Back in 2022 I decided to purchase new equipment as mine was decades old. I was told in years past that Cub Cadet was the way to go. I bought a new Ultima ZTS 50" zero turn w / steering wheel and a new XT2 lawn tractor 42". I spent just under 10K for these and extra blades. The Ultima has 150 hrs. on it, the tractor, much less. I was expecting some years of trouble-free mowing / operation providing I did the maintenance. Both batteries died last fall just as the warranty ran out. The Ultima issues. When delivered, the rears were out of sync and had to be adjusted, the lights did not work. It could not hardly move when it came off the truck. Fixed. As time went on I had to replace the discharge cover. I am on the fourth right now. The cover is secured by one bolt and the cheap metal strip can't take the vibration and it cracks off. I did not hit anything. The reverse operating system worked sporadically and had to be replaced after the warranty expired. I need this capacity for some areas of my property. The machine is bouncier to ride than I thought it should be, but I can live with that. Soon after the mower deck failed. I had yet another service call to replace 2 of the 3 spindles in the mower deck that came apart / failed. Thet failed because there are no grease fittings to keep them lubed. Another $300 out. This year the rear wheels went out of sync for the third time and needed a service call for adjustment. The tech said if it happens again, he must do a "deep dive" into the issue. Just what a man with relatively new equipment wants to hear. There should be a way to lock the pedal down as you cruise along but there is none. The bright spot is the 23hp motor which runs well. Now, I am experiencing trouble backing up with the XT2 lawn mower. Both units seem to be made with bare minimum everything to hit a price point, I guess. I would be hesitant to purchase these again with this amount of trouble and $1000 out of pocket so far in a short time and so little hours on the units. I sent a letter like this to both corporate offices in early June but had no response. I ask them what they are going to do for me. We will see. I retired my 40 yr old Bolens diesel compact tractor when I bought these. I hope I don't have to resurrect it.

Recommendation: I had enough trouble with both units that I would be very hesitant to buy them again.
