Loan
I applied for a medical loan a while ago and after 2 co applicants they accepted the 2nd one, they have been messing us around ever since we got approved for $15, 000.00 after telling me do this do that do this calling my co applicants workplace, acquiring bank statements and calling him and emailing him every time there's a correction regarding MY payments and telling my Doctors office and my co applicant that the money would be released they now today decided they will not accept his signature on contract and everything else they already have because he doesn't have a photo i. d, he has an old health card with only numbers. Who would lie about that what workplace would lie and say someone works for them and doesn't. I'm waiting for surgery on the 17th of December at 10am, i've been rushing around for blood tests, heart tests and paid to get my form filled out by my GP after I was told after updating my co applicant on the new contract the money would be released. I've even offered to pay upfront 2 months to give him time to get his new i.d, he works 24/7 he leaves at 7am and doesn't come till midnight. This is not ok, they need to release the loan they said they would. I really think they will start asking for DNA next. They asked he get his signature verified by his bank RBC but he's asked and they don't provide that service. With the pandemic a lot has changed. They need to make some exceptions for people. They have my banking info his and everything apart from a photo i.d. Why have us sign a contract if they are going to play games. I need someone to respond to me because I'm not happy about this. I even paid out of pocket and I've got $430 worth of pre op vitamins and creams etc...
accounting dept
If I could do a zero star I absolutely would shane in accounts receivable is absolutely disgusting in his treatment of clients and doesnt let you ask a question without interupting and talking over you. This is to a well paying customer who never misses a payment ps. (for anyone who assumes it must be a late payment type of client leaving a review. Nope. I have great payment history and pretty great credit as well). You would think you were dealing with collection companies. How disgusting a company this is. I have 5/5 stars in my online reviews with all my customers in my industry which is as a finance manager and that's because I show respect to my clients. This company has unprofessional power tripping children working for them who clearly do not know how to analyze credit appropriately. I will be paying off my loan asap becaue this company does not deserve my interest rate money collected from me. I'm absolutely disgusted at how I was treated and spoken to as a 37 years old business woman providing my money to such a vile company. Supervisors and management and owners alike: if you care about your company perhaps you should consider hiring professional caring staff. What a joke. I will be leaving this review everywhere I can. Including better business bureau, google, yelp and spreading the word to everyone I know. Word of mouth is everything in business and i'm officially absolutely turned off by the treatment of workers to customers. Vile.
loan
This company provides loans. They really don't care who you are because in the end they lie about the terms and conditions of the loan. It's done over the phone and they cut and paste in the blanks and fax you a sheet with only a signature line. Now because it's for medical reasons yoibare taking this loan you don't care what you are signing because you are desperate and scared. The company know you are desperate and scared so they just sock it to you. If you need to change your address or bank information they will not help all they do I threaten you. If you need to negotiate terms because you are off disabled or sick and can't afford the initial payments, you guessed it, they threaten you. Nothing ever gets fixed they don't call you back, but then all of a sudden you get a call from some dude in your small town that just happens to know you because it's a small town with a claim for repayment some joke of a process server left in his mail box. You get another call from someone else that's not a relation but also knows you because you are from the same small town with the same last name. This company operates in a very grey area.
Ifinance and medicard started by a single mom that figured out how scams work and turned it all in to a company. You should check out her profile pic lol there isn't an original part to her face. She looks like Frankenstein!

unethical behaviour
This company sells your email address to spammers. A little trick for those using Gmail: Whenever you sign up for something online or in person, add a plus sign to your email address and put some sort of identifier. Here is an example: johnsmith+[protected]@gmail.com. Gmail ignores everything that comes after the plus sign, but will still deliver the email to your address. This is a great way to track those companies who can't be bothered to keep your email safe. Sure enough, a few months after signing up with them, I started receiving spam that was directed to the "+medicard" address. To say that I'm furious is beyond belief. Tried calling them to get the office of the CEO or someone in charge, but they don't seem to care.
I am currently on ODSP and Jenny has been harassing me for almost ten years constantly wanted updates on a file that was due from my deceased husband and I. We got terrible sick and were unable to pay. Both him and I had ODSP, now that he has passed it is just me.
