This company is a plain pain in the ? If I am more that 5 days late on a payment, they start calling 5-8 times a day on my home phone and cell phone. Then if I do not respond to their calls they start harassing anyone I listed on my original loan application as references. Currently I have had a financial setback but even so I have not been even 30 day...

Consumer Portfolio Services Harassing calls at work!

This company calls me on my job no fewer than 6 times a day. Currently I owe for last months payment and this month's payment goes past due on Friday. I will pay these people. In the meantime, although they have an alternate number for me, they call me at work. I work in a call center and can not make outgoing phone calls unless I am on a break. The call and leave me multiple messages and if I don't call back soon enough they call my co workers (our number are in numerical order by desk). I have some people coming to my desk that don't even know me to tell me that my bill collectors are calling about my car or they have asked my bill collectors to stop calling and they won't. This is unbelievable. I don't care much to talk to them because they say things like what is more important to you eating or driving to work? They have threatened to come to my job and take the car and then how will I get home. That is really unprofessional for someone to say. They need to be stopped. I have asked repeatedly that they stop calling but they wont.

As I see there are lots of people dealing with this company and getting the same harrasment phone calls as I do. I have several complaints about this company. I have realized that if you are just 3 days late on a payment they start calling your phone, work phone, even my fathers phone. At one time I was $138 short on a payment and my next payment was due within 2 days. They called my work one day and lucky me who answers the phone at my job (which employs over 500 people mind you). We are not allowed personal phone calls either so I said she is not in and cannont receive personal phone calls either. The lady then said WELL I KNOW THIS IS HER! And I am telling her its not and blah blah blah and hung up the phone...well go figure they keep calling and I have to answer the phone and we do not have caller ID in there if its an outside call. She got an attitude with me and then said well can I talk to her supervisor? This is not allowed they can't get your work and others in your personal financial problems. Eventually I just said I was going to pay the balance in two days when I get my check. They set me up to believe a towing company was outside looking for my car and I had to pay them the balance now or my car will be towed. I went ahead and did it and left it at that. Well another time I was almost 30 days behind once again and they called my job again! I was'nt in yet because I work 2nd shift and the guy asked my coworker why I wasn't at work! She got an attitude back at him and hung up. Every worker there I have talked to is rude and has no sense. As of right now I just paid them $300 a week ago from me being past due due to a relocation and start of a new job...I am currently 2 weeks behind on my payment this month and they call me at least 4 times a day...probably more because I have no service at my job so I cant get any phone calls! Something needs to be done to this company!

CPS continues to call and harrass me at my place of employment even after my attoney has sent them a letter to cease all calls at my place of employment. Not only do they harass me, they harrassed my boss also until she gave me the message. They even went as far as sending my boss a fax with information about to asking me to call them back immediately.

I continue to receive calls at my job from CPS.

CPS is a horrible company. They have blatantly violated the fair debt collections laws with no regard. Their collection agents are extremely rude, they are abusive using profane language, and they make unlawful threats.

I have received many harrassing calls and threats from CPS. Just last week I received a threatning nasty message on my voicemail at work. She was nasty and she said, I don't know why you are not answering our calls, you need to just take care of your responsibility! Then hung up abruptly. I have spoke with them about how they have treated me, but there has been no change. Something needs to happen! I no way is it alright for a company to treat customers the way they do.

These people have no consideration for anything. They track down people that have nothing to do with your loan such as ex- inlaws they called my sons school for numbers on his emergency list.Hurricane Ike came through our town and I could not make payment due to no power anywhere . When I was able to make payment from cell phone because no phone lines I couldn't hear the conformation number . And I called to see if they recieved my payment they said if I didn't have a number I didn't make payment. She said that the 540.00 I paid should cover the repo cost and hung up on me. These people are so f-in rude I advise anybody not to have a tri-cycle financed through theses people they should be put in the catagory with loan sharks or mobsters They are laws against harassment and they break every one of them they should be shut down!

CPS is very unprofessional. Ok these people calls me daily sometimes 3 times a day. I owe 3 payments yes 3 payments and some unheard of amount in late fees. I received an call from a former co-worker that these cps folks had been calling my former employer. I notified cps of me being laid-off yet they still call my old employer. WOW... I'm behind 1 note so I have 3 payments instead of 2 left. Ok don't get me wrong I'm behind a payment but I thought I worked that out with my so call representative. 3 payments and they are ready to call out the dogs WOW. Needless to say I will never finance through CPS ever again in life...

