Citibank false advertisement

I have kept all correspondence between myself and these companies. My first correspondence wa son Nov.27, 2008 at 0731 p.m. with a Rev. Larry Smith E-Loan lender who described the demographics of the company and the information I needed to send in.
My second correspondence was on Nov.28, 2008 at 0852 a.m. and the subject was loan agreement/conditions and repayment schedule in which I had no problems with the laid out plans and when I attempted to fax over the information requested the fax number did not work and the recording was that the cellphone number that I was dialing was not in service. I called the +[protected] number and did not reach any one however when I e-mailed Rev.Smith and told him of the recording he wrote on Nov.28 at 1037 a.m. there is a problem with our fax and I was advised to send everything via mail or call them using the office mobile number. On the 29 th Nov I was sent a letter to send in the insurance fee for the loan amount of $300 in which the company shared co expenses and after the loan amount has been insured in my name Rev.Smith states he will immediately send me the LOAN INSURANCE CERTIFICATE. Dec1 0437 a.m. I was instructed to go to Western Union and the Receiver's Officer's Name: Mrs.Mercy Lawrence
Receiver's Address: London, United Kingdom. After the payment is made I was to provide hm with a scanned copy of the receipt of payment and at the bottom of this correspondence it reads; be rest assured as soon as the payment is made as the payment confirmation is received your loan will be insured and a copy of the insurance certificate will be sent to you for your upkeep and your loan transferred without delay and it will only take 48 hours. Of cousre after I sent in the money and sent the information requested I received another correspondence reading top of the day madam, this mail is to inform you that we have receive the payment for the insurance fee and it has being duely utilised. The loan has being insured, so you are to contact our affiliate bank immediately for the immediate transfer of your approve loan. Bank Name CITI BANK ACCOUNT OFFICER; KEVIN KESSINGER EMAIL CITI.[protected]@National-Champs.com. When I contacted him he instructed me to contact Mr.Marthin Botha e-mail [protected]@live.com telephone +[protected] in order to purchase the C.O.T. code. Now I was given an account number and a pin number but ran into this wall saying I needed to purchase this code . When I sent the monies for this there was another charge and I asked for my money back and to cancel the loan in which they offer less monies that I would have to send in and I told them no and I want a full refund of cost to send through Western Union and the fees themself. No where in the process was I informed of additional cost for codes or anything.

Hi, Truth be told,

This is a classic scam, you are now the subject of a "scammers list" and you will be targeted repeatedly, I;m sorry to say. You should consider changing your email address immediately, and also get some advice on things like this. Western Union is the preferred method of money transfer by international fraudsters as it cannot be rescinded. The one thing I would like to point out is that you say your first correspondence with this company was an email where they told you all aobut their demographics. I can bet you it wasn't the first correspondence. Did you respond to an unsolicited email or did you click on an ad somewhere for a loan with really good terms? That's usually how they get you.
Sorry to hear you got caught out, but please get some advice to stop these people targetting you again in future.
Have fun
Brad

Citibank scammed

I have several complaints regarding my business with Citi Crdit Protector.

When I opened an American Airlines miles rewards card with Citi credit they offered me the free introductory trial offer to credit protector. Following the trial period I opted to retain the service as I am in the Army National Guard and the possibility of deployment was apparent.

Sure enough, June 2006 I was deployed to the Middle East for a 16 month deployment.

I immediately called Citi credit protection who asked that I provide a copy of my orders, which I did.

In Sept. 2006 I was told by my wife that we received a "nasty-gram" from Citi for non-payment since June.

Following several phone calls to Citi from overseas (using precious phone card minutes) I was told they would do nothing other than to start my Credit Protection benefits at that time. I still show late payments on my credit report as a result of their incompetence.

Hold on it gets better...

Upon returning from my deployment I called immediately to advise Citi credit protection that I was back, and to cancel my service with them as it didn't really "protect" my credit.

Long story short, I have called repeatedly since them to cancel my service, which they haven't, even after I had cancelled the credit card itself. Citi Credit protection has cost me a lot of money needlessly, not only for charges for a service I wanted cancelled, but also for increased balance fees, over balance fees, etc.

The outsourced (India?) lady on the phone again assured me that an investigation would take place and that $60. would be refunded.

Bottom line, don't get hooked up with this scam of an organization that not only fails on their promise, but also continues to scam dollars from you any way possible.

Citibank rude personnel/harassment

After our harrowing experience with citibank, I strongly advise everyone, don’t get a citibank credit card! This is quite a long read, but I hope you take heed.

When we started having financial difficulties, I called citibank to inquire of any arrangement we can avail of that would allow us to pay my father’s outstanding balance on a reasonable installment basis. But I was told that no such arrangement was available.

Failing to make payments for a few months, the account accumulated. Paying only the monthly minimum amount incurs huge financial charges and even more penalty/service charges if not paid on time. Citibank personnel started calling us at the office, house and on mobile even as early as 6am or as late as 10pm. If unable to speak to the cardholder directly, these people threatened anyone who took their calls. Not even children were spared from their foul language.