She spoon fed me comfort food to get the info she needed and only then told me that unfortunately I have to pay money or we go to court.
I know my money is not touchable because it is government money.. Can I not sue them for emotional damage? The way Jenny yells and calls you names and behaves is so unethical I don't know how she can behave the way she does and this company gets a way with it.
What are my options here.
She has threatened court on me as of today if I don't pay the min 20$ then we will have to go to court after discussing this with her colleagues they refuse to accept no for an answer.
Any advice would be appreciated here.
Thanks
can't be trusted
This company is disorganized. We were approved for the loan. Unfortunately on the day 1 of my.procedure after all the info and contract signed...we get a phone call stating we need a cosigner! ! Are you kidding me? DAY 1 of my.procedure and they give us that BS! We talked with them for a month about everything and got approved and sent the signed agreement in! Dont deal with them! You think you have their financing secured when everything is sent back and signed. You don't! ! Now we owe money to the doctor for cancelling the procedure. Thank medicard for making us look bad you bunch of jerks!

I took a loan from Medicard and one week later I changed my mind and decided to repay the loan. I was told that I have to pay about $58 (6% of finance charges). I agreed bc I know nothing is for free and that fee covers admin work. Medicard was quick to withdraw the full amount from my account (the loan + fee), however, one month later they withdrew $149.99 from my account. They forgot to cancel the pre-authorized monthly withdrawal. When I called them to advise about this, the lady said that the $149.99 was finance charges and I still owe them another small amount which will be withdrawn next month. I asked to speak with David as I was in communication with him a month ago. He confirmed that it was their mistake. I asked for my $ to be deposited back into my account asap as I need the $ to pay bills. I told him that it is their error and they should deposit the $ to my acct. He asked me if I never made a mistake like this before? What is wrong with ppl that are supposed to provide good quality customer service? He also told me to go to the back to refuse the pymt which means I have to take time off work to do so or wait 20+ days to get a cheque from Medicard. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!.
Have no idea how they found us. Never had any loan from them.
A threat should be returned to them. Leave me alone !
paying off account
Wow, this company really makes it impossible for people to pay off their loans. If paying outside your regular payment date you are charged a $30 transaction fee (ok), and you have to sign a bunch of documents. Needless to say, I had arranged to have Finance Medicard take a payment from my account for the FULL balance that I had left owing on my account. My payment date rolls around, and they "accidentally" withdraw only my regular payment, and not the full balance. I emailed their manager to find out what happened and get everything straightened out, two days and no response. I emailed them another time and again, no response. I was beginning to get really frustrated so I called them, and was put on hold for over 1/2 an hour. It seems to be impossible to pay off my account or get in contact with anyone that can help me. Don't take out a loan from these people!

fraudulent company
This company is a scam. They phone me approx 5 times a week for months and leave threatening messages that they need to talk to me about an account that I have with them. I had never heard of them before they started phoning me and I know that I have no such account. When I did talk to one of their customer service rep.'s they told me that I had taken out a loan with them years ago and wanted to confirm my account information by asking me personal information such as birth date etc.. When I asked to speak with their manager they said that he was not in the office and that I would have to leave him a message. I imagine that this company preys on seniors and other vulnerable people who don't realize that they are a scam. They need to be shut down.

rude
The only person in the place that has any sense is James, i dont know how Pierre ever got a supervisors role if thats even his role..my bank screwed up my account so i call Medicard righr away to let them know, because they had not recieved the NSF yet i was told to WAIT for a phone call, instead i get a letter deamnding payment. When i call i was told im no longer on the account they need to speak to my husband...(who sent in a fax 2yrs ago to say i can speak on his behalf) the man is rude and obviously they dont want there money and am being charged more interest in the meant time i would NOT recommend getting finance with these people if i had another option of doing my operation i would have done so...there are no customer service skills what so ever. And if anyone knows where i can send a complaint to a manager in corporate or something like that it would be great.