I was fifnanced thorugh another Company for my car loan. The finance went bankcrupt, and CPS took over.. I was sent ONE letter informing me of the company change, along with my new account number. I lost all my documents while moving, and tried to contact CPS to get my account number so I could send my payment. I called numerous times, and could not get in contact with any live person. I was always referred to leave a voice message with a return number and my Social security number( which is very unsafe to do). I NEVER received a return call. I received NO aditional bills to make a payment, and no call backs. It has now been four months and still no catact has been successful. Now they are looking for my car for reposession, and have not gotten any advance notice. I am still trying to contact CPS, and still no contact, and no return call. DO NOT GET FINANCED WITH THIS COMPLANY IF YOU ARE SEEKING A LOAN FOR A CAR. This is a Dishonest company, avoiding your payments only to repo your car and sell it to collect the dept from the companies they take over. BEWARE if your company has been taken over by CPS. You'll be sure to lose your verhicle.

This company has the rudest people working there. They for the car payment even when its been paid and what is worse their own workers can't even get the numbers right when you set up a payment! I was called while at a funeral and they didn't even care and were only interested in making sure that money was there and then didn't even offer any sort of sorry for your loss! I would rather buy a car cash from now on then have to go through this company again.

I opened an auto loan with Consumer Portfolio Services in 11/2011, It is now 1/2013. I decided to log on to my account and see what my payoff was. When I checked the amount, I was amazed to see that they only took 974.00 off of my balance...My payments are 381.00 a month ? even at 18.9%, it does not add up. They took almost 75% of my payments for interest.
I have another auto loan with a different company for the same rate ( but 100 a month less ) and they applied over 2000.00 to the principle. I noticed that CPS on 4 different payments had kept the whole amount for interest... Is there not a law in the state of PA, that states they can only take a certain percentage ? I need help on what to do next ?

Consumer Portfolio Services Terrible service!

This is the WORST auto loan experience that I have ever had in my life. I have been cussed numerous times by these people, I have been told to "Shut my Beak", "get off my lazy ### and get a job, so that I can pay for my truck", " that I was ###", I have been off work twice this year due to back surgery and my wife was also off due to a hernia surgery and I had fallen behind, today I was called and told that I better pay the money that I owed them, which is only 1/2 of a payment and it will not be 30 days late for 7 more days or I will have my auto taken away, I could get it back by paying double payments, a $1000.00 fine and all late fees, this is after they had worked out me paying half two weeks ago and the other half later in Nov, these are the most unprofessional, rude, obnoxious people that I have ever come in contact with! They have called my work and told other people that they were calling from the Legal Dept at CPS and that I had not paid my truck payment and that if I knew what was best for me that I would take their call,a lady named Ms. Brown has talked to me like a dog, a lady named Erica has done the same, everyone that I have had contact with in this company is RUDE! I am seeking further action against them for slander and harassment!

This company is in business to call your place of employment to the point where it puts your job in jeopardy. My wife has a loan with them and they called her at work before her payment which was not late and to tell he it was coming up. Thanks for the heads up Seargent Brown. Luckily her company managers have no tolerance for harrassing calls and support her 100%. Mrs. Brown or probably Miss Brown should have a judgement against her from being 10 feet from a phone in general. They faxed her HR departmet for empoyee verification and left a message that she will be doing this regularly? What is that? Anyone who goes for a first time or poor credit loan should inquire that they don't use CPS. They thrteatened repo one week after the payment was due. Again. WHAT?

Ok, heres some news I just got ~ Some bad, but some good. CPS is not a collections agency so therefore I was told they do not have to abide by the Fair Credit Collections Act. So I ask myself If they are not a collections agency, then what are they. Well, turns out they are nobody, they dont have guidelines and neither do I (WE). So I write the BBB of California and to my surprise I get a call that day.

We (All of US) have rights under the Consumer Protection Service of California and the BBB tells me that they will file a Phone Harrassment case against CPS. So, you want to give CPS what they deserve, take some time, file some reports with the BBB. Make sure you are logging all contact with them. Any calls they make and what they say needs to be written down for future references.

