walking on eggshells.
I am wondering if there are other associates out there experiencing the same thing as me.
I have been working at t. J. Maxx for around 3 years, (2 years "full time".)
Every three months or so I am called into the office to be reviewed. I am told that I may lose my full time position every time.
I understand that they're trying to run a very successful business, however, I know that I am helping and not harming the business.
I have good leadership skills, and I know how to train others. I take great pride in my work, and I am very detailed. Each night when I recover my department, I would feel comfortable if the c. E. O walked in the next morning. Sometimes I express to my manager that I don't understand what I can be doing so wrong that they would think it's necessary to demote me. My manager says that I am valuable, and I do a good job, and the coordinators that I work under everyday say this as well.
So I don't understand this threat. Right now i'm on a 90 day training program, and each day I must go into the office and read my workbook, and fill out the work sheets, and at the end of the 90 days they will see if they have to take away my position. I just feel like i'm constantly being intimidated.
When I ask exactly what lead up to this, the answer is always the same. "you just aren't where you need to be right now." this is as far as I can get when I want to fix whatever it is they need for me to fix.
Has any other full time associate experienced this strict, harsh intimidation without a valid reason?
management
There have been several situations where the management is very rude to their employees. The managers talk to the employees like they are children, calling them names, yelling at them as well. They get mad when you ask questions about things your not sure about. They do not properly train any employees. They are very under staffed. You basically have to lie and beg the customers to convince them to apply for the credit card so you dont get in trouble because you have not got none. I understand that its part of the job asking customers to apply but you shouldn't be threaten, treated bad or compared to by managers. The management at this locations does not care about their employees all they worry about is keeping their job because they yell or complaining to employees about what their DM saying to them. All the customers ask for more then 10% off their purchase for applying if approved or not. Alot of them dont apply because its not worth it to them they get nothing for applying and its a hard inquiry on their credit but yet we get in trouble cause customer dont apply. I feel like there is a need of some type of investigation in the the treatment of employees. I do not understand why there is no reports on this locations for poor management. For a company to be successful your employees should be treated good. Their is way too much favoritism at this location. Employees are being lied on by other employees about what work they are getting done and taking credit for it. If you havnt been there a long time they could care less about what you say or do. We are all grown men and women so no one should be treated like they are stupid, incompetent, or below another person. By all means if somebody was to work their undercover they will see what is really going on. Until something is done there will always be employees quiting left and right because of this poor management.

ivanka trump merchandise
It was reported months ago that Ivanka Trump Merchandise would no longer be sold by TJX Corp! That is not true have seen very much new merchandise in more than one store lately! The 20th Avenue Stre in Whitestone, Queens as well as the Mount Vernon, NY store! What's going on?I took many photos as proof! I will go to all Social Media outlets and report these findings and I will continue go from store to store to photograph and report my findings!
online ordering and phone response.
My wife purchased 7 sets of outside chair pads on line. We waited a week and received notification that two were shipped. A day later we received another e mail that the complete order was cancelled. We tried calling waited at an hour and finally gave up. Package came the next day, with two pillows and a bill for 179.00 plies tax . The pillows were marked 22x22 and offered that way on line. These were 17x19. Way to small. Called twice that day waited better then an hour each time stating 15 minute wait. Took to store and waited an hour and they couldn't get through. Finally I left and returned the two pillows first.
Your service is awful, your online ordering stinks, and I expect that We will have to fight for our additional credit to your TJM card. My family has been patronizing your stores ( TJM) (Marshalls) for thirty years .
Never Again.
need better customer service
I shop at your TJMaxx location here in Oxnard, CA all the time. I went in last night looking to find a few new pieces for my living room. I found two gorgeous green velvet pillows. Same exact pillows, one had been marked down to $12 and the other was at $20. The cashier assisting me asked the manager on if she could honor the price and all she said was "nope, leave as is." I thought it was very rude that she would not even come and talk to me about it and explain why she could not honor it. Its silly to make me pay two different prices for the SAME EXACT item. I had about 200-300$ worth of things that I was purchasing but because of your managers response I decided to walk out and not take anything with me. Business is business and that is not an approach I appreciated as a customer. This incident happened on 4/2/2017 around 8:50-9pm at your Oxnard TJMaxx at the esplanade shopping center.
