Contact information:

I just saw an unauthorize charge for $2.01 for who knows what the heck they're charging me for...I never order any damn magazine and called the [protected] number and the place had already closed but what the heck is TMX anyways???? I don't even know what it stands for... HOw the heck does these scammers find our account numbers??? Shoot, luckily I check my bank statement almost every day so tomorrow I'm going to the bank to let them know or my husband can go in and check on that charge. It's pending today but tomorrow it might go through so I'm going to get there ASAP so I don't get any more charges for nothing...Ugh, low life ### need to rot if they're trying to make money by charging people's acct for no good reason.

I just discovered an unauthorized debit out of my checking account from these people too for $29.00 - called them yesterday and they said they would refund my money. I had never even ordered from them - I already have a subscription for the mag from another company. Lo and behold the money was not refunded. I called again today and demanded they return it - got the same story but this time "it takes a couple of days" they said to refund it. Bulls#!! It was just pending yesterday and now it's gone through. These people should be stopped legally!

HUGE SCAM. SO LISTEN UP!! I’m disabled but took hours to investigate and write this down for you because I'm mad as heck as I've been burned too (WITH MY TIME AND ALSO, I had to cancel my bank account and reopen one!!). If you bought from Magazine Direct, the MAIN COMPANY IS…. SYNAPSE!!! Google for "Synapse Group” so you can see the legit company departments and you will see the “Magazine Area” the Privacy tab on the magazine side has different than the companies “Privacy Tab" (if you happen to see it in the grayed area on the bottom)! This is important as they might sell your personal info and more people will be bugging you!!! So to get there go to another tab on your Browser, here is their privacy info:
    http://www.timeinc.net/subs/privacy/synapse/synapsegroup.html
In the privacy info, they offer two places to opt out of them giving (selling?) your name to other companies: http://321mags.com/synapse/optout
    http://321mags.com/synapse/optout/email.php
While they are taking your orders for magazines or for others things (and they are sweet sweet smooth talkers), please notice – they do not want to give you THEIR telephone #, OR YOUR order #, or CONFIRMATION #, THEY MIGHT CALL IT A CUSTOMER ID# and sometimes they promise you THEY’LL EMAIL IT ALL TO YOU TODAY - BUT THEY DON'T!!! HERE ARE SOME PHONE #’s TO TRY Magazine Direct 800-607-9869... 888-716-9808 and 866-254-3715 AND, No one can tell me why they are tacking on INTERNATIONAL PURCHASE FEES!!! They are only small amounts $.05, $.75 - but are they selling our personal info to overseas companies? I HAVE ENOUGH PAPERWORK AND THE LITTLE LIFE THAT I HAVE! I decided not to tell you my horrible story, but maybe if someone is a go-getter, they can go after SYNAPSE and make them come clean. If you read ALL of their privacy statement, they take no responsibility for ANYTHING! Now if you read this and if I am wrong, I also do not take responsibility if anything I have said is in error. I might be right, I might be wrong, my name might be write or wrong, even my telephone # haha. I researched it because I was frustrated with the inability to get in touch with anyone. Thanks for listening. 

I have been charged for 4 magazines that I did not order. They have removed some of them but not the full amounts. A also am 142.00 in overdraft fees. This company is ridiculous. When you have to talk to a computer like that it doesn't give you too many options. I am waiting for a response to see if they take care of the overdraft fees.

They had charged me for 4 different magazines. They have reimbursed me for those charges. I am waiting to see if they cover the overdraft charges as of so far of 207.84. I just sent them a copy of my bank account showing charges and overdraft fees, my email address and my name.I did that today. I faxed that info to #207-866-6099. I am waiting to see if they cover them. If they do I will let you know.

