TransUnion innacurate, incompetent

Transunion is a joke. They still have my old address - moved 2 months ago (and as such, still show my motgage open) my old employers company names are so ###ized as to be unrecognizeable.
I disputed some old charges with Macys credit (which is a whole other complaint) with all 3 credit reporting companies. The other 2 companies cleaned it up and my credit score is excellent. But, I almost did not get financing on a car due to Transunion doing nothing about this dispute and having grossly inaccurate info on me. In fact, my opening sentance is a quote from the car dealer's credit manager - "we approved you based on the other 2 reports - Transunion is a joke."
When I called to speak to someone at TU, it took four calls before I got someone I could understand - they quite obviously outsource their "support" to a foreign land. Not the operators fault, but if I can't unserstand them, they can't help me.
I cannot begin to describe my frustration. That a company this poorly run has such a tremendous effect on people's lives is a crime.

there was nothing wrong with the language used and if you read the complaint you might notice the criticism is of the company policy of outsourcing to a foreign country, not of the people themselves. But I'm certain you are quite proud of your own clever criticism. Who sits and reads these anyway if they don't have a common complaint?

TransUnion alot of people who filed a claim got ripped off

I'm sure other people like myself got ripped off in their transunion class action suit. The emails that was sent out i never recieved. The texas attorneys that are handling the class action suit are Terry Saunders and Ryan Thompson both from austin texas. These attorneys wanted to save postage so they both agreed to send out emails to everyone so i w2as told by the project manager when i called. What a stupid way of doing business and unprofessional. Everytime i had to deal with a attorney it was always done by telephone or the United States mail.I submitted my form online before the deadline of august 31 2010. I submitted my form on august 15 2010. So the people that NEVER ever got a email or they thought it was spam or the email wanted personal info from you like a social security number plus myself ALL GOT RIPPED OFF from any cash settlement. I have people in washington d.c. plus somebody in texas that might be able to still get me in plus everybody that still might have a chance in getting money should all join me at www.sueeasy.com see you there!

I received an email form the attorneys concerning the Transunion Lawsuit. I followed ALL instructions, and sent information back to them quickly. While waiting, a friend told me she got her payment of 200 plus dollars. She asked if I had received anything and I said "no." To make things worse, I'm the one who told my friend about the lawsuit. Nevertheless, I received an email confirmation that my information was received and processed. I still have the copy in my email folder. When I called, I was amazed that the representative was so mean and hateful. She said she couldn't find my name or social security number and said there was nothing she could do. I told her I had an email confirmation and that I turned everything in. She then hung up. I called back MULTIPLE times, sent emails, left messages and they NEVER even attempted to call me back. I was entitled to the payment.

These attorneys' seem to be incompetent.

the person I am in contact with told me 2 weeks ago that an e-mail went out with an update on the situation - I have received no update e-mail as of the time of this comment.

I am filing a complaint with the U.S. Attorney and the local office of the FBI.

The woman's name I have been in contact with has the last name of Cox.
Perhaps if we shower her with e-mails along with e-mails to the U.S. Attorney they will get the picture.

TransUnion bate and switch

I signed up and paid for what I thought was access to my credit score and report for one year through TransUnion. I was on the TransUnion "official" website when I gave all my information. I actually logged in several times through the TransUnion site. That was in December. Now a few months later when I log in, it doesn't show me the report or the score. I can see my account information and some contact information...but the number they give for support states it's TransUnion, but you are connected to True Credit.com. This is not who I chose to do business with. Now I can not find anyway to report this to TransUnion and True Credit will not honor the deal I made with TransUnion because when they look at their little computer screen, it shows I paid for my score only. I tried to explain it many times to them and they stood their ground by not giving me what I paid for. What I don't understand is why does TransUnion have so many advertisements and links to other things besides what you actually came to them for in the first place.

On 4 June 2009 I settled my Vodacom Credit Card. All was okay. Last week my wife and I applied for a Home Loan. We were informed that I am listed on ITC, with the reason beeing that my Vodacom Credit Card is in AREARS, and I am still owing the full outstanding amount! I have spoken to Bongani Dhlaphu on [protected] and he confirmed that I need to get a letter form the admin department stating that the account is paid and closed. i could not be provided with a number to phone, but only a fax number. I have faxed through the request now, but was informed by Bongani that it will take 48hours+. I have to get that letter, in order to get the approval, or else we will lose the house! I need that letter a.s.a.p! Please help!