Also, on any complaints you may make you need to include CPS'S IRS Employer Identification #, it is [protected].

Please join me in letting the complaints rise ~

My goodness! These people must be trianed by the same person! They called a freind of mine, who I was housesitting for, pretending to be a government agency. The caller said I had applied for assistance and used her as a reference. She knew that was not true, but called me anyway and gave me the number on the caller ID. It was Consumer Portfolio Services. I contacted legal services and I am waiting for an attorney to call me back. I also am going to research how to get a class action lawsuit filed. I found a website that explains how the process should be handled. It is

http://www.ehow.com/how_4598936_file-class-actionsuit.htmlref=fuel&utm_source=yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=yssp_art

another one is:

http://www.chiff.com/legal/class-action-lawsuits.htm. We have to do something to have these people be accountable for their actions.

I am so in if there is a class action suit - I cant take these people anymore. In one months time my payoff as gone up 1500.00 WHY ! I have been cussed at called names - told i was ### and Im drawing the line because they called my mother. My mother answered and told her that they need to speak with us but never said there names - my mom knew right away who it was told her that i didnt live there anymore to call my house number and to stop calling her and she hung up - Ms. Freeman decided to take it upon herself to harrase a 67 year old lady WELL WELL WELL - that was it she had the balls of steal to call my mother back cuss at her then hung up on her HOW PROFFESIONAL is that PLEASE. My dog has more manners. I have filed a complaint with FTC ... Im done with this company I so want them out of business- We should have our car paid off but seems we cant because they add charges for parting my hair in the wrong direction, oh wait maybe my socks dont match my shirt OO THATS ANOTHER 200.00 TO THERE LOAN i will find a class action lawsuit even if i have to throw my name out there a million times ...they need to pay for how they treat people and closing that company will stop them from doing it to others.. they wouldnt last a day where i work - if they talked like that on the phone they would be personally escorted out by the president - if you go to a dealer and they say CPS or CONSUMER PORTFOLIO run run as fast as you can and dont look back - save yourself.

Again people, google Weisberg and Associates. They sue CPS all the time. We won our case. Not only did I win my case, but they dropped the $3500 I had left on my car and paid $2500 extra. After the attorney's fees, I pocketed $500.

Just because we have sub par credit does NOT mean you have to live being threatened by these people. They work for US. Without our bad credit, they wouldn't have jobs because there would be no 3rd part financing company. They dont have enough class to work for the good banks. That's why they settle for companies like CPS.

If you get told they are coming to pick your vehicle up and to leave it in the driveway..
if you get told that you are abandoning your responsibilities..
If you get calls on a daily basis harrassing you...

Call these attorneys. They will win and CPS will settle before going to court. You don't have to have recorded phone calls, but they do help should they need them. I never had to send in mine, but I still have them just in case.

I know everyone's pain dealing with these ###s and ### called CPS. I financed a 2005 Hyundai Elantra through them not knowing what I was in store for. It's been absolute HELL with these people and yes they are VERY RUDE! My advice to everyone is to try and get a copy of your contract and get on board with someone else! CPS is a company who finance people with not the greatest credit(No offense to anyone) for an outrageous interest/payment amount and then screw you over to make your credit even worse and call with threats to garnish wages, and repo your vehicle.

Consumer Portfolio Services Bad auto loan

Consumer Portfolio Services, Inc. - www.consumerportfolio.com

I purchased a 2006 Dodge Truck in late 2006 from a Missouri dealership. I was put at 18% interest with a $530 payment. My finance company is CPS. I was told to come back in 6 months to refinance my vehicle which i have recently done. I am still awaiting an answer. I am running short between pay periods this month and i paid half now and the other half is coming in a week. I am 15 days late from my original payment and they have called me to say i was on the repo list. I thought 90 days was typical on a repo not 15. My wife and i have both talked to these people and they are very rude. I need some help to get away from this company! I am getting ready to go fight for my country again and i dont have time to be harassed by some company who makes a killing off of my payments on interest anyway and i am making an effort to pay them before the next pay period. I guess if all else fails i have the soldiers and sailors civil relief act. Please send advice!

