promised refund which never happened. I have emails as proof
I was a member of crunch fitness in Woodbridge nj for a long time. I contacted manager jose from this location because unfortunately, I was injured and just had major back surgery. He promised me he would cancel my membership (which he finally did after almost 5 months of emails back and forth) I was promised by this manager he would refund me one monthly fee and one yearly fee, since he promised to cancel my membership for so long, I was charged a yearly fee. I have emails going back and forth with this manager and promised refund and will gladly supply all emails to whomever needs to see them. I just had surgery and do NOT need this aggravation. This manager is horrible. He continues to promise me my refunds and never does. Enough is enough. I have emails for proof and will be contacting the BBB. This is so extreme unprofessional and he needs to be held accountable for his actions. I will not stop until everyone knows what lieing thief's this company is. Makes me sick how they handle their customer service. I Want MY REFUND THAT WAS PROMISED TO ME. The manager Jose even has read back my credit card number, so he knows where to send it but refuses to do it after he promised for almost 5 months. Disgusting absolutely disgusting. Preying on injured and disabled people this way is wrong and i will make sure everyone knows how they treat their customers.

Hi My name is Julia Hakanen and I go to the Crunch fitness at the San Dimas, CA location. I've been a member for 3 years now and this is the first time I felt like I am being attacked by an employee. I recently got a rude text message from one of the employee saying that "don't come back to the gym anymore" and "every employee at the gym thinks you're insane and crazy." Very unprofessional of him and them. My mom is disappointed and I will be transferring to a different Crunch fitness.
customer service
Hello! My name is Alexandria. I had a gym membership at a Fall River, MA location. My fiancé & I ended up having to cancel it due to financial issues. My fiancé's membership also had an issue where the person who signed him up messed up on his checking account number. He received a free month & was to be billed $14.99 every month after. The payments never came out after the free month. He thought they only gave him a free month instead of the whole membership so, he never went back. We received a letter in the mail stating he owes $111. We went to the location to dispute the payments & explain what had happened. The manager there (Sarah) gave us an awful attitude. She told us she does not care what money comes in & out of there as she still gets paid. She told us she could not wave all the payments and that their protocol is to call the member 3 days after a missed payment. We never received any calls. My fiancé showed her his phone as he has calls in the call log since 2018. Not a single one was from them. She gave me the number to ABC financial which, I will be contacting tomorrow. As we were leaving she said " oh & what you didn't want to workout?" My fiancé said " um I guess not." She then smiled and said "we'll see this is what happens. You said you've dealt with ABC before so, you must have had an issue at another gym & canceled too. You keep starting & stoping which isn't going to get you anywhere. So please find something for you guys to get healthy." I am BEYOND offended. This gym says they are about body positivity & not fat shaming people but, the own manager here is fat shaming us. I would like to speak with someone on the matter that is higher up than this franchise. Please email or call me back, it is highly appreciated.
Thank you

front visited Crunch around 11:20 am on 8/19/19 and was in a hurry as I had exactly one hour to work out . The employee took my address, but claimed he could not find my membership, that it was inactive.I gave him my phone and ditto. This was 5 minutes in and I'm seeing my workout time slip away. I spelled my name Norma, three times, but each time he continued looking for Norman( A masculine name!). When I pointed out to him that Norman was a masculine name, he still insisted on looking for Norman! As a result of this employee refusing to listen, I wasted 10 minutes and had to cancel my workout as I had an appointment to get to after and would now be late if I worked out.