As soon as we raised enough, we made arrangements with their designated collection agency (Law firm a) to pay the account in full at a discount. After signing the appropriate agreement form, we paid the agreed amount at an authorized bank. We faxed the payment slip to the law firm and they confirmed receipt of the payment by citibank.

We requested for a clearance letter certifying payment and closure of the account. We were told that this letter will be sent to us directly by citibank. After not receiving the letter as promised, we repeatedly called the firm and were always told to just wait. We were also advised to disregard the statement of account we continuously received after full payment. This is machine generated and will eventually stop, they said.

To date, no certification has been received. Payment was made in 2007! Instead, we received a letter from another law firm demanding immediate payment of the account after we, as they claim, continuously disregard their reminders and offers of assistance. Alarmed, we called law firm a and were told that they will communicate with the law firm b to clear the matter. We were also advised to just say the account has already been settled should anyone else call.

Today we receive yet again another letter from law firm b demanding payment for the same account. They even enclosed an advisory stating the new rule promulgated by the supreme court “that aims to speed up disposition of civil cases”. I have emailed them advising of payment. Hopefully after faxing them the agreement form and payment slip, they would stop harassing us.

Again, don’t get any citibank credit card!

Citibank fraud processing

In August, I noticed a $361.00 charge on my account that I did not make. I had been at the Merchant during the time the transaction was made, but I didn't make it. I immediately called CitiCard to report the activity as fraud and have them reissue my card. They started and investigation and received a package of information from the merchant. The package included copies of 2 sales receipts. I am not disputing one of the charges which clearly have my signature on the receipt. However, the second does not. The name signed isn't even my name. CitiCard sent me a letter stating they needed more detail to why I'm disputing the charge ... more than the fact that I've already told them that I didn't make it and it has a different name on the credit card slip. The letter they sent stated they needed a reply by 11/20. I wasn't able to reply until 11/21. They're now telling me that since I didn't respond by 11/20 they have closed the case and I'm liable for the charge. I can't believe what the fraud representative told me ... btw she also said that signatures on sales slips aren't required or used. I'm still going to fight this since per reading the FTCs website which states ...

Reporting Losses and Fraud
By law, once you report the loss or theft, you have no further responsibility for unauthorized charges. In any event, your maximum liability under federal law is $50 per card.

Okay, Citicard just cut me a deal on my credit card payements. I recieved a certified letter sent to my house. And if I pay within 90 days then I am in the clear. I am trying to figure out if this is a scam.

You are correct, "By law, once you report the loss or theft, you have no further responsibility for unauthorized charges. In any event, your maximum liability under federal law is $50 per card." However, you didn't report loss or theft... you reported a dispute. That is a different thing entirely.

Your correct course of action would have to been to report the credit card number stolen then filled out a declaration of unauthorized use (affidavit).

On the billing dispute, if you would have called back they should have advised you write in requesting the dispute to reopened (calling does not preserve your dispute rights), however they may not have given you a conditional credit, but the amount would have been exempt from finance charges.

Citibank worst bank

NOTE: The following comments are my opinion, based on my personal experience in dealing with National City Bank.

This bank and particular branch location, is THE most unethical and unprofessional bank I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with.

The following employees at this branch 18th St. and Powerline Rd. are ### of the earth, miserable, rude, disgusting individuals, with a rotten attitude. Very phony and totally lacking in customer service skills.

The employees are:

Rebecca Airgood (office manager) - very rude and insulting

Stacy Henson (customer service receptionist) - very rude

Debbie Orr (Boca Raton district manager) - very phony

All treated me in a rude and disrespectful manner when I inquired about and attempted to negotiate, a CD rate for a very substantial deposit.

I am also going to include the name of another individual with whom I spoke about the same matter. Shirley Clark. She is the branch manager of the downtown Delray Beach branch. A real witch with a nasty disposition. Fits right in with the above trash.

And in customer service, we have the illustrious Gary Kloosterman and Chad Newman. Two phony imbeciles.

But don't just take my word for it. Google National City Bank Complaints and see for yourself.

A person would have to be a complete idiot to do any business whatsoever with this bank, who is in the process of being bought out as this is being written.

National City Bank...GOODBYE and GOOD RIDDANCE!

National City Bank is the wosrt. They are completely unethical, extremely unhelpful, and downright liars. On many occasions I have had todeal with extremely rude employees. The lastest occurance dealt with a mysterious overdraft fee for which i was charged for 47 days(8 dollars/ day). No letter to inform me of the overdraft? When i finally came across the error myself and asked about it, I dealt with two of the rudest people. When I asked why I had not recieved any letter or notification of my negative balance, the response was, " I'm not responsible for the mistakes of the United States Post Office." And maybe I should take my complaint up with them. VERY HELPFUL ADVICE. I despise National City, along with about everyone I know. So if anyone was asking my opinion on which bank to choose, I would definitly answer NOT National City!

I agree, My husband and I had an account with them for over a year and they did post the most expensive and less expensive last and did add OD fees and it was like they didn't even recognize or see the Deposits we made, even when they were cash. We fought with them and I was able to have a few charges taken off, and then we decided to close the account. I wouldn't recommend anyone going to that bank.