I have signed the OTP for the house, thingking that all is fine. I NEED THAT LETTER A.S.A.P!

You may want to try calling them really early in the morning... otherwise if you call in the afternoon...you will be on hold forever... Try both of these numbers, if the hold time is too long for one, hang up and try the other number. If you get a Rep that is giving you issues, hang up and call back and try and get someone else that knows what they are doing... Do not let them talk you into giving them a credit card number to obtain a credit report. You should be able to get one for free online if you are trying to do a dispute. And do not let them talk you into doing a dispute over the phone either... Let them know you prefer to review your credit first before proceeding with anything...

TransUnion impossible to obtain your credit report

I have been trying to obtain my credit report from this comapny for a period of time. When I first logged on I was prevented from using the supplied password. I was Locked out. After 5 12 hours of trying to get throught to find out why I was told that they didn't have my updated details. This was immediately faxed to them. I was informed that I would be able to acces my report in 48 Hours. I tried again after the 48 hours and was still logged out. I then asked 96 hours later I asked to speak to a manager and after a number of mistries was finally put through to a Mr Bongani. He said that my information was invalid and that they hadn't received my updated details. These were faxed to his personal fax number. He PROMISED that my credit report would be e-mailed that same day 31 August 09. On the 1 September I phoned again to find out what was happening as I had not received my report as promised and I was still logged out on the site. Mr Bongani wouldn't take my call so I left a message. I am still waiting for him to return my call and my credit report. ITHOUGHT BY LAW THAT I HAD THE RIGHT TO THIS ONCE A YEAR.

You could go to this link to request all 3 of your credit reports for free either over the phone or through the mail. I would recommend doing both. You could just print out the form and request all 3. As far as contacting Transunion over the phone... if one person is not helpful, hang up and try someone else... have them send a reset of your password to your email. Make sure they unblock you also from accessing your credit report. Trying calling early in the morning so you are not put on hold too long during the day or afternoon.

Here is the link to obtain your free annual credit reports...

https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/order?phone

Here are two contact numbers to call for Transunion, try both...

TransUnion my report

Transunion is a joke... they are so full of it. Ive been trying to verify I am myself for 3mos. now this is ridiculous. They keep sending me papers saying they cant verify that I am me because of this or that I have a letter right now from them again saying that my proof they required is illegible which isw ah crock so here I am sending it again but now im sending my original bill they can have it I want to send my original drivers license (can I do that) they can have that too if thats what it takes... It would of been easier to go to my doctor and submit blood but they'd probaly say they didnt get that either... Im going to send the documents AGAIN but I clearly see that they are just buying time and they will reject them too. I went to the web site FTC (Federal Trade Commission) but it says they dont take personal complaints. My e-mail is [protected]@yahoo.com if anyone out there knows who /where/how I can make a complaint please send me the information it would not only save me time but postage stamps also...

It is far to easy to get blacklisted in South Africa, all you have to do is go to the court and make an accusation against someone. Just a summons, whether you go to court or not is enough for ITC to blacklist . It is disgusting and should be stopped. I was issued a summons by a former employer, the matter never went to court yet ITC can still list you for...

TransUnion stay away

Good luck trying to cancel. I have been trying for eight months and every month, like clockword, the charge shows up on my statement. Despite 7 phone calls including another 8 today, nothing is resolved.

They had my address at one I haven't lived in nine years. They refuse to refund my monthly fee despite trying to cancel since january. I was cut off several times, re-routed and ultimately resolved nothing.

I now have phone calls into the president of transunion, bobby mehta; the vp of communications and the president of consumer relations. Next step are the networks. We'll see if I get a phone call back. Granted it's only $80. But it's the principle.

I am a media relations person and if my company treated people like this, I wouldn't blame them for going to the news channels. Stay away from true credit and transunion under any and all circumstances!

Transunion is a fraudulent company apparently run by the mafia. Every thing they do is a fraudulent scam. Never ever let them into your bank account. If a job requires you to contact Transunion, get a different job.

You need to just call your bank and have them send you a new credit card with a new credit card number... Tell them you have unauthorized charges to your credit card... You could request to have all the charges that were done by transunion credited back to your bank account. You need to do this right away. They should be able to block the current credit card instantly over the phone but make sure they block the card. It is possible to have more than one credit card active and linked to the same checking or savings account. Goodluck!