Is happened before: A male employee thinks it's funny to call me Norman because Im muscular . It was either intentional or he has no business working the check in if his skills are so meager. Have you ever met a woman named Norman? Probably not.
unsanitary conditions
I informed a female representative that the woman's showers were covered in period blood and if they can replace the shower curtains, I come back weeks later and the shower curtains are still there. The bathrooms are never cleans and there's poop stains on the Men's showers curtains as well and the air vents are falling with dust . The showers are always clogged with hair and it's smells like poop and sewer in the shower drain

Ticket message:
To Member Services Department,
Today, 8/14/2019 at approximately 12:30 PM I entered the Crunch Gym facility behind four other guests. The attendant/employee, [name withheld], was the only individual near the check-in area at this time. [Name withheld] was stocking a refrigerator and the storage closet from a pallet next to the check in desk. When she walked out of the storage closet she may have noticed four guests waiting to be checked in; however, she chose to by-pass the check-in process and admit each quest without checking their status (i.e., member or guest, etc.). I was surprised by her nonchalant attitude as several guests entered the gym at her command. With all the turmoil (i.e., homeless people congragating around the facility and coming into the gym and frequent visits by the Riverside Police Department) recently, I was taken back by her insensitive demeanor. Without proper check-in she may have let in a violent individual and put all members at great risk.
This week I received an email letter from [name withheld] and I had a question regarding the letter. While [name withheld] was ignoring members or guests, as she stocked the refrigerator and storage closet, I tried to politely obtain her attention; however, she chose to ignore me. When she exited from the closet I had a brief opportunity to ask her a question (e.g., Did you send a letter about renewing membership or was it a generated letter from corporate?). She continued to stock the cooler and closet, as she entered the closet it appeared that she may have provided an answer, but she was in the closet facing an opposite direction from where I stood; therefore, I could not understand her. Again, while I waited for her to exit the closet she stopped and glared at me. I said I did not hear you Sara, you were in the closet and all I heard was mumbled words (e.g., I described the broken sounds made in the closet). She immediately took offense to my statement and said something in the lines of "I don't talk like that #$%^ that get out of my gym." She threw her hands up in disgust and flailed around in anger. Again, I was taken back by her insensitivity and pure disregard for good customer service. I felt threatened by her aggressive behavior and the only thing I could do was say NO, you leave the gym. I went to the exercise bike to begin my routine and the manager and assistant manger approached me.
The manager told me that [name withheld] said I used profanity, which is a direct lie. I do not appreciate her telling lies to others to try to gain a favor or support her careless behaviors. After I told the manager I did not use profanity he told me Sara has the right to kick you out of the gym, you do not have the right to do that to her. He asked me to leave the gym for one day; I complied. As I was exiting [name withheld]said BYE [name withheld]with negative connotations attached as if she were ready to fight. My reply was you were wrong [name withheld] I do not deserve to be treated with disrespect. Again, in negative connotation she said BYE [name withheld] loudly as to prove a point that she can humiliate customers in front of others. I deserve an apology from [name withheld], and Crunch Gym. It is imperative that [name withheld]gets help and more training in customer service or potentially a new position where she does not get an opportunity to humiliate long term members or anyone else. I feel very hurt by her poor, insensitive behaviors. I would like to file a formal complaint against [name withheld] of Crunch Gym on Hole Ave in Riverside CA for treating me poorly and causing undue stress and anxiety. Who can I talk to? Please Help!
On a different note, the employee stands just outside the front entrance smoking. Also, loudly she has threatened to put members in collections. Just yesterday she intentionally ignored a young man whom had a question. She was at a work desk preoccupied with her cell phone. This gal is way out of line. Get her some professional advice.
monopolizing of multiple exercise machines by a few guests
A few days ago, I sent a complaint to my local Crunch Fitness. I have not heard back. The problem I have, is that some weight lifters "Reserve" two or three stations each, preventing other guests from using the equipment. For example, I have seen times when three different weight lifters monopolized a total of nine different machines. I think this is unfair to other guests. They monopolize machines by living drinking cups on seats of unused machines, as well as duffle bags and other personal items on multiple machines.
Following is the message I sent to the local gym:
I have been a member of Crunch Gym for over a year. I went into the Crunch gym at 9661 E Stockton, in Elk Grove, CA, 95624; to work out this morning (8/8/19) . I left frustrated, not having the opportunity to work out. Half the machines I wanted to use were in use, and the other half were "reserved" by other guests.