National City Bank is the most unethical bank I have ever had. They have dishonest practices that lead to making money off their customer base. Examples that I have experienced is that they deducted from my balance immediately for any pending charges before they have sent the money. They also hold deposited money until the next day in order to give unecessary overdraft fees. National City programs the processing system to take the smallest charges last in order to give the highest number of overdraft fees as possible. I was not even negative in my bank and had 2 deposits entered into my account leaving me with a positive balance. However, they switched around the dates in order to give me 5 huge! overdraft fees. That evening when they processed everything National City took out the large charges first, then all the small ones, and then processed my deposit (but before doing that they took out 5 overdraft charges for my 5 smallest transactions that took me into a negative balance). I wasn’t even negative in my bank and I check my account constantly to try to avoid any issues. I am left with little money to pay the necessary bills I need to get by and am seriously thinking about not using any banks at all anymore. I really think I would be better off writing money orders and keeping the money I work so hard for in my pockets instead of being tricked by the banking system. There has to be something that consumers can do to get this process changed because it is so unethical and I know I am not the only person who goes through this on a regular basis. So far in my experience of banking (even though the others are terrible as well) National City Bank seems to be the worst. I highly recommend never getting an account with them.

Citibank citibank lost its way and it is overcharging its customers

I've been a Citibank client in the US since 1995, and overseas since the early 80's. I have always concentrated all my business on Citibank, including checking accounts, credit cards, investments, etc.

Even when Citibank closed all the financial centers here in upstate NY and transfered my account to M&T Bank, I went online and opened the current account I have.

In the last 12 months I haven't used my Checking Plus (overdraft protection) account. Due to the current financial difficulties we are all facing, I had to resort to it for a few days. For my surprise, Citibank now is charging me a $10 fee every day I post a transaction to it, on top of the usual high interest rates.

I just called Citibank's phone support, and I was informed that this is a new procedure that started this month, and the only way to avoid it would be to call in advance and have them transfer the money from the Checking Plus account to my checking account, instead of using the automated process.

This is pure nonsense. In times when all the banks and clients are looking for improved efficiencies and gains of productivity, Citibank finds a cheap way of taking more money, and increasing the burden on its clients.

What is the point of this? Why this was not widely advertised? Why I did not see any communication on the several times I logged into Citibank's web site in the last few weeks?

As a loyal customer, I feel cheated and disrespected by the bank.

I would like this complaint to be escalated within the bank, to someone who is sensitive to the client's needs and the current financial environment.

If I don't hear a reply that addresses properly those issues and concerns, I will take my business elsewhere.

This is a complaint on Citi that I'll be taking to the highest level and plan to sue if they don't return my funds to my account properly. I have been a customer since 2008. I have never been late and in great standing. Every month they have been deducting from my available balance. I do not use the card I'm just making payments. This month my finance charge was $47.18 and it was deducted from my available balance..Added to minimum payment as well as my current balance...Which it should only be added to my current balance not DEDUCTED from my AVAILABLE CREDIT..Let me break it down for you..Yesterday my available was $1077.00 Today (new statement) my balance available balance is $1029.82. Min payment $123.18..$47.18 plus $76.00 equals $123.18..The fiance should have been added to current balance ONLY..They are double dipping..If I'm not making any purchases and only paying off the card, how is it legal for them to deduct finance charges from what I have available...I have paid over $3200.00 to Citi and have $1029.00 available ..This has been going on for some time and I'm taking this to the CEO, BBB, My Congressman, and my attorney...MY AVAILABLE BALANCE SHOULD NOT BE DEDUCTED UNLESS I HAVE MADE A PURCHASE AND I HAVE NOT...I HAVE CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND EACH REP SAYS THIS IS CITI BANKS PRACTICE TO DEDUCT FINANCE CHARGES FROM THE AVAILABLE BALANCE AS WELL AS ADD IT TO THE CURRENT BALANCE AND MINIMUM PAYMENT...IF THIS IS NOT DOUBLE DIPPING (STEALING) I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS..

Call all of your elected officials and give them your feelings at http://www.usa.gov/Agencies/Federal/Legislative.shtml. Banks are borrowing money at record low prices and we are paying record high interest rates. All this will kill what is left of our economy and some of us have the only choices of getting government to do something or stop paying which could mean more bailouts and highter taxes becuase you didn't think it would effect you. Bank of America and Chase are the two that have done me and my business the worst.

I completely agree with the absolute absurdity of this new fee. At a time when they are getting huge loans and guarantees from the government to protect their business the have the audacity to levy and/or increase fees on a service that I am would be willing to bet is making them more money than ever before as more and more people are feeling economic pressure.

I have complained to their customer service representative but I fully expect that it fell on deaf ears and that no one at Citi is listening or cares. Why should they? They can act with near impunity. Even though I have been with them for almost 15 years and do not relish the thought of all things I will have to change to do make the move I am looking for a new bank. One that behaves honorably and thinks twice about and cares for their customers before doing something so stupid as adding insult to the economic injury that had a hand in creating.