TransUnion awful service

My son that has just turned 18 has been a victim of Identity fraud, which his own father committed, he has used his social security number for work, because his father didn't want to pay his back child support, unfortunately they have the same name on Jr. and Sr. separate them, anyhow to make a long story short I learned that this wasn't the first time he's done this to him, My husband well soon to be ex is incarcerated now for other crimes he's committed, So I went to the police and showed them the pay stubs with my son's social on them that I had found, I was outraged! Now there's a pending investigation with that and hopefully they tack another charge on him before he gets out of jail, as far as mine son is concerned I had put fraud alerts out, have contacted the FTC. and Have been trying for months now to get my son's credit report, because God only knows what his father did with my son's social, I need to fix his life and the only way I can do this is get his reports in which these people are giving me a hard time about and I don't understand why? All I hear is we need more information in which I have given them registered mail at that this was over a month ago and still no credit reports, I tried calling them but all you get is a recording no live representative to help you, I don't know what to do anymore about this, It is imperative that I have these credit reports so that I can fix my son's life.

TransUnion changing service w/out notification

I've been a customer of truecredit since 2002. Today, I learned that they had significantly change my service without first notifying me. In my view, this practice is unacceptable, poor customer service, and a just bad business practice. The service I originally had with the company allowed me access to all 3-credit reports (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax) and credit scores at anytime and as often as I wished, with only one monthly charge. Now, I only have unlimited access to TransUnion's credit report and I can only obtain access to the other 2-credit reports once per month. This is unacceptable, and the people I spoke to in their customer service office (in India) would not even offer to restore my old service. The line I received from them was basically the service is now different and I have no options. Well, I do have an option; I terminated my service with truecredit.

TransUnion blocks my government mandated free credit report

As we all know, we are entitled for one free credit report every year by logging on to annualcreditreport.com. This is the official web site supposedly set up by the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion, as mandated by the government. Obtaining the free report from Experian and Equifax was easy, but not with TransUnion. As a matter of fact, I haven't been able to get a free credit report from them since this program was started.

Every time I request report from TransUnion through the annualcreditreport.com website, it would ask me for my "TransUnion" log in and password. Years ago I bought a credit report from them and I created a log in name and password. I don't remember that anymore. When I click the "forget my log in / password" icon, supposedly it emails the information to my old email address that I haven"t used for years now. When I call them, they also ask for my old user name and password which I don't even remember. To make the long story short, I am not able to obtain a free credit report form TransUnion. I always end up paying for it, which they make it so easy to do. I believe that they designed the procedures of obtaining a free report so hard and complicated to re-direct the public to their pay-only website.

Trans Union is based in Chicago, Illinois, and is one of the three national credit bureaus, or consumer reporting agencies, in the United States. It currently handles data on approximately 160 million consumers. As a consumer reporting agency, Trans Union receives detailed credit information about millions of American consumers from numerous credit grantors including banks, mortgage companies, credit unions, auto dealers and others. Trans Union compiles this information into consumer reports and sells the reports to credit grantors nationwide.

In addition to its credit reporting business, however, Trans Union also sells a variety of target marketing lists through its subsidiary, Performance Data. Using the consumer information it collects, Trans Union creates lists of the names and addresses of specific categories of consumers and sells them to target marketers who in turn solicit the consumers to purchase goods and services.

*not only are they guilty of selling personal and private information to whomever will pay for it,

THEY BLOCK ACCESS TO FREE REPORTS, AND DRIVE MOST INTERNET AND PHONE TRAFFIC TOWARDS PAYING A 14.95/MONTH (180/YR) SERVICE.

THE LINK PROVIDED FOR FREE ANNUAL CREDIT REPORTS IN ACCORDANCE WITH The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)is annualcreditreport.com, but TRANSUNION WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY CREDIT INFORMATION AND WILL LINK TO A BROKEN WEBPAGE. THEY WILL ASK FOR VERIFICATION INFORMATION THAT IS INVALID OR OUTDATED, ALL GEARED WITH THE INTENTION OF DENYING PEOPLE ACCESS TO THEIR OWN REPORTS.

Why the government has not shut down TRANS UNION?
All the money they should be investing in customer service they are investing in lobbyists.
With the importance of a credit report/score in every american life, you would imagine this entity would be subject to the most strict standards, after all they determine whether you are eligible to loans and at what rates.
I've witnessed for many years horror stories about how this company fail to report accurate credit reports consistently.