finance for laser surgery
I needed eye surgery done with Bochner Eye Institute and Bochner offered me that if I go with the Medicard finance program they would let me pay the total amount cost within 12 month period without any interest added to it. The financial associate from Medicard assured me that they will take out equal amounts within the 12 month period after the surgery is done and that it will all be paid off. I had the full money to go ahead with the surgery but i said why not just pay it off within 12 month rather than all at once hence i said okay and went along with medicare. After, signing the papers Medicard started to withdraw small amounts from my bank but did not send me any mail or call backs. Also, I was not allowed to make payments from my end. Only they can with draw the amount. I didnt notice but they made me sign a contact for 24 month rather than 12 month. After one year has passed i was confused why I was still paying and when i contacted midicard they explain thats whats on your contract. They were very unfriendly and rude. If you ever get offered to get any type of financial loans from Medicard be aware that you will not get any mail for your financial transactions. Also, look carefully at the contract agreement and not what they say to you on the phone. Medicard Finance inc will do anything to take your money!

In Oct 2010 I was looking into my credit score to make sure everything was ok (as I do every 8 months). I noticed 3 companies that did a hard inquiry, including Medicard. I didn't know who they were so I went to look on the web and called the next morning. I asked them why they looked into my credit score and next thing they asked me: when will you be making a payment?!?!?
Turns out someone used my name and got a $5000.00 loan for a procedure that happened in June 2010. (1 week after that phone call I got a letter from Medicard telling me they were sending me to collection for non payment). They had to investigate and found that the loan got approved with NO real picture ID... it was an immigration paper issued in 2006 with no pic, and I was born in Canada... NO SIN, NO DOB... only a previous address when I lived in a condo and probably received some mail and the scammer picked it up and used the address and name. They recognized it as a fraud and said I don't have to pay... but refuse to remove from my credit report... and I don't want it there... I am going to consumer affairs with this and I suggest you guys do the same as well... write compaint letter to Medicard and send it registered mail canada post... if they don't answer within the time you ask them to, send that letter to consumer affairs and explain the situation. Maybe they can help :)
Good luck people!
never use medicard
The reason i have decided to sumit this complaint is to prevent anyone else from having to go through this much trouble with a company. I must say it was quite simple to aquire a loan from medicard the problem lies in the fact its almost impossible to pay off the loan. I had phoned in a month ago asking what the best way to pay them. A fax needed to be sent stating the amount to be withdrawled from my account and signed. So, i sent in the fax. On the date the full amount was to be taking out only the usual monthly amount was taking. So, after a week i spoke with a employee who was very understanding but otherwise un - helpful. He said he would have the money taking out asap and would call the next day to confirm. He never called me back nor did anyone else. Two weeks later i call again and speak with a female employee who says she will have the money taking out and will make sure no interest will be added from the time that i have been waiting for the money to be taking out. About 2 hours later i recieve a call from the manager "pierre" who rudely informs me that they can take the money out but i will have to pay the interest up till the time it will be took out! I really dont care about paying $20 or so dollars but the fact that i have been calling and speaking with pretty much everyone in the company and "pierre" is making it seem like this was my fault. All in all medicard is a joke of a company that no one should ever use.

Is Medicard and Petcard by the same company ? I was looking into financing with Pet card but will NOT be if these comments are affiliated with their service !
I feel same way the website does not tell customers all the information so i phoned today to find out my balance and my loan was 1679 from last year but up to today its still at 1621 how is that possible? No one tells you they add on 6% i found out today they hide all info on their website its a scam and rip off they just want money so they do not explain anything i spoke to lady when i applied she never even mentioned on the phone how it is and what to expect. They do this deliberately in case customer says no.What a scam.
This company is not fit to deal with, do not apply to this company for a loan it will cost you a fortune, they are SCAMS, & Very Rude to deal with if there's anyway you can get a loan with another company even if the interest is a little higher go with them not MediCard !
After reading these comments I have decided as well to tell you a little about my experience.
In my case, I was not a client of theirs, but a victim of fraud.
Back in 2009, I go on and complete my routine yearly credit report and notice a a company called Medicard - never heard of them. I immediately called and the first person I spoke with (they asked my name) asked me when will I be paying my $5, 500.00 loan. I said I have no loan with them, and insisted that I was approved for a loan for a breast augmentation surgery done 4 months before. After arguing I asked to speak with a supervisor and then Pierre came on the phone (I remember this like it was yesterday... french accent). He was so so rude . I asked them I wanted to see my application, they refused saying they can not do it for security purposes. What?!?!