The person who made the decision to start charging $10 on top of the nearly criminal interest rate they charge on checking plus accounts should be fired.

Citibank unauthorized charges

This is part of my ongoing mess with StoresOnline. When I discovered after the three day period one had to rescind with StoresOnline what a disreputable company they are no matter what complaintsboard says about them, I obtained a provisional credit from Citi.

They mailed me correspondence requesting more information. They mailed that letter on June 22, 2007 and it arrived on July 3, some 11 days in transit. Note, I live one state to the west, CA.

They gave me FIVE days to respond! I guess I should have used very expensive overnight delivery with FedEx or something. I thought it was postmark time stamp, but no, they wanted it in their hands in five days. The IRS takes postmarks, but not Citi.

They sent us another letter for us to give them more information regarding the dispute recently, but it was the wrong account number!

During my 90-day window to dispute the charge they told me:
- sent to wrong address (a lie)
- they gave me a working fax number, but it was the wrong one for disputes.

We are seriously thinking of taking them to small claims court.

Citibank internet scam

I was told that I was a beneficiary of a Mrs. Margret Edward and was asked to send in c/o Western Union 920.00 dollars to a Jamie Alexa and a Mr. Robinson to release a fund in CitiBank for 3 million dollars but when I sent the 920.00 dollars they informed me that I had to send an additional 2, 900.00 dollars to send the fund. I was not informed before about the additional money I had to send and find it difficult to send it. I would like to know if this is a scam and have lost the 920.00 dollars I sent to Jamie Alexa. Thank you, David O'Malley

Citibank fraud and cheating

I am a Widow, who has been diagnosed with Severe, Rheumatoid Arthirtis in each, and every joint in my body. This is added to the two herniated disc's in both my lower back, and in my neck. Also, I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Plantar Fasciitis, Neuropathy in both feet, Serious Irritated Bowel Syndrom, Sleep Apenia, Severe Depression, and Anxioty, Panic Attacks, and I have Short Term Memory, Difficultly Concentrating, partly caused by having over 100 Grand Mall Seizures from age 19 to 26 years of age. I am also awaiting tests to find out if I have a Learning Disability.

I live with Excruciating Pain day in, and day out. There is not much that can be done, other then some risky surgery's. I have already had surgery in both hands, do to Carpal Tunnel, a Total, Emergency Hysterectomy, and several other major surgery's. I do not want to have anymore surgery's, and I worry about how many times I have had to be Ex-ray's, MRI's, Catt Scans, that I glow in the dark.

All this makes it very hard to keep track of all my paper work. It's kind of like, 'Out of site, out of mind', with me. Plus, we have so much paper work, that ends up getting plied on the kitchen table, so if I can't see it, I will forget. I even forget what day it is, or the date, all the time. I walk from one room to another, and cannot remember what I was going to do. I understand that this happens to everybody once in a while, but it happens to me constantly.

Anyway, I have been here in Dayton, since March 2003, and I hired a lawyer to assist me in getting S.S.I. and, now I filed by myself for S.S. Disabled Widows Benefits, which I'm still waiting for. In fact, I am awaiting a Hearing before a Judge, but it's taking forever. They told me that I need a Bank Account so that when it is approved, it will have a bank to be sent to. I have been receiving Disabled assistance from Job, and Family Services. It's a whole $115.00 once a month. Several times, when I got an Overdraft on my account, I had to pay large sums of money to put a stop to the Daily Bank Fees, to stop them from charging my $8.00 a day. And, again now, they have charged me with $500.00 in Late Fees. I don't understand why they keep approving any purchases that exceed my account balance? I went to talk to them Thursday, and they wouldn't even let me close my account. So, again I asked them what I can do to stop it from adding up more. And, I was told that I owe them a whopping $500.00! Now that may not sound much to some people, but for me it might as well be $510.00! I asked her what I can do to stop these daily charges? Not only the $8.00 a day, but they actually charged me 20 times, with amount's like, $75.00 to $510, in just 20 days. I Pled with her for something I can do to stop any more Fees? She told me she would cut my card, and then told me to call Loss Prevention to get my account closed, and that I can work it out with them, because they would not accept the small payments I wanted to pay, like only $15.00 or $20.00.

I did call, just yesterday, and they told me that the ONLY thing that can be done, is to, 'Report me to a Collection Agency, who will send me something in the mail, and then I can try to work it out with them? Not only do I worry about not having the money, but it is going to hurt my credit score as well. I don't know what my score is, because every web site I use wants to charge me something. It's not Free, like they claim to be, but I know its pretty good, because when I was looking into an onling business to make some cash, the man told me, 'Your credit is not as bad as you thought it was.'

I am just so upset about how they keep doing this to me, when they are quite aware of my circumstances, and that I only get $115.00 a month? Why do they keep approving any purchases, if they know it's under already? Plus, they are quite aware that I am unable to pay that kind of money? A few times, when this happened before, when I reminded them that I am waiting to receive S.S.D.W.B, and will have a large retroactive payment, and I need a bank to put it in, they worked something out with me, so way can't they do it now? Oh yea, and she told me she was, 'Putting something on my record, so that I won't be able to open a bank account, ANYWHERE! Is this normal? How can it be right? Even one of the tellers whispered to me, 'I know. It's a shame, because they do it to the people that don't have the money to pay it!