I understand, and support, first-come-first-served use of machines. I get it. That is the way it should be. I have no problem with that.
However, there are a group of very dedicated weight lifters who appear to believe they have the right to monopolize two or three machines at a time, to support their workout program. I have observed that this is a common practice at this gym. I don't go to the gym to get into a conflict. The offenders know what they're doing and are unapologetic. Also, I shouldn't have to run to the front desk, making myself conspicuous, and create a scene, just to have the opportunity to use these machines. If these weight lifters want the right to monopolize unused machines, perhaps they should buy their own gym. I'm sure they are not paying two or three membership fees that gives them the right to monopolize all these unused machines. Otherwise, perhaps Crunch doesn't need my membership
Nether the local gym that I visited, nor the corporate office has bothered to contact me. I can only assume that my concerns are of no concern to them. This morning, I requested a full refund of my recently paid annual membership fee.
billing
sneaky billing practices! Crunch Fair Lawn moved or closed on July 31/2019. Other locations outside of fair lawn is out of the question for me. Last billing was July 15 that means membership should be active until August 15. I only got half value because they moved to Paramus (same owner) before August began. I never asked for refund for half the month because I could not go to another location once you moved to Paramus. When I came to paramus crunch office to cancel on August 5, they told me that now if I want to cancel I have to pay on Aug 15 - Sep 15. Not only that ethically you have to want to refund members half month because you were closed in Fair Lawn, you actually want me to pay for extra month when you are closed in Fair Lawn. What kind of scamy billing practice is that? Customer support for the Crunch franchise is the worse I have seen, there is no corporate customer support phone number.
gender discrimination
The location at 1038 Flatbush has an openly sexist young white male staffer at the front desk who's exposing the business to legal risk. He purposefully checks in men who come in after women who are already in line waiting to check in. Does this gym have a preference for their male customers? If not, he needs to be retrained or reassigned. This ignorance of...

I am a member of San Dimas CA Branch. I have been having billing trouble with them.
#1. I gave my debit card info. Started to bill all right. One day, they sent me a bill said they could not process.
#2. I gave my credit card info. I checked they had it. They said all good. I received the bill again.
#3. They told me to give them bank routing number. So I did. I made sure and sure. They found my bank, and they told me it's all set.
I kept receiving the notice. I talked to the billing department, and talked to the manager of San Dimas Branch. All seemed to be good.
I requested to freeze my account for a month for vacation. I emailed twice, and talked to the manager in person to triple check. The manager told me no worries, all set.
I received a bill again! I emailed back to the billing department twice from my vacation spot. I came back in town and called the billing department. They said they would talk to the San Dimas Branch to clarify.
I went in the San Dimas Office and talk to the manager. The manager who froze my account no longer work there, really? The manager emailed to the top manager to explain my situation and waive the fee for the month which was frozen.
Then, I receive the last notice which said they would go to the collection company!? I called the billing department again. Every time I called, they say they monitor the conversation, but they didn't have any info that I had to explain it again!
I went in the office again. The manager was not there. I was so tired of this situation, and asked cancelation. Then, they told me to pay July fee! The manager told me not to when this happened. So, I was waiting for the resolution. But once I expressed the cancelation, they cannot waive the fee.
Who is the cause of me to cancel the membership?
The billing department is totally separated from any situation. They don't receive any request that they keep billing. Then, where's the point of management of the account?
If this was the cause of me, I will be happy to pay the fee and leave. But I don't think I owe anything to them.
not a crunch fitness!!
Crunch fitness gyms are usually clean, super friendly, and are generally with the times as far as equipment and offerings go. This fort Myers location is personally no where near up to Crunch standard as far as i'm concerned.
Issues:
1. Group classes.
These classes are during the busiest hours of the gym time and even trying to go at 5am when the gym opens you still cannot escape them. The MAJOR problem with these classes is they section off a LARGE part of the gym that cannot be used during the class. This section contains also a LARGE amount of equipment which now can NOT be utilized for members at all.
