I have been a Disney Vacation Club member since 1999. I am thrilled with my membership and all it has to offer and have been a very satisfied. However, it seems in the last 18 months to two years, it’s virtually impossible to get a complete reservation in my home resorts, even when I am exactly at the 11 month window. I have 500 points In Beach Club, 200 points in Saratoga and 300 points at Boardwalk. It seems that these DVC rental companies have popped up, and are making a business out of reselling the DVC points for their own personal gain as a monetary side hustle. They even brag on their sites on how they’ll “walk” a reservation every single day, adding another day to their reservation until they have the desired number of days in said reservation. In talking with DVC reservation personnel, they know it’s happening as well. The DVC rental companies will call to make reservations, and don’t even know the person‘s name or address to secure the reservation, and have to either fumble to find that information while they’re on the phone, or call the agent back. This has been verified by your DVC reservation staff, and clearly a sign that someone is using this as a business and not what Disney intended it to be, a wonderful Vacation experience for Vacation Club members. For the past 25 years, I’ve been a strong supporter of the Disney Vacation Club, even is going as far as stopping at kiosks and telling potential customers don’t even think about it just buy it. But that is now changed for me. I can’t recommend a product that frustrates me so much. When you buy points at a certain property as your home resort, you should be able to use your home resort and not be forced to a second or third choice just to use your membership, which is quite expensive to begin with. Don’t feel I’m getting my moneys worth at all! I am tired of being pawned off to other properties because of the rental companies taking over your reservation system. I would like an answer to this situation at your earliest convenience, as it is having me reconsider this membership entirely. I thank you in advance for your prompt response.

Country of complaint: United States

Desired outcome: Limits on rental companies securing DVC reservations until actual owners have secured their reservations, or, like many HOA‘s around the country, owners are limited to renting their points to non owners once a year.