I had commented before that they were going to credit for the overdraft charges, they refuse to now, They did credit everything on all the magazine charges. They stated to me that I had went on a website a gave all of my information. I did not do that, this company is a bunch of thieves. The wont refund charges of overdraft being that it was done on the internet. He kept telling me to read the info on the site. They couldnt give a direct link as to where these transpired only that it was my information. He practically called me a liar. Their customer service # is 1-877-294-6899. This is for everyone because it is hard to get this number. they also claim they dont ask for a phone number. When I first called their 800# it said to me the number that I am calling from is different from the number that they have on record. This company needs shut down. Isnt our president screwing our economy bad enough w/o having businesses do this to us to.

Synapse Group Inc. has their grubby f***ing hands in hundreds of thousands if not millions of middle class citizens bank accounts with out them even knowing. F*** this company. I noticed I was being charged for multiple magazines that I had free trials for since 2009. If you don't cancel after three months they start to charge you. This was not the problem even though I never gave them any of my account information (they acquired it through a third party). The problem is trying to cancel your subscription and the amount of time and stress that goes into it. After I noticed I was being charged for the magazines I promptly called the number in my bank statement to find out what the charges were for (I didn't know exactly what it was for because it had been so long) and talked to someone they hired to make your life a living hell and not help you out in the proses. I found out I was being charged for magazines I had never received (they were sending it to the wrong address even though others were going to the correct address). I then canceled all the subscriptions and was given a refund for the magazine I never received. Great right. NO. I just found out they were still charging me for three of the magazine (that I had canceled) a year later and there was a initial charge for the magazines that I never received that was not refunded. Sneaky F***ing liars. Now I have spent countless stressful hours trying to resolve this problem. I was refunded for the last three magazines but also received three overdraft charges at 34.00 (Chase bank is a whole other problem) dollars each that have not been refunded yet. What a bunch of crooks. I hope the ceo/owner of this company gets cancer in his d**k. I would love to be in a high power so I could sue the f**k out of this piece of s**t company.

I was also refused refunds for the overdraft fees I received from the thieves at Synapse Group Inc. I found out when I canceled the first time a year ago I was misled to believe that I was no longer going to be charged and that everything was canceled. What I didn't know was that all he (the person I spoke to) did was put some kind of payment extension of some sort on three of the magazines so that a year later they would start charging me again when I specifically ordered the cancelation of all magazines. To make matters worse I found out that the cancelation reminder that they are supposed to send you was sent to a incorrect address, the same address where they sent the two magazines I never received and was charged for regardless. Something has to be done about this greedy company but most likely nothing will be done and these fat cat executives at Synapse Group Inc will keep getting rich of the backs of the people that they mislead . Hey Rollingstones (which is distributed by Synapse Group Inc) look no further for the greedy 1% fat cats getting rich off the poor and middle class. You and your affiliates are the problem. Dear president Obama, do you realize how many people this is happening to everyday because of this piece of s**t company/corporation. Do something. This is the real problem.

I hope one of you agrees to the terms of service one day without reading it and end up giving up your own properties, Also to the people with the overdraft charges... YOU SUCK AT MANAGING MONEY! I.m having the same problem too! I finally got ahold of a live rep for this co. today 27 feb 2012 complaint listed above. Here is the number for live rep again 1-877-294-6899. They charged renewals for 3 mags not renew but I had a previous special offer. They gave me a partial refund on 1 mag and nothing on other two. I tried to cancel these as soon as I saw the unauthorized charges but their automated system dose not really give the option to totally cancel for immediate refund. The gentleman today said, well Ill have to run this buy the billing dept and see what they say. I'm like what! I just cancelled and did not even get any mags! So then I'm told that they will get back to me by phone in 3-5 business days. I will come back in here next week and let you all know what happens.

I too have had 3 magazine charges of $34, $39, $36. Had I been notified they were going to do this would have been the professional way of handling it When I called, I got an automated response even though I pushed zero for the operator, the automated voice just continued to ask me questions.

I was charged an overdraft charge because of these charges and have yet to get resolution from it. I guess the only step to take is to contact the better business bureau, because this company obviously sends free magazines, then charges you after a period of time, but I am unsure as to how they get your account number to make these unauthorized automatic withdrawals?

