Course Hero

For some reason whenever I wanted to log in, it always shows "bad request". I need help with some homework and this is really bothering me. This has never happened ever before in my life until yesterday. I don't know what I should do, I tired to reset my password and log in with a new password but it doesn't allow me. I paid more than 100 dollars for this and I would want this to be resolved.

On or about March 03, 2022, I was seeking tutor servicing for a Humanities class. I came across Course Hero and the site stated free 24/7 class room services and text book solutions, but if you wanted instant access it would be $9.95 per month. I believe I had signed up for a month. After the first month I tried a second and cancelled. After around August 07, 2022 I started receiving declines notices from my bank Wells Fargo, this started on August 07, 2022 and at least every Monday and Saturday I would receive decline notices (NSF) from Wells Fargo, all of the notices were from Course Hero for a charge of $59.85. I never gave them my new debit card number, do to the “fact” I had to change accounts with Wells Fargo and be issued a new debit card and bank account.

On Saturday August 27, 2022, I had noticed a charge of $59.85, had appeared on my banking account from Course Hero. Wells Fargo wanted to charge me $31.00 to block all transactions in this amount from Course Hero, not guarantying they could change the amount and still be charged.

On August 15, 2022, I went back into the site to make sure the account was truly cancelled and cancelled again and it stated the account was to be closed by August 22, 2022, at which time once again I clicked to close the account and received a notice n the screen the account was closed and no further payments were to debited.

August 18, 2022I had brought this to the attention of a customer representative at Course Hero by the name of Anna Sun. She wanted all my personal information, including PayPal and debit card numbers in which I sent her a copy of the decline from my bank showing Course Hero.

August 22, 2022, a representative, Nikki Sanchez, from Course Hero had contacted me via email and to clarify the closure and activity on the account. She stated that there would be no further recurring subscription charges.

This returns me back to August 27, 2022, where I am now receiving unauthorized debits from Course Hero. This also brings me to the point back in or around April when I was charged a $39.85 fee for nothing and the representative I had spoken to guaranteed me a refund, after a short conversation, I stated I would seek to retain counsel if possible and take this to the State Legal authorities for prosecution for Wire Fraud, at which time the representative wanted to remind me that course was too big of a company that they have many lawyers and cannot be prosecuted for anything.

All and all this is consumer fraud and theft at its best and being able to track my banking information from me is even harder to accept.

On 16th August, course hero sent me an email stating my tutor account has been disabled due to violation of section 2 and 3. I have looked into their terms and it says section 2 and 3 is regarding fraudulent activities. I am certain I haven’t conducted anything fraudulent in violation of any terms. When i asked to know more details and proof they ghosted me. I even had a balance of 300$ in my account when they closed it and never paid it to me. When i wrote a comment on their LinkedIn post about this matter they gave me an automatic response and deleted my 2nd reply on that post. I have no idea how this company is standing after doing such fraudulent activities itself!

I have been working on CourseHero for about a year with a continuous on average 100% Helpful rate with no plagiarism and anything.

Suddenly on Aug 19, 2022, They permanently disabled my tutor account along with my money in it.

I never ever did any plagiarism and honestly answered all the student's questions with detailed explanations. Yet the company deems to disable by account on the ground of violation of Course Hero’s Terms of Service.

I have a uploaded a module given by our university professor without their consent on August 8, 2022 in course hero. The name of my professor is included in the document. I am afraid I'm violating my professor's privacy and her copyright infringement rights.

This whole day I have not been able to login to my account due to a "Bad Request" error. Please help, I really need to use my account. It was working fine in the morning but for the past 12 hours it has consistently given me an error message. My account just recently renewed and I would like to use it as soon as possible

Well, the company has been fair enough, but I guess it needs to work on its new policy which prevents tutors from updating their PayPal account should they encounter problems with their currently linked PayPal account.

Technically, this means that the individual tutor involved cannot withdraw their current earnings and is not able to proceed to answer further questions because there is no way to get their earnings going forward.

I agree with the need to put in place adequate controls on earnings withdrawal, which would ensure that no one is trying to be fraudulent, but I feel it is in the interest of equity and fairness that one is able to get rewards for work done.

I would advise they have quarterly windows through which tutors experiencing this kind of issue can get it resolved without having to lose their earnings or be indirectly taken off the platform.
