I bought a picture frame at a Goodwill for the day approaching soon when I will be putting together a display at my mother's Celebration of Life. She is in hospice and I have been working to collect pictures to display. I bought a beautiful frame for $3.99. Not bad. But it took me a while to get around to figuring out which picture to use it for. When I finally did and went to take the sticker off the front, it destroyed the frame. By then I did not have the receipt but still had the sticker clearly showing it was from Goodwill and the price. I went back to the store and they flatly refused to give me store credit to get another frame. I get it. I didn't have the receipt. But it was clearly from the store and the frame was clearly destroyed. Which was their fault due to the way they had put the sticker on. I'm sure people try to take advantage of them. But they are taking advantage of us all the time. They get free donations and mark them up to ridiculous prices. I grew up shopping at thrift stores so we could make ends meet. Goodwill's prices are often more expensive than getting that same item new. CRAZY! They also do not seem to be helping anyone other than the shareholders and top management who make big salaries. Thus I encourage everyone to donate elsewhere, shop elsewhere, and do not support this place which is not showing good will at all. I tried uploading a picture but it will not accept it.
Recommendation: Be careful of purchasing anything at Goodwill!!