I have had my car financed through CPS since Feb. 2005. Since then, I have been harassed by their collectors. My family and friends have been harassed by their collectors as well. The company's collectors have violated FDCPA laws by giving out my account information and unlawfully collecting. I received a voicemail on 12-28-09 from a representative by the name of Jay (I still have the voicemail) stating that she has a check payment holding my account and I did not call in to authorize it. I immediately called her back and told her I never gave a check payment to hold my account until 12-25-09. She asked why I was late I told her, and I told her I would call in on 12-31-09 with an arrangement if I could not come up with the payment. I go to withdraw funds today and find that CPS took an unauthorized payment out of my checking account using my debit card visa number not a check. I did not give them authorization to take a check payment or a debit payment out of my account, let alone give them my debit visa card number. I contacted my attorney to obtain my options to sue.

My boyfriend recently found out that CPS has been double charging interest on his loan because he had been making two payments a month instead of just one. The two payments he has been making equal more than what his minimum payment is. His truck should be paid off next month but CPS claims he owes well over $2, 000 more. That company is in violation of so many Federal Laws it isn't funny.

I finally paid my car off that was financed through this company. I ended up paying 200% more than the car was worth. They are so rude. They would curse at me, and tell me to go borrow the money. I was stuck twice, out of the 4 years, and boy they made me cry. They are nasty people, and I'd take public transportation before I ever got financed again through them. When I finally paid it off, they said they won't give me the title for a few months, to wait for the last payment to clear. I sent them money via MoneyGram so it was considered guaranteed money. They still made me wait.. Forget this company!

Yikes!

I am also financed through this sad [censor] company... the fact of the matter is when they call i will not talk to them. i set a payment arrangement up for them to take a little more than the usual payment to cover the late fee...the fools told me that the funds we're not available and i checked my account and the money was still there...i called my bank and asked if they could track my payment... the told me that CPS tried to get more than i authorized to be paid... so that's why the payment was rejected. After i told them about what my bank told me CPS told me I don't know why they would tell you that...the truth of the matter is this company are the worse...and a big RIP OFF, i'm so tired of them. i even told their rep Yall can come and get the damn car! she was completely silent... because they try use a scare their on it's customers... remember if they repo the car they'll auction it and try to come for the remainig balance which will not what you are paying ... you probably paying more than the damn thing is worth.

We purchased our car three years ago, our loan is through CPS. Recently in the last year my husband has had three heart attacks, and we had to move twice due to his medical condition. We fall behind on a loan by about 20 day late on payment. I tried to make an arrangemnet to get back on track with our payments. They refused to work with us. They are very rude, no arrangement is situable for them. even after telling them about my husband's recent heart attacks they continue to leave him threatening messages on the phone. They do not care of any hardship you may be going through. The interest rate it aweful. They also posted a check on our bank acocunt ahead of time and we ended up paying $90.00 in service charges to the bank. They call our friends and family members from a list, we gave for people who might be interested in getting a loan for a car.( big mistake.) This is very imbarassing. We too feel like crimmals. I would never recommend CPS to anyone. I will be thankful to God when we are finished with them. I never encountered anyone as rude as the employees at CPS. DO NOT GET A LOAN THROUGH CPS< YOU WILL BE SORRY! Yes, they even call on Sundays, They have no regard to the time of day they call you. We did not intend to get behind, but things do happen in life. You just do not need rude people to deal when you are in a bad situation already. They do not care if your half dead. They are very, very, very rude and lie.

I agree...CPS is awful. I was married and a joint signer with my ex husband. We divorced and he kept the vehicle. He was supposed to re-finance into his own name and never did. He got the car re-poed and 2 years later I am getting garnished for it! I have now paid about $5000.00, they recieved about $9500 between what was paid and how much they got for auctioning it. They have now received alsomst $15000.00 for a car we had six monthes and keep tacking on interest and say I still owe $20, 000! Unreal! For a 3 year old Dodge Durango with 35000 miles on it! I have asked them to bill him as well at the very leasst and they refuse! I do not have one other negative item on my credit but this, so I do pay my bills! But this is just unfair, riduculus and totally gauging me and the general public! They very well could accept what has been paid as fair, but they won't! They take from the poor and give to the rich...do not EVER use this comapny. All i can hope for now is no one else uses them and they go out of business and get their own cars re-poed!
