Expedia Unable to use flight credits before the expiration time.

My husband and I had Alaska Airlines flight credits through Expedia that were to expire December 31, 2021. We could not plan to use them until that day due to many reasons. I started a chat around 7:15pm with a virtual agent who could not help and tried to get a live agent. A live agent was not available. There were two phone numbers to call. I call the first one 1-866-316-0357 at 7:04pm then at 7:06pm and waited 41 minutes with no response. I tried a chat again with no success. I called the second number 1-866-310-5768 that gave the wait time as 8 hours. I hung up and called the first number again at 7:52pm and kept the call open for over two hours then I gave up.

In the meantime, I filed a complaint through the expedia.co.uk customer service website. I chose the wrong website for the US customer service but it still worked.

This is my message:

To Whom It May Concern,
Covid changed our lives for the foreseeable future. The decision to travel has not been an easy one. My husband and I made plans to go to Hawaii. It wasn't until this week it would be possible. I was in the queue to talk to agent December 31, 2021. I have Alaska Airlines credits to use. I called 7pm mountain time and waited hours on one phone number. I finally hung up just before midnight believing I would not be able to talk to an agent. The other phone number given said the wait was 8 hours! Of course that would have been around 4am! I realize your agents were taking care of many, many customers but Expedia should have anticipated the number of customers who would try to rebook that day with more agents.

I have been a loyal customer with Expedia for over 30 years. I have enjoyed the excellent experience using Expedia for booking from flights to car rentals to hotel reservations. I am so disappointed I cannot use my credits through Expedia! The only recourse given to me by a live agent is to contact the airlines directly. I believe this is what Expedia should do.

I and other customers are in the same situation as me. Please restore our confidence in using Expedia for our future travel needs and find a way to use the credits. I am sorry to say if I cannot be helped this will be the last time I use Expedia.

Expedia's response is not acceptable! This is more than an inconvenience! It's not my or your customers' fault that Expedia did not have enough agents to serve their requests on December 31st knowing there were many airline credits expiring that day and were left with no other way to contact Expedia. I know I am not the only one dissatisfied from reading about this issue on other websites.

My credits did not expire when I called and waited on the phone. A proper solution would have let those in the queue before midnight be allowed to complete their business instead of penalizing them. Treating your customers this way will lose Expedia business. You've lost me. I have spent thousands for your services, which until now, I have been happy with.

I will continue to pursue this matter with management above you.

I got the biggest surprise with Expedia! I checked back on my credit page and lo, and behold, the Alaska airlines credit expired January 10, 2022 instead of the December 31, 2021. I started a chat with an Expedia agent and explained that I would have booked flights if I knew of the new deadline. He apologized and offered a refund! I guess I just happened to get a considerate agent. Doesn’t hurt to continue to make contact a few times. You always get someone new.

I was going to travel with my daughter to Chicago from Puerto Rico in April 2020. Covid changed those plans and our hotel payment was reimbursed. But our American Airlines tickets were 'credit' . Since we couldn't travel and no refund was offered I would check Expedia to see when I could get my flight vouchers on AA. In December 2021 Expedia site told me redeemable by October 31st 2022 so I was planning summer trip with my 'credits' (my money).

In January 2022 Expedia informs me I must use the American Airlines tickets by March 31 2022. Now my flight credits besides my wife who was travelling a day later have vanished.

It seems Expedia is totally unreliable and I am out my $1000 dollars in hard earned money and my daughters anticipation. Robber barons and frauds exploiting a human crisis...

Expedia Car rental from rent a car 4 less

I rented a car thru Expedia here is my experience: Rented a car in FLL Location in Dec They push insurance very hard even thought I had purchased the Insurance thru Expedia at time of rental plus I had my own personal that covers as well was constantly told they do not cover all that was needed in Florida lie number 1 I rent 3 times a year in Florida they even kept sending me e- mail to add insurance. It was a VW Silver Convertible one headlight was out the other loose inside the light housing, the windshield washer water did not work, gas millage was 15.5 in city 22 in highway when I went to fill up there was no gas cap, I inform them was told their cars do not have gas cap that is a fire liability. Not to mention a $1000 deposit do not be fool by low prices. I have all pictures and e-mail corresponded from them to prove the above.