4 metal cold cups
Hi I shop at all 3 of your stores and never had a problem, but recently bought my family 3 metal cold cups and 1 screw top bottle. Pictures included. The 3 metal cups rusted inside and the paint is chipping after only a few uses. The metal bottle tastes like metal and won't go away. I brought them into my local Marshalls and they told me there was nothing they could do for me since the tag was no longer on them. I paid $15 each for the cups and $10 for the bottle.
tjx credit card
Upon reviewing my account info today, I noticed that my credit limit had been cut in half. When I called them I was told it was because they did a review of my credit and found it unsatisfactory, therefore, they cut my credit limit in half. My account with TJX is in good standing and has been for years. Yet they cut my credit limit in half based on my overall credit report, which now hurts my credit score even more. I am disgusted that they would do this to a good customer. As soon as my account is paid in full, I will be closing this account and will never shop at any of their stores again.
office store manager
Ms. Chris the office store manager treats employees really bad with no respect at all. Screaming, yelling and puts them down. Some of them have quite because of that..
There was a girl pregnant and she will put her to work in layaway knowing that she couldn't climb stairs to get down heavy boxes and she said to her she didn't care. And that if she didn't like it she could quit and she's constantly screening and yelling at her employees especially the teens. I really hope you could do something before you get a lawsuit against your store just for people like her.
employee
What I think is truly unfair is that my coworker who I grew close to wasn't allowed to stay after th 90 day orientation yet Olivia Buckalew was not only allowed to stay, but got away with getting a DUI whilst being underage. This girl made sure everyone at work knew about what happened by posting it all over Snapchat and instagram and not even addressing it with the manager head on, instead they had to find out through social media as well. The fact you let an employee walk around With their head up high and proud about the fact they got in trouble with the law and even go as far as posting her headshot on instagram is disgusting. But what makes it worst is that when she was helping a customer on the floor she bragged about how she got away with it and how she is untouchable because she could always get unemployment from Maxx. I will never respect or even take this girl half serious as a leader again, or better yet the company. It is a very serious issue and it's not okay for her to be flaunting it and acting like it's a casual good thing.
penguin full size piece of luggage
Dear Sirs,
On January 27, 2017 my wife and I bought a 18"X29"x11" piece of luggage from the TJMaxx in Jupiter, Fl 33458, at 75 E Indiantown Road
We took a trip that brought us home in March. The first day walking the suitcase along the silky terrazza airport Floor in February, I noticed that some thing was funny about the piece. one of the two wheels in the back Handle Side was missing. upon inspecting same, it appeared to be broken off. we spend thousands in this store every year, and were shocked when the store refused to accept the return of the faulty Penguin product! Doesn't TJMaxx care about the products they sell. It wasn't terribly expensive, but if they don't hold their suppliers responsible, how can we rely on the confidence necessary to shop there. The Auth no is 01056G, AID A0000000031010, the piece was $69.99. it was charged on a Chase Visa, who are the next people I will contact if this can't be resolved. Think about what you buy luggage for, not some thing we purchase every day because they are supposed to last!
Please let me know if you can help resolve this Matter.
Best regards,
Edwin J Thompson, Visa card holderder

corporate
I was appalled that you signed the Ivanka Trump boycott. I know many
who are liberals (college town) who are equally upset. The problem is it
was a sign both of great immaturity and great weakness.
The boycott does not seem to be working so the egg is on your face where
it belongs.
I am advised my complaint should contain 350+ words. So how about this—
an entity that would seek to punish the child of a person they 'don't like' does not bode well for corporate success.
my bag got sent home with another customer.
I was in the Danville, ky store as I am at least weekly. I purchased a purse, 2 pair of sandals and a necklace. I paid for my merchandise and when I got home I realized that I had left my bag. My receipt was of course in the bag. I was informed that my merchandise couldn't be replaced so I lost $97.