I obtained a motorcycle loan through National City on June 5th of 2008. I handed them the title and I was told they would be taking care of registering the bike. After a month I called to find out where my title is and they said it was on the way. This went on for months. Finally in December of 08 they had admitted the lost my title right away in the beginning and they had no clue where it was. At this moment I decided I was going to take all my money out of the bank and pay the loan off. After numerous phone calls and numerous lies I was finally helped by a manager named Ed. He contacted the previous owner of the bike who took his own precious time to go to the DMV to make a duplicate. Fortunate for me, he was trustworthy enough to not report the bike lost or stolen considering I did not own the bike and National City was not the lien holder. Simply put, I was paying for and housing a vehicle I did not own and that could have very easily been reported stolen. I paid the amount due every month to National City for a vehicle I did not own and was not able to operate due to their negligence. After I contacted the previous owner we set up a time to meet so I can get the title and try it again. After receiving the title, I was told that I would have to pay the money due in order to get it registered. If this were the case I do not understand why the ever kept the title in the first place if it was my responsibility to get it registered. After this happened, I took all my money out, transferred the loan to another bank and have attempted to close my accounts. I went into the branch on Moreland Blvd on 01/08/09 to close my accounts and I was told it will be officially closed during the next cycle. It is now two months later and my account is still not closed. It took me nearly 9 months to receive my title but in no way should it take more than a few days to have my accounts officially closed. I have gone into the branch on more than one occasion and I have been told everytime to just give it a few more days. A few more days has gone and passed numerous times and I am fed up with getting the run around and need this to be taken care of. I should not be able to access my account online anymore. There is no reason why this should not have been able to be resolved in person but I am starting to understand this is how business is done at this bank.

(Scenario: National City Bank bought out my bank 2 weeks earlier) On a friday, I deposited my weekly $400.00 paycheck On Saturday, I wrote a check to cover $11.00 for dinner for my son and I. On Sunday I wrote a check to $10.00 to the same place for the same reason. On Monday I deposited A paycheck for $400.00 from my second job. On Tuesday I deposited a $200.00 child support check . On Thursday my account was negative On friday, I told them I was not depositing any more funds until they straighten this out... The following Monday I asked them to close my account. $21.00 worth of dinners cost me $1000 and now, 4 years later I am getting harassing phone calls saying I owe $600.00+ from PNC (the bank that bought National City)

National City lost the title to my car as well. I puchased the car in 2003 and have paid it off and they have no idea where the title is. They more or less said it is my problem. They gave me a number to call to get a replacement. However they did not offer to pay for the replacement. Like I said they don't have a problem, they got their money so no problem for them. To bad for me. I will never get a loan through National City Bank again.

I've had a home equity credit line with this bank for 5 years. I just locked in a fixed rate on the variable-rate portion of the loan and was quoted a rate of 5.27%. When I got my next statement, however, I saw they had locked me in at 5.95%. The same exact thing happened 5 years ago when I was quoted 5.19% and locked in at 5.68%. I have spent hours going through their endless phone menu system, being put on hold, and sitting at the local branch office waiting to talk to a manager trying to get this problem resolved. Whenever I do finally talk to someone, they tell me they will get to work on it and get right back to me. They never do.

I made my monthly credit line payment to national city bank by speaking to their account rep. on the telephone. she took my checking acct info and confirmed the payment. later i found out that the payment was not applied to my acct. because she screwed up the check #, so as a result thy decided to report me late to the credit bureau. when i called to discuss the matter i found that thy were completely unresponsive, rude, disrespectful and totally unwilling to correct their mistake. i left four messages to speak with there accounts manager and wrote a letter to the collection department asking for assists in resolving the matter and received not one return call. it is my opinion that this company has no respect for its customers, no concern with reporting the truth to the credit bureau and absolutely no moral integrity to speak of and i hope this letter will help others to avoid doing business with national city bank.

National City Bank is offering 2.0 intrest on a money market acct. I went there to open a checking and savings acct. with them and asked if I could get the 2.0 and free checking.I was told yes. I had 52, 000 to deposit in the money market and thought I was getting free checking. When I finally got all my checks and stuff in the mail I re alised they had switched me to an intrest checking acct. which would have a monthly fee. In the fine print it said free checking wasn't elligable with 2.0 market acct. I went to get my money out and was told I would be assessed $30 per acct for closing before 6 months. I told them they have no right to take my money through a outright lie and then deposit in another acct. that I didn't choose. And then tell me if I want my money I have to pay their $60 extortion fee. I filed a complaint with the Atty. Generals office in Columbus Ohio.