I have cancelled my subscriptions because of this, even though I enjoy the magazines that I received. I will buy them from the grocery store.

I wonder if they read their complaints? Probably not.

great to see all these problems--this service is corrupt. I never received a renewal notice and they kept charging my credit card for years. i contacted Wine Spectator directly and told them to cancel but it turns out they have no control over this so the magazines kept coming and despite my effort to cancel it never was processed since wine spectator did not control the account. This service is a con job. I believe they owe me for 8-10 years of fraudulent charges plus interest. Doubt if i will ever get a refund or a call back--Buyer Beware--FRAUD

PS--renewal notices from Wine Spectator sent back with "cancel". It turns out this was meaningless because they could not cancel the subscription and never informed me. I NEVER receiving a renewal notice from magazine service company.

I have a similar problem. i ordered 4 magazines as part of a gift for taking part in a bizsurvey and lo and behold one year later i am being charged for renewing these magazines at a very high rate. I never requested the renewal and never received a renewal notice. Thanks for the number 1-877-294-6899.. I called and they were very pleasant as some of you mentioned. They said I would receive a refund in 3-5 days. i will wait with fingers crossed to see if this happens.

After a purchase I made I was asked to take a survey from Forsee for a $100 gift. After I took the survey they showed that the gift was to choose 4 magazines from a list to receive for free for 1 year. They charged a processing fee of $2.01 and that's how they got my credit card information. There is then a box where you have to agree to the terms and agreements which contains pages of small print to which we all just click the agree box.

It turns out that in that small text there is something that says that you will be charged for automatic renewals of the magazines that you "purchased". Some "gift"! After a year of your "free" magazines, you keep receiving magazines and wonder when they will stop. But secretly they are charging your account under the company name of TME*... When I realized I was being charged it was my credit card company that explained what was happening and they gave me the telephone number which is 855-226-0431.

When I called it was an automated system giving you options, but no option to talk to a representative. After I exhausted all of the options, the only possible one being to cancel, I finally said "speak to a representative". I did not want to "cancel" something I had never purchased to begin with because that implies to me that I would be responsible for charges to date.

After that an automated system came on saying that it could help me with all problems a customer service representative could and would I like that. I said "NO!". It said ok and that it would connect me with a representative. After about 20 with the phone on the counter on speaker while I was on hold, a representative came on the line. She insisted that no scam had occurred, that everything was legal, and that when I checked that "agree" button for my "gift" I had purchased the magazines to renew annually charging my account.

Angrily I finally got her to listen to me that not only did I want them to stop charging my account, but that I wanted all charges refunded. She nicely said ok, I'll cancel your charges and you agree to renew all your subscriptions at this time too? They don't stop! I then made it clear, yelling at this point, that I didn't want a thing from them ever again. No charges. No magazine renewals. No new subscriptions to ANY magazines. Finally she let up and agreed to do what I said. She even refunded the $2.01 I had been charged initially. I have been prompted after several store's purchases online to complete the Forsee survey, but after being drowned in magazines I never took the survey again. I didn't even know then that I was being charged for renewal fees from my previous "gift". What a scam. I am reporting them.

There is NO FREE LUNCH. After completing a “survey “, I was offered 4 magazines for $2 for each subscription for a total of $8. So unlike me I “bit” on the offer. Today I check my bank account and there was a charge for $61 from a strange place in New York. Welll turns out THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. They charged my card without my permission. Then I called and could only get the automated system. Finally I did get thru to someone that could barely speak English (probably a foreign country). I proceeded to tell her CANCEL EVERYTHING BECAUSE I DONT CARE ABOUT THE $2 MAGAZINES. I WILL CALL THE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND TAKE LEGAL ACTION FOR UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES. BUYER BEWARE. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. I AM USUALLY VERY CAUTIOUS. THIS TIME I SLIPPED—NEVER AGAIN!