I have never been done this way. I work hard for my money. My email is [protected]@gmail.com
I would love to have my merchandise!
Upset
I spent $97. I got home and realized that I had left my bag at the store. When I returned I was informed that I would not be able to get my merchandise or $ back. Naturally my receipt was in the bag. I spend at least $600 a month at this location.
rude manager
When I was checking out today, March 31st 2017, at the TJ Maxx in Steubenville, OH. I decided to paid with cash first, then attempted to pay the rest with my card. After paying with cash, the card was approved. But then it showed a $13 balance. The cashier was confused & so was I. She called the manager over. The manager came walking over & asked what the problem was. The cashier & I were explaining what happened. She, then, put her hand up on my direction, as a way of telling me to stop talking. I become silent & in shock by how rude the manager was. She then began to talk at me by raising her voice. I could tell she was very stressed out & irritated, as I had to ask her to, "please calm down" at one point! She was confused by what happened on the register & said that it had to be something the cashier did. The poor cashier was adiment that she did everything how she was supposed to, but the manager blamed her. I was at the counter for 25 minutes. It turns out, the cashier rang up an item or two twice. The manager voided and rang items up, then printed receipts out, then she said she would have to return the items. I quietly said, "I hope I have enough on my card for all this because I don't have any other money." She then returned the items & then she said to try swiping my card. I did, it was declined. She, then, said to try paying with cash first again, then swipe my card. I did, it was declined. She then said, "sorry, you don't have the money to pay for the items." I said, "I did though, I just got paid today." She said, "well it's not our fault you didn't have enough money!" I said, "you know, you have been nothing but rude this whole time, please just give me money back." She then gets the money out of the register & says loudly, "you didn't have enough money on your account!" Embarrassed, I said, "I did have enough money, but I was charged too much. Please just give me my money, so I can go home. That's all the money I have..." She gave me the money while saying again that, "it's not our fault you came shopping with not enough money on your card." I grabbed the money & walked out. I have never in my life been treated so horrible by a sales associate & this woman is the MANAGER! This woman, the manager, is the face of TJ Maxx when customers come into that store. She has represented TJ Maxx in such a bad light. I always shop at TJ Maxx because I love the clothes, shoes, and other items, but this woman made my day & shopping trip a terrible experience. The fact that this woman, who obviously cannot deal with the pressure to be in a managerial position by treating customers poorly & blaming other employees, has been somehow promoted into a higher up at TJ Maxx is concerning! I do not think I will be returning to TJ Maxx & I hope, in the future, the company can take further measures to ensure that all managers have excellent skills in customer service and sales experience.
horrible customer service
Went to Home Goods store at Charlotte, NC. Applied for their credit card. The sales woman screwed up big time, she didn't apply the 10% while billing the items. She apologized, called for help, that guy did something, refunded some part of it (which we later came to know) and then again re-billed all those items. Took almost 30 mts. Finally she assured that everything was taken care of and we would be charged only for the last bill. In that mess and tiredness, I missed to verify the receipts. The refund was not tallying with the original purchase. When we got the credit card bill via mail, we were disappointed and took these to the store. That guy was far from courteous, treated us like thieves and wasn't ready to even listen. We were trying to point out even the time difference between the receipts - all are 4 mts apart. He was such a rude fellow. We were pissed and called the customer care. That person pretended to have understood the situation, atleast apologized for the behavior of that sales guy/manager. The solution he gave wasn't quite clear, he was asking me to fax the receipts. He didn't know all the info about fax either. Anyways, I am in deep ****, so much I know. I don't think I would ever feel like shopping with them. Such irritating irresponsible fellows. PLEASE DO NOT EVER APPLY FOR THEIR CREDIT CARD
returns
