Kmart Storesreturns

On April 4th I bought 3 pairs of shorts. I lost the receipt unfortunately. I went to Queensbury Kmart today, May 3rd to receive a refund or an exchange, or store credit . Customer service would not do anything for me . The tags were still on the shorts.See Top 10 Worst Companies in Queensbury, NYI can understand not giving me a refund but I can't understand why I couldn't do an exchange or store credit. I am now stuck with 3 pairs of shorts I can't use.
I am now a very dissatisfied customer.
Walmart would never have given me such a hard time. That's where I am shopping from now on..
