I recently interviewed for the Gastonia NC role on Monday April 10. The scheduled interview was at 1:00 pm but the manager was unavailable until 1:20. During the interview process her eat piece remained intact and she communicated with employees on the sales floor during the interview process. Although the store manager was nice I deemed those actions as unprofessional. As the interview wrapped up she proceeded with my pay amount and stated to not disclose any pay rate information with other employees. An employer can not state this to potential or veteran employees. I was appalled at the lack of professionalism displayed during this entire process.

I placed an internet order#[protected] on March 9,2023 for a set of the above set of four plates. When it was delivered, two of the four plates were badly broken. I had paid $29.99 plus $9.99 shipping. On the back of each plate was a TJ Max sticker with the price of $6.99. which would be a total price for these four plates at $27.96. I was able to return the set of four plates, which two of them were broken, to the T J Max store in Rib Mountain, Wisconsin but was only refunded the $29.99 + tax and not the $9.99 shipping cost. Needing/wanting these plates for an upcoming luncheon, I immediately placed order #[protected] for another set of four plates. When these arrived unbroken they had a Marshalls price sticker on the back of each plate that again was $6.99 for a total price for four plates is $27.96. I had paid $29.99 for these four plates plus another $9.99 shipping. In total, I had paid over $2.00 for these plates than the sticker price for both T J Max and Marshalls were charging on their price stickers and an additional $9.99 shipping due to the original order that came broken. When I spoke to the manager at the local Rib Mountain T J Max, she told me that this is the way it is and there was nothing she could/would do about the additional $12.00 that I was required to pay for these four plates. I feel cheated!

Employee behavior and unprofessionalism
On Oct 12 two payments of $415 were made to TJ max credit card, one to active account and the first payment incorrectly made to inactive account. I called 10/26/22 and was told a missing payment for the old credit card will get credited Ref#7852234. Did not get any refund back for the payment on old credit card, so I called again om 12/10/22, S/W RJ and was told that a refund will be issued in 7-10 business days. No check received. I called again 2/27/23 and spoke to jeff and was then forwarded to a supervisor named Jonathon Employee #1868 and he stated that he saw my request and will issue a check out. I got the check 3/20/23 in the amount of $415, yet I got a bill which shows that $415 check being charged back to me. I called again because of the charge back to me on 3/23/23 and spoke to Dustin who then connected me to the supervisor Jeff (employee#7597265). He was rude and accusative as I was trying to get more credit, he told me that I need to get a professional accountant to review my account as I seem not to understand it and I can call all I want but the charge stands.
This got me thinking as why he has made this comment to me. I called 4/3/23 and spoke to Megan Employee #31948 who was able to run through all my statement and found that there was confusion in this since Oct. She was explained to me the credits, purchases and payments in which clarified the account. I rectified the balances. Called the credit card back and had them cancel the check of $415 to bring the account to 0 balance.
Account manager Jeff (Employee #7597265) should not be a supervisor who has no professionalism and needs to go back to get customer relations training. He was absolutely rude and demeaning.
Desired outcome: Jeff, Manager to be retrained or not be in the position as a supervisor as he certainly has no credibility to do so.
Refund never sent
I have contacted the store in webster and apparently now they don't know what I am talking about there is no record. I am extremely upset as i went in and was told my card didn't go though, I showed her it did she said on her end it didn't and I couldn't take the Mercedese unless I paid for it. She also stated that if it did come off on my end it would be a charge back and go back on. I have never had an issue so went to the bank and paid in cash. The amount was 03/03/2023.