I purchased a $40.00 pair of shoes in the past two weeks wearing them for the first time Monday. I wore them from my door, to the car, then from my car to work, 75 yards, and removed them. My feet slid around so that I am not able to wear them. I attempted to return them today, and was told there was "too much wear to take them back". I have purchased a number of items from TJMaxx since the Eldersburg location opened late last year, and even have their credit card. The male manager recognizes me as a frequent visitor to the store. I am completely disappointed that my shoes could not be returned; I cannot wear them! Does anyone ever consider the "wear" that occurs in the store, on the dirty floor, with various people trying on, and ambulating in, the shoes? I do not plan on returning to TJMaxx for ANY purchases, and will share my dissatisfaction on local social media.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lehmann
credit card automatic closure
My card was closed to inactivity. Consequently, the closure affected my credit. I do not see the reason why the closure is necessary if my payments were always up to date, and whether I frequently use my card or not. This was extremely unexpected, and as a consequence, I do not feel I should continue purchasing products in any of your stores. I hope this can be resolved, either reopen my same account and make the appropriate notification to the credit bureau, or potentially lose my customer service and that of my family. I would understand if this was done to ensure payment or the like, but I always paid on time and shopped at your stores. Please contact me and let me know if we can resolve this, as I am not going to apply for another card with you.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Yadira

customer service
I went into the Pleasant Hill Store, California last evening, 2/19/17 at approximately 6:30 pm. My purpose was to return a textured leather backpack (handles attached with fabric) and purchase other household items. I stood in line approximately 20 minutes. I got to the register with receipt and tag for bag in hand. The return was within the stated 30 day return policy. After 2 wears the handles, as I feared, started coming apart at the handle. The clerk was processing the order when the manager, Stefka, intercepted and immediately started stating loudly that she couldn't accept the bag because it had been worn and she couldn't put it back on the floor. I pointed out to her that there was a quality/craftsmanship issue and showed her where the seams were pulling apart. I went on to explain that I just started using the bag within the last few day but could see the bag. The texture of the bag also lends itself to a distressed look. With the bag on the counter and an arm's length distance from her face, Stefka says very loudly states that the bag stinks and accuses me of having food in the purse. There are no soiled stains or any evidence to support her accusation. She refused to return the bag. Stefka was extremely unprofessional, antagonizing and provoking. I would like to return the item.
discrimination
I am contacting you to find out if in fact you are removing the Ivanka Trump clothing line or no longer purchasing her products.
I would appreciate you stores discrimination policies on political views. This does seem to be all about politics. It is very disappointing to find that anyone would be punished for their political views. Since this can not be seen as anything other than political.
Middle American voted our president in to office. MIddle America shops at designer stores for less kinds of stores. I would hope you would remember your main clientele.
I have shopped at these stores for over fifty years. My husband was very happy to hear that you were going to boycott IT clothing line, since this would prohibit me from shopping in these stores in the future.
Do not discriminate against any person because of their political views.

Right here, right now, ask yourself, "What is my career plan B, C, D...Z?" You're not painted into any career corners, EVER. Jobs, save for government posts, are 'at will' positions, meaning all day, every day, ANY employer can dismiss you for any reason the company sees fit. Keep in mind, however, if you're full time and they DISMISS YOU, you're eligible for UNEMPLOYMENT $$ for which the company pays for to an extent. THUS, the ball's in your court - so long as you're not a probationary or temp employee. Let the manager home in on your shortcomings - 'room for improvement'. Do the best you can to remediate the 'flaw' - and do some documentation of your own -- citing (date, time, description) of your command, extra performances, devising solutions for coworkers/customers/flow/ - you get the idea), IN WRITING - like a journal - to share for your next meeting to diplomatically and professionally COUNTER negative observations. You'll fill your own professional referential cup AND RESUME, so if you decide to move on to bigger things, you'll have stellar proof in your resume pudding. This is only my opinion, not to be construed as career or legal advice.
Finally, parlay this experience as deriving emotional maturity. If YOU QUIT (cry baby), you're out an income, job and dignity - AND UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE. IF you stay, you grow and learn and YOU DECIDE TO leave for a better, higher paying post - KUDOS! This is how we do it! And, always be grateful for a job, no matter where your career path takes you.