2. Broken equipment and Updates
Broken equipment seems to be a very common problem here at this Fort Myers Crunch. Some machines or pieces of equipment will sit broken for over a MONTH before repair. Including bathroom amenities like for example, paper towels holders, soap dispensers, it's unhealthy and kind of ridiculous. This location need updates so bad it's not a joking matter. Equipment especially starting with some deadlift platforms which apparently every other crunch fitness has them but this location. Different equipment will show up from time to time but it's most likely used and from the Stone Age like a hand me down from another location.
3. Cleanliness
This gym I'm almost certain, is currently filling their spay bottles with a cleaner for the equipment after use with a chemical that the user SHOULD definitely be wearing some sort of gloves before handling. Along with a bug problem in the bathrooms I would say this gym is just not the cleanest I've been to or the healthiest, which is why we come to a gym in the first place.
After the many crunch locations I have visited across the US I'm just extremely disappointed on how poorly managed and forgotten about this location is. Certainly they can utilized that extra fee they charge members for some sort of improvements.
refund
On April 4, 2019, I signed up for personal training with Davis, the personal training manager at the Santa CLarita CRUNCH FITNESS for a package of 8 sessions which also included 2 additional sessions for free. The cost was $480.00. Unlike a standard business contract, there was NO paperwork just Davis indicating for me to sign on the electronic signage pad for my training package. NEVER ONCE did he mention there would be a monthly recurring charge of $480.00. Of course I signed because I was purchasing my 8 + 2 training sessions and I wanted to pay for them. WHY would I question that? Any legitimate and ethical business would advise you that you were actually signing a monthly recurring contract. Again NOT ONCE was ANYTHING mentioned about being charged monthly for additional training sessions.
On May 6, 2019 a company named ABC FINANCIAL took $480.00 out of my account and again on June 4, 2019 took another $480.00. A TOTAL of $960.00 was taken from my account that I NEVER AUTHORIZED.
While under the impression that I was ONLY paying for my 8 + 2 sessions, I did sign their electronic signage pad. Though, because of their misleading, dishonest and corrupt business practices, in reality I was UNKNOWINGLY signing a contact that was allowing them to charge me monthly for sessions that I never intended to have.
I went into CRUNCH FITNESS and spoke to Jabari Day, the club manager on
June 10, 2019 regarding the unauthorized charges He then completed a "Request For Refund" form and informed me that I would be refunded the $960.00 in 7-10 business days.
I did receive a check dated June 27, 2019 for $480.00. I immediately contacted Jabari Day inquiring about the remaining $480.00 still owed to me, and he said he would look into it. After two weeks of multiple phone calls and emails to Jabari Day, all of which were ignored, I started sending letters to the founders of CRUNCH FITNESS, Curtis and David Harman. I also spoke to Nic Soszynski, the Business Customer Service, Creative Coordinator. After all of this, I was informed they are not going to refund the additional $480.00. Their willingness to refund half of what is owed to me implies they recognize that they were guilty of poor business ethics.
I personally know of others that have been deceived by CRUNCH FITNESS in the same manner as I have been. After researching I've found online what seemed to be a never ending list of complaints of the deceitful and shady business practices of CRUNCH FITNESS stealing money from members.
personal training contract scam - request a refund
Hi, my name is Youjin Kim. I have a membership at College Park, Toronto location. I got a personal trainer since March 2019, and I was assured that I am only obliged to get a three-month contract, and after that I can cancel the sessions at any time. So, I payed for the sessions from March 2019 to May 2019. I talked to the manager named Steven Zorba...

I had called to ask if I can take my fifteen year old sister with me as a guest and was told okay no problem. I get to the gym and all of a sudden it's a problem and the manager comes out with an awful attitude. He was straight up rude and condescending to me. I am a member who pays every month, I do not deserve to be spoken to the way he spoke to me. I completely understand the policy now and respect that a guardian has to be present with anyone under 18, but he took it to another level. Chris is extremely miserable and rude, I will not tolerate it.