I went to annualcreditreport.com as well. I was able to get Experian and Rquifax, but TransUnion was "experiencing a problem with the web site" and I was told to try later. Now when I go into annualcreditreport.com, the TransUnion selection says "Verified" and I can no longer get the credit report - it says I already received it. I'm not sure why I bother, no one seems to care about the credit report anymore. All creditors want a credit score and the one that you can get, after paying lots of money for, isn't even the one the creditors use! Thanks Congress for really looking out for the people! What a joke...

For me it is always a group of phone numbers in a city I lived in last in 1996. None of the numbers ever match a number of even my friends and family. Previous to that it was the card number from my JCP credit card from the eighties.

What is going on is they are trying to profit from forcing you to give them a credit card over the phone to pay for a new credit report... when in some cases you are able to get a credit report on your account. But when you are trying to dispute it, you are kicked off or logged off. You are entitled to a free credit report more than once a year due to the fact if you been denied a loan or even suspect being a victim of identity fraud. If you are having issues with the person you are dealing with on the phone with Transunion. Simply hang up and try calling back and hope you get someone else that knows what they are doing. Even though you forgot your username, they should be able to give it to you over the phone and send a reset to your new email address. You give them your new email address and they are suppose to send a special reset password link to the new email address your provide them. They cannot give you the password but should be able to provide you a username somehow.
I was lucky to have old credit reports that were really old... they started asking me for account information and account numbers from 10 years ago... otherwise they would not grant me access. They are a pain but I think they are cracking down because they probably got into alot of trouble! Here are two numbers you could try calling for transunion... I would recommend having a Transunion File Number if available otherwise they should be able to unlock access. Make sure you do not get off the phone with them until its confirmed you could log in... you should even be in front of your computer on Transunion website and logged into your email while you have them on the phone. They will tell you that nothing is blocked but they are not even checking your account so you won't have to keep calling them back.

I agree they are trying everything to make it impossible to get our credit score. I just tried and while Experian and Equifax were ok Transunion wasn't going to give up that information no matter what. I was told that I was not able to be verified online and that I would have to choose phone or mail verification, I chose phone. They then presented me with 6 phone numbers I never had and said I had to choose one. I said none they weren't mine. They said hmmm can't help you then, go and download and fill in this PDF file, print it and send it back to us by snail mail and we should be able to get to you in 3-5 weeks. Or you can go to our website and PAY, then you don't need the phone number (your credit/debit card will do just fine). What a ripoff, these people should be reported. Meanwhile they have inaccurate information on me I am unable to correct.

Similar...I know it is my right to get a copy of my credit report from each of the three controllers of our credit information and score. This is the first time I have tried to get it: Experian was fine, the other company's info is all wrong and I cannot get a free report from transUnion any way I try. They want me to give them my credit card and they will bill me in a month -- I do not want their alerts, counseling, passwords or anything else just my CREDIT REPORT.

THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO KEEP THIS INFO FROM ME OR ANYONE ELSE -- IT IS ILLEGAL.

I am having the same experience with TransUnion. After getting passes back and forth between annualcreditreport.com and Transunion and finally getting passes the security shell game, I get to the TransUnion link for a free credit report (It took a week of trying) and it denies me the report because it erroneously states that I already got the free report. What can be done about these credit bureaus proliferating false and duplicated derrogatory entries on credit reports and then making it nearly impossible to fix the errors with each credit bureau. We are being taking by highway robbers and there does not seem to be any recourse for the credit bureaus reporting false information or making it nearly impossible to fix. Can a congressman look into this and do something?

I had the same experience--three years in a row. Finally I sent in a complaint about it and they told me:
You have to mail in photocopies of your ss card, drivers license, and some utility bill.
I had to switch from paperless billing to postal mail bills just to get a utility bill for them (copies of online bills are unacceptable, they say).
I did finally get the report. It is, of course, terribly inaccurate. Wish me luck getting the disputed stuff off of there. No intelligent company should base their credit decisions on Trans Union reports because the company does not lift a finger to correct anything that's inaccurate.

I just tried to get my FREE annual credit report (only) from TransUnion. Every option on their website required submitting a valid credit card number or an online check. My credit card was charged $10.50. I have filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I plan to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I had absolutely no trouble with Experian or Equifax. TransUnion appears to be blatantly ignoring the law or, at the very least, using misleading business practices. Is this the kind of company that we want to allow to maintain and disseminate our credit information?

TransUnion scam and fraud!