Long story short... I lived in an apartment building a few months before and someone probably grabbed an envelope with my name and address. They did not have my Date of Birth or SIN or ID.
Apparently I was a co-signer... I managed to get a copy of the ID used... it was a immigration ID (I was born in Canada). You couldn't see a face, it was too dark and the person had short and super curly (kind of like afro hair) which is opposite for me. I have always had super straight and long hair.
They had a fake ID, a name and address and nothing else and the loan got approved! They did ask me for my signature to prove it's not me... and they admitted it is not the same signature
On top of that, it took at least 3-4 weeks to clear it up and removing from my credit report. I had to add a fraud alert note on my Equifax and Transunion to avoid future fraud.
I received a collection letter 1 week after this all started... but I found out through the credit report earlier. Everyone should check their report once a year.
That was such a bad experience... They clearly approve loans very easily without checking much.
I had applied and gotten approved for $7, 500 over a 60 months term, I had asked them to reduce it to 24 months. I had been making my payments on time, every month for 13 months until I lost my job. I asked them to hold the payments for a month or two until I was able to get myself back on my feet. They refused and told me they would still withdraw the money and if it doesn't go through, then too bad, I'd have to pay NSF charges. I called my bank and stopped the payments for 2 months (as I had originally requested Medicard). They started calling and harassing me 2-3 times a day asking me to remove the stop payment immediately. I politely told them each time that I am in between jobs and will pay as soon as I land another one. They accessed my credit file (no problem), saw that I have a car financed under my name and asked me to stop making car payments to pay them. I told them, I will lose my car, how does that make sense? They told me to sell it then (?). Fast forward to a few weeks later, I found a new job and updated my LinkedIn. Within a few days, they must have been checking my profile, they called me at my office to see if I work there and when I asked them how they got this number or how they knew I worked there, they hung up on me. I called them back and asked to speak to a manager, I landed on the famous Jenny, who threatened me by saying if I don't make payments today, it won't be good for me. Needless to say, they are a horrible company and ridiculous to deal with. I had another year left on my term, so I cashed out my investments to pay them off and get rid of them. At the end of the day, it's their loss. Had they been a little patient, the payments would have resumed and they would have made more money (interest) off of me. Too bad for them.
K seems like everyone signed the first set of papers that they were given I don’t think there are issues but I didn’t just sign the papers they originally gave me... 17.5 %interest or higher right ? Well I called them and got 8% seems like people just screwed themselves not the company ...
I applied with Medicard in February and was approved for $6000. I booked my consultation with my Doctor in March and booked my surgery for May. After the consultation, I called Medicard and they told me my application had expired. I asked how that was possible as I only applied in February and was told that the loans were good for 3 months. They said I would have to reapply. Now I've re-applied and am only approved for $2000. I have already paid $1500 towards my surgery as a deposit so now I'm out that money and can no longer get my surgery. I am extremely upset.
i applied to get a loan to have my cat seen at a vet. i was preapproved for the loan. I sent a void check and my Id, they got back to me and said that I needed a date for my cat to see the vet, which I did and told them so. They said they would call the vet to confirm then send me documents to sign. i am still waiting for those documents. anyways what kind of company is this that they are not organized..getting frustrated.
Thank God i read this thread. Almost fell prey to this thieves today by applying to them. I will post on facebook and advice everyone i know and do not know to not make this grave mistake. How they sleep at night i have no idea! Jeeezzzzz! reading all these made me sick to my stomach that people will be so comfortable ripping vulnerable individuals like this. And for the medicard rep who posted the long obvious post, please try something else! SMH
i was going to use medicard to pay for my dental procedure time and time when documents were sent they said they never recieved them then five days before my work on my teeth were to begin they wanted more info before they released the money even though i passed the credit check each time the person used a differant name i finally got fed up with there stupid crap blew a casket and told them i had enough of there crap no thanks i will use my credit card