I feel this was a scam and someone pocketed my cash! These were also things for my children and yes, I did get my stuff, but I paid double now and it's not right and apparently there is nothing i Can do at this point? Discrimination
The TJ Maxx in Bakersfield, CA on Ming Avenue is only hiring Hispanics. This is a growing trend in some communities that have a significant population of Hispanics. When an Hispanic Mgr is hired they hire all Hispanics. All nationalities shop at TJ Max and all should be represented. I think TJ Max needs to be more aware of what their shops are representing and making sure all nationalities feel welcome. All should feel comfortable shopping at this store. I’m not sure if your other Bakersfield location has the same issue. I do my experience shopping at the TJ Max on Ming Ave felt horrible. I felt uncomfortable and that one culture was being catered too. Speaking Spanish to each other in front of individuals who don’t know their language.
Desired outcome: More Diversity
I work for Marshall in Northern California. As an Associate I feel i get discriminated because of my race. Assocaites work is not appreciated by the managers. Managers have their favorites. most of the employees that get hired are Spanish, the company boasts about inclusion and diversity yet they is no inclusion or diversity at the store I work in. The store manager is a favorite of the DM, so basically get away with not following some of the company policies. She does not care about Associates that work there. What you say is true, a Hispanic manager hires only Hispanic people.
Cashiers/managers
The cashier "Vivian" and 2 other cashiers "Jackie and a girl wearing a tie dye shirt were completely rude and when I asked to speak to a manager, one cashier stated she was one then called another one over. I was then told the cashier who stated she was a manager wasn't. When I then spoke to the "store manager" Erica her attitude was the same as her cashiers Vivian and Jackie. Worse experience ever! The Homegoods manager stepped in "Stephanie" and Jackie and another cashier approached her talking about me as if I wasn't standing there and a paying customer. All because I questioned how they priced my item without a tag! The store manager Erica had the most disgusting attitude and I regret ever spending a penny in this store!
Desired outcome: Absolute none! The store manager had the same disgusting attitude as her employees. It was completely rude. This was all over me questioning a big item that did not have a price tag or sticker on.
Sweaters
I have been shopping in TJ MAXX for about 40 years.For the past couple of years I have been noticing that the sweaters at TJ Maxx are made of poor quality. The sweaters attract a lot of lint or the quality of the yarn, etc. is very poor. I had to throw out a sweater that I only wore twice as a cover at work - it was shedding really bad. What is happening with your quality of clothing?

Lucas Luggage bought from TJMAXX on February 8, 2023
I purchased LUCAS luggage fromTJMAXX on February 8, 2023. I used this luggage one time on a trip I took on February 9, 2023. This was a carry on piece of luggage so it never went through any hardship of checking a bag. The rubber seam at the bottom is coming apart. I was told I needed to go directly to the manufacturer since it was used. The manufacturer wants supposedly "$5.00" before speaking to a customer service rep. I went to paypal and my charge was going to be $60.00. This is ludicrous! I just want to return and get my refund.
MAC Lipsticks - No product in the tubes
Recently, Amon or about 01/12/2023, I visited a TJ Maxx store in Schaumburg, IL and purchase a number of items including 6 tubes of MAC lipsticks to be sent to my friends overseas. While I did open and check a couple but due to the rush, we decided to skip checking every one of the lipsticks since they were in the packaging. To my utmost surprise, when gift wrapping the items I found that 4 out of the 6 lipstick tubes had NO lipsticks in them. Attaching photos of one such as proof & example. I have shopped at TJ Maxx stores for many years & this is the first time I encountered such a terrible experience. Am not sure if I trust this chain anymore & can recommend to anyone. Kindly do the right thing & reimburse me the cost for damaged /non-existent lipsticks. TJM personnel need to do a better QC at their stores.

