: http://www.creditinfocenter.com/Books/ and get all the books. You will be amazed what federal laws protect your good name.

I too was ripped off by Horizon Gold. I noticed right away that $79.95 was taken out of my acct 5 mins later after signing up, then I noticed that the site wasn't that descriptive and as I did more and more research I came about a list of sites with complaints about them. Right away I tried to call them and all I received was a busy signal, I called them about 10 different times and each time a busy signal, so I decided to call my bank, I told my bank that the company was a fraud and that I needed the charges reversed, they were glad to do so and they are now sending me a new card and closing the old one so that the company cannot charge my acct anymore. I advise anyone else to call their banks and do the same if you haven't already done so...ask for a dispute and tell them the company's a fraud, otherwise you never know, Horizon Gold.. if you get a hold of them, may tell you they'll credit you but may not actually do so, best bet is to call your bank.

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services cancellation never happened

To whom it may concern,

I had signed on for this card, thinking that it was a major credit card. Well, after discovering that it wasn't I waited a little bit and then called in January to have the card cancelled. The lady on the phone offered me a free month if I would just check out there store website again. I did so and then called back 17 days later and said "not interested" please cancel the card and the gentlemen on the phone said no problem... I since then have gotten a withdrawal on checking account for there monthly fee and I called this morning to talk to the supervisor and complain to him about getting that fee put back in my account. He told me he is sorry and can't do that because that fee is for last month. However, I had called and asked this account to be cancelled therefore there should have never been a charge to begin with. He again told me he could not issue a refund because this was for last month. Again I had called before last month and asked the card to please be cancelled. What can I do or complain to now about this company. I do believe this company to a be somewhat "scamful" in what they do to there customers and how there customer service policy is. Thank you for you time. I no longer have my membership ID because after calling in January to cancel the card I threw the card out so you should be able to get all information from my last name.

I paid $79.95 for this supposed credit card. I went on-line and saw that the services that they provide are not even worth paying for. You have to "double-pay" in order to get the information that they claim you get for free, i.e., credit reports, roadside assistance, cash advances, supposed discounts on gas - PLEASE!!! I was able to access one of their...

Horizon Gold / Horizon Card Services dishonest business practices!

I signed online for this card February 2, 2007, thinking that it was a mastercard or visa. I waited two weeks for the card to arrive. Meanwhile then took the 79.95 from my account immediately. When the card arrived I was stunned to see that it was neither a mastercard nor a visa. You have to log into a site and shop for their products and they say they report this to TransUnion. I sent two emails immediately for they was closed. I told them that I thought they were dishonest and that they had deceived me. The very next day I got three emails from this company and also called and was told they would credit me 34.95 back to my account. I said I would contact my attorney general office, then I was place on hold. Okay, we will credit you 59.95 back. I said, you took 79.95 from me, I want all my money back for I never used any of your services nor did I order any of your junk. Needless to say, 20.00 is still outstanding and it will fight for it. Below is a couple of emails from this company.

Denese-

We have canceled your account. Cancellation confirmation is 31647. Also, your refund of $59.95 was processed, it should appear back in your account in 24-72 hours.

Thanks-
Amber

Dear Denese,

I am sorry that you feel you were "scammed". First and foremost, remember that the Horizon Gold Card was designed to help people re-establish their credit. Is this what you are looking to do? It's difficult and very risky to offer high-end items to a customer base that is rebuilding credit. Plus, large items are expensive to ship.

Credit works the same whether you are using a credit card on a shopping site or to purchase gas. Our card is a true credit card that reports back to a major credit bureau every 30 days.

We do have a partner site we can provide you with that offers a Visa. They do require an employment check as well as a credit check. Is your credit score high enough to support being approved for a Visa right now?

Being very familiar with our advertising, I know that Horizon Card Services does not advertise our Gold Card with a Visa or MasterCard logo. That WOULD be deceitful. We also make ALL Terms and Conditions available to applicants during the application process. I've attached a copy in order for you to review again.

We do require all of our customers wishing to cancel to call our Member Services at toll free 1.800.251.6144.

Thank you,
Kim

Subject: Feedback

I am very disappointed in this company. I never thought I was getting a card to shop online for the garbage that I see on the site. I really feel scammed by this company and will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. I never thought that once you took the 79.95 from my account that I was not getting a credit card (visa or mastercard) you have deceived me and I am really upset about this. Your merchandise is trash.

DENESE BROWN.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!

I have received lots of emails from those who have been scammed as I have or have their own doubts about the company. Most have requested a valid number to call. Here is the number to call immediately to cancel.

I was lead to believe the card could be used in multiple places. Lots of hidden charges. I am on social security and cannot afford this type of card. I feel like I am being taken advantage of and want a refund on their initial fee of $29.95 and cancel card.