Trans union is really funny, they are required by law to report accurate and up to date info, but recently they changed the company policy to no longer dispute inquiries. Well thats ok until I became a victim of i. D theft. After calling the other two credit bureaus and placing a credit alert on all three they removed all the unauthorized inquiries except trans union. I was told to contact the inquires directly and ask them to remove them. I have called sent letters registered receipt requested everything... Absolutely nothing in reply. I re contacted trans union and told them about this they said basically sorry we cant help my credit is ruined not from unpaid credit cards or loans etc but because trans union wont remove these charges that average about 10 hits a month I know 51 inquiries on trans union 48 are not mine the other 2 credit bureaus have 4 combined. I am now contacting my legislator to request help but hope this can get some action on its own.

TransUnion is a total JOKE!
I second that emotion.
The information that they carry is only half correct, at best.
I tried to set up an account to see if that helped and on the "verify your identity" page they ask me to verify what city some person, I've never even heard of, has a business in.
Go figure.
If you try to find someone to talk to about the website that is screwed-up, you can't.
Can't talk to anyone at corporate either. they're to good to talk to us peon's.

TransUnion is a total JOKE! I have a credit card, school loan, social security card and concealed weapons permit all in my married name that I changed 7 years. When I recently applied for a loan, TransUnion informed the lender that my last name was my previously married name. Social security and the IRS have it right and these clowns can't do that and yet they are SUPPOSEDLY gathering current, up to date information on all of us?!

Instead they told me I had FAX (fax...really? this is 2017) or mail (yeah! That's secure!) all of my important information over to them..driver's license copy, social, their file no. along with my current address. I spent an hour trying to fax them from a Staples. Mailing it makes me feel like a carrier pigeon would get it there safer and in more time. I am seriously not impressed. I'm 60 years old and have never seen such a ridiculous way of supposedly running peoples lives in my life.

I was offered a $1 credit report because of the recent EmblemHealth data breach. I thought $1 was a bit too good to be true, so I read everything carefully. There was nothing about a membership fee or trial fee or anything like that. I even did one for my wife.

My credit statement came and show two $19.50 charges. You can imagine how furious I was. Visa was helpful. They remove those charges and will block any future charges from Transunioun the scammer.

I got scammed by someone posing as a landlord wanting a credit report - followed their link to a website to fill in the information. It turns out I was signing up for a recurring monthly fee, which I had no idea I was signing up for and nothing on the webpage suggested such. It makes me wonder if people get a commission for getting people to sign up in this scamming way. The property agent/landlord never got back to me. I don't usually fall for this stuff but in the midst of trying to find a place to live I fell for the bait. Don't trust them.

Our credit bureau here in South Africa is also Trans Union, they still handle dispute for a fee, but they don't do anything to remove the info from your credit listing. I have contacted them, by phone and after submitting proof that all accounts except my house which I still pay off, no other credit outstanding. I had a Judgement that block me from getting credit the bank said Trans Union must remove it and Trans Union indicated that they did, but it is still on my record.
I am now also contacting legal service to get assistance.
You are right those people are mostly lazy and just are their to occupy space specially here in SA

I went online to get my free annual credit report that only cost me $12.97. After looking at the false information on my report I tried to dispute it online. No longer available. I called and was told to send D/L. social security card picture, utility bill and my complaint. My complaint is that the useless company wants very personal information sent by open mail to a company so incompetent that they can't do their job right. I tried to print my credit report after the charge for my free credit report and it contaminated my computer. Ran a four hour cleanup process and tried again and again it corrupted the system. Well, to make sure it wasn't my system I tried the local library computer and it too got corrupted. What a rip off.

The other Credit Bureaus, do not try to deceive or miss lead the consumer. They are very good. Not Trans Union. The personal questions info, that you enter is deliberately wrong and does not match your profile. When you go to the other two sites who have correct info i and Trans Unions is all wrong. Question it. If they force you to call a toll free number where you told to wait several weeks to get it mailed. Instead you get a fee charge and no report. It stinks and smells SCAM. They are a cheat and need to be band from this business. They bring shame to the industry. Question info on any report from this company. They cannot be trusted. The cheat seniors, disabled and low income. You may need a lawyer., contact your local state officials for assistance.

I got a free credit report and then they charged my bank account $11.95. I only found out who the company was through this web site. I called [protected] and talked with someone and they said I had a free trial but I have no ideal what I had as they didn't send any thing in the mail to show I had anything that I could cancel. They will not give my money back.