Expedia can't use my flight credit due to website error

Hi

My name is Dr Konstantinos Vazouras and I am writing to file a complaint against Expedia.
I have been trying to chat several times last few days and it goes nowhere.
I am currently on hold for 56 minutes (!) on your help line; a lady answered 3 minutes ago, got my itinerary details and put me on hold again... (+[protected])
My itinerary rebooking date ends today and I need to make my flight booking urgently, but it has been a nightmare.
The website/app do not work; when clicking on "use credit" an error message appears.
What am I supposed to do? Lose my $306.60 credit? I already found the flight I need to book with same airline, but I am still on hold…. 1 hour 2 minutes now and counting…. My itinerary rebooking date ends today. Please help.
Why should I lose my credit because of Expedia incompetence?

Hi Dr Konstantinos Vazouras, I am in the same predicament! My wait was three hours from 7pm mountain time on one phone number. The other number gave the wait of 8 hours! You would think they would know Expedia would need many more live agents to handle the new reservations. I also could not do anything until the 31st. Now, I did ask the live agent if I had booked a flight with the credits, then cancelled within the 24 hours, I could extend the expiration date a year. But how would you know if it's not stated!

The advice given was to talk to Alaska Airlines to see if they will honor the credit. My credit is over $1000. They're policy is if there is a balance after using the credit you lose it. The other major airlines let you use them and keep the balance for another flight.

I have been an Expedia customer for over 30 years. You would think that would have some weight.

There is a non profit company that offers free advice. The website is https://www.elliott.org/help/.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Expedia Car rentals from economy rent a car (iceland)

Please drop Economy Rent a Car from your listings.

I rented a car through Expedia at KEF Iceland in September, and the local company rents VERY dangerous old cars. I do not want to provide my name to you, because they are fraudulent and many people have complained of unauthorized charges on their credit cards later -- plus they seem to be criminals, so I don't want them to have my name.

This is the link on Economy's webpage. Note the address is Njarðarbraut 11,
260 Reykjanesbær which matches the addresses for the various brand names they use:

But to be clear, I booked through Expedia's website. I returned the car several days early because it was dangerous.

These are very old cars with extremely high use - over 200, 000 km in many cases. These should not be on the road at all. Brakes that don't work - worn tires that need to be replaced - engines that barely start - check engine service lights on - rusted body damage apparent and who knows what else that cannot be seen.

The low rates are a scam. You will risk having car stop working in the middle of nowhere... or worse have a flat tire or other mechanical malfunction and crash.

They operate under multiple names, so check the two addresses below to see if the reservation or website has the same address. Check out other reviews and do web search for these names and you'll see horrible experiences others have had.

Expedia Refund on Airline Ticket

I purchased an international ticket to Accra Ghana through Expedia for Mar 2020 right before the shutdowns due to COVID-19. The ticket was issued for Ethiopian Airlines. The flights were cancelled and I was issued a credit to use by Dec 31, 2021. I have not been able to travel due to vaccination status and other personal reasons. In August 2021 I reached out to Expedia to see if I could either extend my ticket last Dec 31, 21 or be issued a refund. I was told that I was unable to extend my ticket however I was eligible for a refund which would take 6-8 week. Since August to date I have been calling Expedia regarding my refund status and was told that they sent the request to the airlines to issue the refund and how I have to contact the airline for the refund. I contact Ethiopian airlines SEVERAL TIMES who advised that Since I purchased my ticket from Expedia, that's who would issue my refund. Makes sense to me that since I purchased through Expedia, Expedia should issues the refund. I have been calling back and forth to both Ethiopian airlines and Expedia and both are not resolving this issue. As of date 12/19/21, I am still waiting on my refund to be issued. The lack of responsibility from Expedia is very frustrating as I have been purchasing from Expedia continuously for 15 plus years. I need to know when my refund will be issued OR if that is a problem, please extend my ticket into 2022 year.

Expedia No room available, hard time getting refund

I made a reservation two months ago for a room at the Penny Farthing B&B in St. Augustine, Florida. I paid in full for the two night reservation. When I arrived yesterday at the Penny Farthing I was told no room was available and that the Penny Farthing had no record of our reservation through Expedia. We were fortunate to find a different hotel room at a Best Western on a very popular night in St. Augustine. Then Expedia has given us a very hard time about refunding our $400 plus. And we had bought the "protection plan". Expedia's customer service has been TERRIBLE. Just the worst.