On August 5th, 2017 at around 1230 pm my wife pulled in the drive -thru to cash my Disability check, which she has been doing the last six to eight months without me being there, I always sign the check or endorse it and there has never been a problem ever! anyhow my wife gave the check to the lady and she says to my wife with an attitude that she can't accept the check, so naturaly my wife asks her why not and she without making eye contact with my wife says again i can't accept this, now mind you this lady had an attitude from the start and never ounce made eye contact with my wife. my wife was very professional toward her as well, and the lady was extremely rude and acted as though my wife was beneath her. my wife and I have accounts at other banks and cash my checks without any trouble, we would of had no problem if the lady had just explained the issue or said that this is a new rule or something! in all the years I was in business for myself I have never treated people like this lady treated my wife, or I would of went out of business.when my wife called me an told me all this, I just shook my head in disbelief, so I decided to act out on this I tried to call the eight hundred number and all I got was a recording to press this and to press that and still could not get through, so anyway I would sure appreciate it if you would at least let this banks manager know about these kind of things, because of this we are closing our account with them, and the sad part is we have a lot of money in our account over there, this is a real shame, I hope the next person does'nt go postal over something this silly because this should be a pleasant experience.anyway thanks for giving people like us a place to vent and hope to hear from you soon thankyou.

Over Memorial Day weekend my mother was admitted to the hospital on an emergency and it was discovered she had Stage 4 Lung Cancer and was going to die. I rushed to Detroit to be by her side. The day after Memorial Day I was checking our National City account and found we were negative due to un-posted authorizations coming though. It was 4pm and I needed to be on the road to return to Grand Rapids I was unable to hunt down a National City branch in an area I was unfamiliar at rush hour to clear up the matter. Upon arriving back in Grand Rapids I deposited cash funds into a National City ATM to bring the balance positive and my husband sent an email to Patrick LeBlanc at the Eastbrook Office requesting he speak with the Branch Manager regarding waiving any fees that may post due to the extreme family emergency.

I was forced to return to Detroit on Thursday to be with my mother who took a dramatic turn for the worse so my husband continued to try and work on the issue. We did not get credits or returned emails from Patrick. My husband left a voice mail for Patrick asking for an update which was not returned. Besides our DDA and Savings Account my husband recently moved his 401K from a former employer to National City Investments. At retirement this fund will be worth over $200, 000.00. Sadly my mother passed away on Saturday May 31, 2017 and we were left with 5 overdraft fees still sitting on our account at a time we could not afford these. While in route to Detroit on Monday June 2 my husband discussed with Patrick how the branch manager Annemarie was not only threatening the loss of our DDA and Savings Account but also the investment account over a few overdraft fees. Patrick took the attitude that if you move it you move it he did have Annemarie finally call my husband on Tuesday, June 3 her call came during the visitation for my mother.

To our disgust, this branch manager showed no compassion or understanding for our loss or the circumstances surrounding the loss of my mother. She flat out refused to credit the fees saying there was no bank error. We feel a bank error had occurred because not all your pending debit card authorizations show in pending, they surprise you the day they post causing negative balances. This is a bank error because those same merchants that do not appear at National City appear on our Fifth-Third account as pending. This practice is a clear attempt by National City to generate negative balances and increase fee revenue which Annemarie was more concerned about getting then showing humanity and compassion to a customer.

A financial institution who places such an individual leadership who is more concerned about fees then compassion is not an organization we will use. We have closed our DDA and savings accounts and am in the process of moving the IRA out. We will be informing others of the actions of National City.

I had a Checking account with this bank late last year. I had $129.00 in there when I had left for vacation. Well I had written a check for some service done to my truck and was promised by the bank that it would not be withdrawn from the account until monday. Well while on my way back from vacation on sunday. I called the automated info line and found that my account was $230.00 in the negative. Well when I went thru the transactions I had found that They stayed shipping back checks and withdrawals that had been cleared for over a month to make up for a $23.00 overdrawn mistake. Come monday I spoke with the branch manager and was told it would be taken care of. Well I paid her the 23 dollars that I owed to the bank and went on my merry way. 2 months later I get a letter stating that My account was closed due to being overdrawn by $1048.00. Which I closed my account on the day I paid the 23 dollars. I tried calling the corporate offices and all they tell me is to go thru the main branch offices. They will not help me. It is a new branch manager now. and I have a very bad report on my credit from a Allied Interstate which I guess is a collection agency for national city. I have sent them numerous letter also and have no answer. So What am I supposed to do now? Plz advise smb!

This is the WORST bank I have dealt with in 40 years. Unbelievable harrassment on one payment that isnt even 30 days late yet. Over 30 harrassing calls so far, all day and night, weekends, they wont quit. Each time I tell them to stop calling, they dont. each time I tell them that I am working with their loss mitigation dept and to quit wasting my time with harrassment calls. They continue.

I hate this bank with a passion. I would NEVER do business with them again and suggest that NO one else ever do business with them either.

No one in this bank knows what the other is doing, and doesnt relay any information to the next harrasssment specialist.

Beware of National City Bank! This bank will drain your account dry in overdraft charges! They have the absolute worse customer service people that I've ever had to deal with. They don't have a clue what they're talking about. Everytime I turned around, I had overdraft charges to my account. Even when the funds were in my account, they always had some excuse for the NSF's. And beware! They purposely post your transactions so that an overdraft will occur. I gave up trying to keep up with my account.