Cash register return service.
A clerk asked me to walk to the vestibule to throw away a tjmaxx bag that I brought my return in. Said trash behind the counter was full. When I asked again she said she didn’t have a trash can behind the counter. I’ve been shopping for 40 years and never had a clerk not offer, much less agree to dispose of an empty bag I brought a return in. Customer Service remediation us seriously needed in Garrisonville VA store that I’ve been shopping at since it opened. I’m done. It’s Amazon or target for me. And, yes, I’d rather pay more.
Desired outcome: Retrain your staff. Customers are the reason they have jobs. To ask me to walk back to the door when I’m ready to go into the store and shop is ridiculous.
Stores
Why does T.J. Maxx and Marshalls open up at 10am but your dressing rooms open at 11am. You are a clothing store. Do you expect people to wait an entire hour to try on clothes? This is just ridiculous. People cannot afford to take clothes home and then at the rate of $4.00 per gallon of gas return what does not fit. I was at your Fenton location today and there were many angry people wanting to get in the dressing rooms. We were told this is a corporate decision.
poor service
It happened on 12/28/22 at about 7:45 pm. The cashier did not even greet me when I was checking out. The store was out of big plastic bags and only had small bags. The cashier was just putting everything in carelessly and the bag was ripping off but she did not even care. She did not even double bagged for the stuff. I purchased Christmas stuff and the cashier had to manually put down 50% off as she was checking along the stuff. She missed marking down one item and when I told her that she was not even apologizing. She was very rude and was not professional in handling the stuff. I had to spend another 5 minutes.
Customer service
I have been reading some of the reviews and I have found it quite interesting the amount of people who have been falsely accused of stealing in this company. I have been doing quite a bit of shopping in the morning hours before I have to be to work. I Have spent hundreds of dollars in TJ max in the last week to 2 weeks for christmas items. I was in the store today around 8:15 am I Have spoke with a few of these ladies in my many visits where I allways purchase something if not more than one thing. While I was in the store today I asked my fiance to please pay the water bill while I was pulling up to the store I had to take a photo of my credit card number and carried my card into the store I was putting it away when a women went behind the pole and picked up her phone whispering asking her other employee to call the police or to check the security cameras. I was treated unbelievable disrespectful for the remainder of my time shopping in the store. When I was asked a question I was ignored. A few days prior I had spoken to these ladies about possibly Applying for this store. I cannot belive how badly I was treated by these ladies in the Roseville, Michigan store off of frazho and instead of asking me to please check my back they treated me as guilty and disrespectful I am so discouraged at ever shopping in this store again I cant help but believe that part of this was due to the color of my skin. I believe TJ maxx really needs to be aware of how their employees are behaving seeing that this seems to be an on going issues. I plan to returm everything that was purchased during the holiday season and will take my business else where!
Desired outcome: I would like for these managers to not be allowed to ever treat another individual this way!
Store credit
I returned a few items to the Nanuet NY location on Sunday, Dec 4th btw 5pm-5:45pm.
Since I didn't have the original receipt I was issued a store credit in the form of a gift card which was understandable. The cashier went through the usual protocol of asking for my ID, anything wrong w the item, etc. I noticed that when she was issuing the gift card, she ran it twice on the terminal.
Fast forward to today, I attempted to use the store credit at the Shops at Atlas Mall location in Glendale (Glendale) NY. I was told that since my name wasn't associated w the card (there was no name attached to it at all) that I couldn't use it. I did not bother to save the receipt from Nanuet to support it. The manager came over and rudely said it wasn't her problem and that I had to go to Nanuet to have them fix it. Nanuet is 2 hours away. So now I'm out $84.- because of an error that a store associate made.
Desired outcome: Store Credit in the amount of $85 since the card that I have is not useable. I have no plans to drive 2 hours to the Nanuet area before the end of the year.
Complaining about the way manager was treating an employee.
Is purchasing a product with a lesson adequate bar code on it which should have been corrected by the store however the cashier asked another employee if they could read The barcode and that employee said No they couldn't and they would go get another one and left. They came back gave my cashier named Jennifer who was very sweet very kind The product and the manager yelled across this part of the cashier area in front of all the customers at Jennifer for having someone else go and get the barcode. Jennifer did not ask her to and this was very belittling and uncalled for and a professional.
Desired outcome: I think that this manager needs to be reprimanded and taught how to treat her place better. This was on December 1st the 26 Mile and Van [censored] store in Shelby Township between 11:30 a.m. and noon.
Code of conduct
I am an employee at TJ Maxx I have worked for TJ Maxx for 6yrs I started at TJ Maxx HomeGoods in Athens and transferred to TJ Maxx in Conyers. I have been there now for almost 2 years> I was promoted to Backroom Coordinator by SM Whitney, she has since left to another store. Our new SM is now Ron, who just recently came. I was taken to the side inside the store by Ron around May, June not sure of exact date. He proceeded to tell me I was no longer the Backroom Coordinator and stated my direct department manager Laurie said I wasn't fit for the job anymore. I wasn't sure what was going on my hours were cut to less then part-time. November 4 I came and helped complete a truck with over 10 pallets and when I was done I went to the office and asked the department manager Tina if she needed me to do anything else? She stated that I wasn't productive enough for her and I could leave. Friday, November 18th I was called that evening and asked if I could come in at 5am to work I which I said yes, I came in and was helping with 23 pallets I went to take my break at 845am and was then told we don't need you anymore your over your hours go home! I started looking for another job, a full time position a position became available at HomeGoods, I spoke with the store manager Michael regarding the position and I was offered the position on Monday November 21, 2022. Today Tuesday, November 22, 2022 I went into TJ Maxx to inform Ron SM I was transferring to HomeGoods, Ron got angry and stated that he was going to call HomeGoods and tell them they don't know what mess they are getting into with me. He started badgering me tell me the real reason your leaving, I know its just not because you want a full time position, tell me the real reason, I stated I need a full time position again. He then stated well your not leaving unless I say its ok or the DM says it ok. This is unethical and harassment and I don't know who to call to report this.
Boots
I've purchased boots in Middletown NY TJ Max last week and when I tried to put them on I saw that the zipper was broken. I tried to return them since the price is still on the boots expecting a store credit and I was told that they look like they were worn. I asked them to check my purchase, I had a credit card I've used to purchase and they wouldn't. Manager was unprofessional and rude. I left the boots and walked out. The boots were 39.99$.
Working in urine
I'm complaining about management at Tj Maxx in Queens N.Y. Atlas mall 11385. Yesterday Nov.11.2022. Around 11 AM a sewage pipe busted in the store. One manager quit and the other kept its employees working though the filthy urine with no protection for their feet or hands or face. They shut down the store at 7pm but still kept the workers. What can we do. Come home to throw out my clothes and sneakers which won't be reimbursed.