Expedia Ticket Refund

I purchased two international tickets to South Korea through Expedia right before COVID-19. The tickets issued were for Asiana Airlines. All flights were cancelled and the tickets were on credit up to November of 2022. We have been waiting for the quarantine to lift but it doesn't seem like it will lift soon for any type of tourism. I called Expedia to get a refund on this flight but they instructed me to all Asiana. I called Asiana and they told me that I must request my refund with Expedia. I have been calling back and forth to both Asiana and Expedia and both are not resolving this issue. I am requesting a refund for two air tickets I purchased back in 2019 for travel in April of 2020. Based on my research it seems only right that I should get my refund back from Expedia since I purchased through Expedia. They are being irresponsible passing the responsibility to Asiana when clearly they know the procedure to request the refund from Expedia to Asiana.

Expedia Vacation package

Itinerary [protected], Rosemary Ann Dutson-Sater, dates of trip: October 16 - 23. Cabo San Lucas. I booked and prepaid for a room for 2. Due to a last-minute emergency, the second person was unable to make the trip. I used the room by myself. I paid $2, 200 for double occupancy, I should have gotten a refund of $1, 100 for the unused second person (I know this because I also booked a second room for one other person and only paid $1, 100. I am NOT having any luck getting ahold of someone at Expedia that will help me with that refund.

Expedia Expedia Trip Insurance is a Fraud

In 2020 I bought a Vacation package from Expedia itinerary [protected]
I bought the insurance. The trip was cancelled by both the airline and the resort due to Covid. I received the resort refund in a Timely manner but kept getting excuses on the Air refund. on 11/24 I received an email saying i had to book in the next 6 weeks and travel by June 2022. Today I was told to contact the airline and the insurance company. I believe this is Fraud I bought the insurance for the whole trip the whole was cancelled not by me but by resort and airline and should be refunded for the whole trip.

Expedia Nu car refund

on Oct.28 of this year i contacted Expedia online to reserve a rental car in San Diego for our upcoming trip. I made the reservation with Nu car rental and paid by credit card. Approximately 30 minutes later i received a voicemail message from Nu car saying the reservation could not be honored and that i would receive a refund. Since then i have repeatedly tried contacting both Nu car and expedia. Each time I'm told a refund is on the way, but so far i have received no contact and no refund. I would like to know how this is possible. I did not cancel my reservation - Nu car did so. What must i do next? thank you.

Con merchants book a flight that was confirmed.
After I paid sent me an Email saying the ticket was unconfirmed and send me this.

Expedia Paris Tour

I booked a tour in Paris with your company, I waited at the hotel and the driver never showed up. I tried contacting the number on the reservation and was not a functioning number. I contacted Expedia customer service multiple times, they attempted to contact the vendor without luck. I never got the tour. I finally tracked the parent company, Viator, and provided their contact to Expedia to attempt to obtain a refund. Expedia declined my request for a refund because they stated that the vendor is not reimbursing them. This is fraudulent activity. I booked with Expedia and it is Expedia's responsibility to reimburse me.

The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Expedia No service rendered and refuses to refund

I booked and paid for an excursion via expedia in Seychelles. The vendor did not contact me after I emailed them our hotel name, several times, for the pick-up. We waited on the day for #MasonsTravel and nobody came to collect us. I obviously wanted a refund, as expedia and their vendor did not supply the service that was paid for. Expedia, after about 3 days - gave me this answer:

"Dear Joleen,

Thank you for contacting Expedia US regarding on your refund for [protected].

We have attempted to contact Mason's Travel to request a refund request for your itinerary [protected].

Unfortunately, we were unable to contact the vendor and will need to abide by the terms and conditions of the booking which states refunds are not allowed.

On November 25, 2021, I bought a trip to Nairobi Kenya for 4 people, booking reference [protected], [protected], [protected], [protected], on Expedia .com. I paid $2, 679.32 for the trip on my credit card.

On March 29, 2021, I received an urgent message from expedia.com that the Kenya airways flight 401 scheduled to depart Addis Abba, Ethiopia to Kenya on December 2, 2021 at 2:05 PM was cancelled. We were rescheduled to Ethiopian Airline flight 0318 departing Bole international airport on 2 December, 2021 at 1105 am.