I went to the bank to close my account after being fed up with losing so much money to NCB. At that time, the teller disposed of my debit card because it was no longer valid & I was no longer able to access my account online. I had a zero balance when I left the bank. A small check that had never been cashed, showed up & was run through my 'closed' account. Instead of National City returning the check 'Account Closed, ' I was charged $34 & an additional charge of $8 per day that this charge was not paid. I was not even made aware of this until just recently because I found out that National City has been sending any notices to an old P.O. Box # that is no longer even valid. I changed my address with the bank, but the people that work there, are not the sharpest tools in the shed! Needless to say, I never received notices until today. Now I owe National City Bank nearly $600!

I strongly advise anyone not to do business with this bank. They have no morals & will steal you blind! That's how they make their money!

The bank offered a promotional incentive for the opening of new accounts. The offer initially began as a promise to provide a $250 Visa gift card for the opening of a new account and the meeting of certain criteria (direct deposit, etc.). After I opened my account, I brought my teenagers to open accounts for them. By then the offer had been lowered to $150, which was fine.

The problem is that the bank never provided any of the cards. Only after I made persistent calls to the bank did they noffer to deposit $200 into my account, which I declined. They deposited the money anyway. The deal was $250! To date, they have not given my kids anything.

I opened a bank account for my kids about year and 1/2 ago and the person at NC told me that I had to open a checking for my kids since I didn't have $200 minimum to deposit. He fails to mention if there is no activity on the account after 6 months the account will be closed. So I found out the the money I deposited for my kids is gone. When I call to complain they tell me that I could have opened a savings for my kids with any amount. So because I wasn't given the savings account that I wanted I lost their money. So when I call to complain they say they will call me back...uh yeah never did call back. Nice... I could go back to the National City on Woodman and punch that guy (the one who set up the account more than the one who didn't call me back EVER)! Like it's not hard enough being a single mom and trying to do the right thing. THANKS NATIONAL CITY! I still bank with you for now, but I don't give good referrals anymore like I use to and won't.

Citibank NRI home loans is run by a bunch of [censor]s, who are not from the banking world. The customer representative is a joke.Unprofessional, unaware irresponsible people. No wonder CITIBANK is under loss. The customer rep I spoke to had no idea as to how the loan works and here is the best part the Country Manager in India is a novice too, looks like CITI recruited a "smart" 23 year old MBA to head the company, man he is CLUELESS. I wihs they stop providing their "SERVICES" bah ! service is a joke. Hope they fire all the Managers who handle this loan in the US and India tooo.. Word of advice do not deal with them!

CITI NRI is like a Mouse Trap.
You can only send money to India.
There is no way you can get it back.
Even though Reserve Bank of India made simple rules for repatriation, people working in CITI will intrepret those rules in a most complicated way and make sure that you will not get any thing back.
They are spoiling the image of the bank and causing enough heart burns to the customers.

Citibank dishonest business practises

Citi NRI is the worst website ever built. For one the login is kinda goofy. You have a complex 16 digit login ID that you can mask with a user id. However your user id is mapped to your login id on each computer (Basically I can have as many user ids as I have computers.) You delete cookies and you are back to the drawing board. The password you gotta type in using your mouse using some goofy onscreen keyboard. Then you go to a cluttered screen with over 200 links. God help you if you want to find anything there. If you want support you have to send an email from the support link, however if you send an email from your mailbox you will never get a response. After a week or so somebody responds without reading your question. Keep in mind the response never appears in your mailbox (Your mailbox always shows empty). Once you go to the support link and see the inadequate message, you are required to respond to that message (They call is a query. I guess they think their employees are like databases you execute queries against). However make sure you don’t click on any link before you respond; because once a message is read, it is automatically removed from the support link taking away any ability to respond

ACH transfers take from 3 weeks to 6 months (They take money out of your source bank account on the same or next day but take from weeks to sometimes 6 months to credit any information into your account).

The other scheme they have going on is they turn your account into an inactive / dormant status for inactivity (meaning moving money in or out of the account) thereby locking you out of your account and trapping any cash you have in your account. If you want your account to be operational, they ask you to physically go to a branch in California or to one of their offshore offices in India. If you don’t you will not have access to your cash. By law they are required to notify you prior preventing you from giving you access to your account. They get around this by changing your account to an inactive status first which prevents you from transacting on your account (even though you can log in normally and look at your balance and stuff giving you an illusion of normalcy). After a further status of inactivity they change it to “Dormant” totally preventing you from having any access to your account.

Going to their exchange rate, they consistently give you 1-2Rs (2-4%) lower than market conversion rates. They make most or all of their profits from skimming off the top when compared to SBI and ICICI rates.

Finally in terms of support it is impossible to find a telephone number to their support desk. If you ever need to call CITI NRI Helpdesk their number is [protected]

Overall CITI is a very unethical bank. The most unethical I’ve seen so far especially in their international dealings (US Regulators and guarantees have forced them to maintain a certain level of honesty and transparency in the US). Their website is the least user friendly of all websites and CITI NRI is the worst by far of any banking site. It’s a mess

Citi NRI is not a trustable source to send or keep the money. I have had bad experienced several times. They closed my accounts all the time for not updating the KYC document and send the money in Rupees to the different addresses. Although they ask for KYC but they don't update it on time; on top they close the accounts and send the money not even knowing that the real customer would receive the amount or not.

