Member since 2019, today I attempted to get in a 20 minute workout after a 11 hour work shift. Being a healthcare worker & working mom it's always challenging to make time for the gym zumba class. Today however was by far the most humiliating, degrading & discriminatory encounter I have encountered in my entire life with chatsworth fitness 19's new gym manager michelle chaves. I entered the gym as I always do scanning my gym card as I enter the gym to try and attempt a 20 minute workout but not today. I was encountered by a new staff member a young female who I have never seen at fitness 19 before today started hollering as though I had stolen someone's purse yelling " you have over due fee's! & repeating it for now everyone entering & focusing their attention on me to see what was going on. I walked to the front counter and replied with excuse me... You have over due fees! I replied with no I do not my membership is paid every month, I then asked if we could discuss this after my work out being that my class would now end in 15 minutes. Apparently it's against fitness 19 per michelle chaves to hold my personal account information private but but fitness 19 policy is apparently ok with shouting your account info for everyone to hear. Being a long standing member with a excellent reputation when it comes to paying my annual fee and monthly fee is worthless to fitness 19 franchise owned gyms. I explained to michelle that my bank account info that was once linked to my monthly membership was hacked and being that fitness 19 was the only linked payment to my account I closed my account and discussed with the previous manager that I would not longer link any of my personal financial information to my account again. Unfortunately it was never corrected and my old account info continues to be charged and a late fee is automatically charged. I tried explaining to michelle that the late fee error is not my fault and that payment is being made every month online. Not only did michelle roll her eyes and act as though I had reason to lie but I also showed proof of my last payment to her on my phone app when it was charged to my account to which she still questioned. I have never been embarrassed, humiliated & demeaned like I was today by such a poorly trained manager. After dealing with enough embarrassment by this character I decided to walk out with my dignity & class before I lowered my standards and engaged with such poor business practices to which michelle felt it was appropriate to chase after me into the parking lot to which I continued to ignore her aggressive inappropriate behavior. Hollering, yelling and asking if I could hear her and continuing to follow me. To which I ignored and continued walking to my car with my dignity intact. Disgusted that any company like fitness 19 would allow franchise owned businesses to apply such poor practices with a company name attached to it like fitness 19 is surely going to in the near future continue to tarnish all the hard work & reputation that is known as a family started business to a now low budget, sloppy unorganized business.