Unfortunately, the new flight time did not fit my schedule. I call expedia.com to cancel my travel because I can't make the flight. I was told to call the airline directly. I called the airlines, but the refer my to expedia.com to cancel the flight. I have also cancel the hotel reservation but I was charge a $205 cancellation fee. We did not reschedule the flight, the airline cancelled their flight which create conflict on our schedule.

To resolve the problem, I am requesting for company to cancel the trip to Nairobi Kenya, Expedia Itinerary: [protected], and provide a refund $2, 679.32 for the flight and the hote$2, 679.32 that I paid.

Expedia Booking Flights

I have been trying to find out about my booking that was cancelled due to covid. I have talked to 3 different people each time waiting 40 min to get an agent. The 1st transferred me to Expedia Europe after 40 min wait. kThe next said he would transfer me phone went dead on his end. Called again and waited 40 more min before someone answered and then they put me right back to the start.

Desired outcome: Talk to someone who knows what they are doing!!!!!!!!

Expedia Avis car rental Expedia Itenerary [protected]

I had a confirmed reservation from you per the above noted Itenerary and all from Avis for $284.15 USD including all fees and taxes. I have attached it here.
Arrived to find no car. Had to wait 2 hours for one.
Then when I went to pay I noticed that they intended to charge me $470+ with no explanation and when I questioned it and showed them my confirmed Avis quote they had no reason - just that that was all. Then when I reviewed the paper further I noticed they had snuck in another $400+ for insurance. Told them my Visa card covered all of that and showed them the Visa insurance certificate. They said that it had to be a personalized letter.
I questioned why my Avis confirm did not clearly state this - no reply.
I have been renting Jaco for over 12 years now with other companies- Zuma, Enterprise, Alamo etc and never anything like this. Needless to say I did not rent.
Please resolve and reply immediately.

Expedia Hotel refund

Pending Refund request for your Expedia itinerary [protected].

Good morning, I have been waitin the receive the refund on my credit card since last August as per the attached message confirmartion.

I need from Expedia a copy of the refund receipt/message linked to my hotel itinerary at Miami´s Hilton Garden Inn Airport West. The initial check in was for August 12 - 15.

I was initially following up with the Hotel but as the reservation was made through Expedia they confirmed that the payment was never received at the Hotel. On September 25, Charlotte Schlickbernd - Executive Ambassador from the Hotel replied:

"Good day, Mr. Pinchanski

Thank you for providing your booking details. As you are aware, you made and paid through a third-party vendor a non-refundable reservation. For this reason, we do not have access to your personal information, nor did we receive payment.

The third-party vendor would assume all payment disputes. Therefore, it is not eligible for a cancellation waiver per expedia.com policies displayed on its website. As follows per the Expedia website(If you change or cancel your booking, you will not get a refund or credit to use for a future stay. This policy will apply regardless of COVID-19, subject to any local consumer laws.)

Third-party vendors have no affiliations with Hilton directly and can set terms and conditions based on their policies. Mr. Pinchanski, this is undoubtedly not the booking experience we would have liked for you to have had. In the future, know that booking directly through Hilton offers many benefits, including our Price Match Guarantee."

Expedia Car Rental / Flight Package

On 8/11/21 we booked a flight and car rental package with Expedia. On 10/23/21 United Airlines cancelled our flights and we were forced to rebooked our flight leaving a day earlier. Original pick up date at LHR 12/18, revised pick up date 12/17 - return date 12/30 with Avis. We asked Expedia to add on an additional one day of car rental. Expedia stated that they couldn't do that and cancelled our car reservation entirely and told us to rebook it. When we contacted Expedia we specifically told them not to cancel the reservation. Expedia gave us a refund of $425.
A new reservation is in excess of $2000. I have asked Expedia to reinstate the original reservation and they advise that they can't do that. I have also asked Expedia to provide me with a car rental for the above period at their expense as they cancelled the original booking but can get any sort of a response.
My wife and I have spent hours on the phone with Expedia, the agents are all very pleasant but unable to help. In most cases we are put on hold and then the call drops, in all case we are told that we will get a call back are never get a call. We have been sent emails stating that they tried to call back but didn't get an answer - we have never received a call from Expedia. I think that their tactic is to keep putting you on hold until you eventually give up.

Desired outcome: Expedia should provide us a car rental at no additional cost.