There is a word called 'DORMANT', Citi group may not know. I used customer support to reach out. After several attempts they attended the phone call but doing nothing. They don't have the proper training to support the customer and there is no alternative approach too. Customer representatives just go by the selective approaches and when they applied all of the by book processes they told customer to come and get the money from Indian branch which is so ridiculous and frustrating to the customer to handle the queries and there is no productive solution. #citinri, #Citigroup, #Citi — with Mrinmoy Bhakta.

I am a CITIBank NRI client for 10+ years. I have been trying for several months to get them to activate my account. They extremely unqualified and mostly illiterate support people who have no clue about what works and how in their own banking system. Constantly provided i=me wrong information, asked me to send in wrong information and wrong documents for my account that is dormant and they have transferred my finds to RBI. Tried contacting them to the senior most level but absolutely no response that is correct at all. This bank is joke and fraud. How does one reach out to RBI to address this problem? Sick of them treating their customers like dirt.

I had very similar issues, in the 20 odd years i had a CITINRI account about 10 of those years i was locked out online for multiple reasons. Their logon screen kept changing with 100s of ads. I finally had enough and this year closed it for forever.
No I have so much extra time on my hands from not having to call and argue with their customer service reps. what a relief...

Highly stupid, Nonsense bank. I changed my US address for NRO/NRE account and they are asking to provide address proof as below. How these documents are applicable to NRI account ?. I gave US driving license and they rejected that it is not valid. They are asking Aadhaar card for US address change. Support center guys are big time clowns.

For proof of address, you can provide any 1 (One) of the following documents that reflect your new address:

- Valid Passport
- Voter's Identity Card issued by the Election Commission of India
- Valid Driving license
- Aadhaar Card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India
- Job card issued by NREGA duly signed by an officer of the State Government

Citi NRI has been my worst experience. They closed my account and reason for closing the account is that branch has been closed. I have sent a written request two months ago, but nothing has happened. Every time I call customer service, I get a new clown and I have to provide same information again and again. They assure me that my draft will be send soon, but it has not happened. I will ask anybody who has account at Citi to close their account as this bank is a complete fraud. Their word does not mean anything.

I agree with all the comments posted here. I'm frustrated with their service and planning to close my NRE/NRO accounts after being a customer for almost 12 years. Their Suvidha account services are good, but the NRI customer service is the worst I have ever seen in my life. None of the representative are knowledgeable of what they speak. They sound very confident, but always provide you wrong information. They are wrong 8 out of 10 times, so be careful with their representatives. I don't understand why they recruit such representatives and why they don't look into the recorded conversations when a customer raises complaints about them. Their process is the most useless and designed to delay things indefinitely. They probably want to hold your money as long as possible to reap maximum benefits for the bank. I can quote multiple examples for proving my claims. They stopped the fax service, so that you only have to mail them the documents which will take days. They ask you to send wrong documents so that it will delay things further. It happened to me twice. They give you wrong info if it can benefit the bank in any way.
I lost 6 months of interest on my fixed deposits of 6 lakhs due to wrong information provided by customer care. I raised a complaint with them on the same, but they are asking me for the representative details. They have every call recorded, so what they are asking is ridiculous and it shows that they just want to escape from their mistakes. I have 2 other instances like this where I lost my time and money due to their dishonest customer care service. I don't know where I can complain about this bank. If someone knows a way to make them pay for their mistakes, please let me know by posting the details here.

Pathetic website...trying to add US local accounts, the website does not provide the correct instructions to add account. After adding account I cannot remit funds. If I go ahead and de-register the account, the customer care representative deleted my login id. The relationship manager is never available.

Citibank unauthorized charge

$179.95 was charged to my Citibank credit card as a purchase of Essentials Gold. I have no knowledge of this purchase. When I called the Essentials Gold phone number listed on my Citibank bill, the voice recording indicated Essentials Gold was a membership program. I had never heard of it nor had I ever signed up for it.

I called Citibank and insisted the charge be removed from my account. I told them that a search of the Internet indicated that this was a scam in which Citibank knowingly participated.
The operator (in India) agreed to remove the charge.

I am going to very carefully read each charge to my credit cards.

We're also scammed by a charge of 19.99 per month on our cc bill. We called essential gold and they couldn't explain this, said we weren't on their list and didn't know why we were being charged. Canceling account now.

Citibank beware of these movers

Earlier this year, I was approved for a student loan with the Citibank, and 2 disbursements were scheduled. However, I used only the first one, as I became ineligible for the second one. I subsequently paid off the first one in full, and the school I'd attended, cancelled the second one. Citibank, however, took a strange position of denying that the cancellation of the second disbursement has ever taken place, and holding me liable for paying it. The school provided me with the statement from HESC that shows the cancellation. My numerous phone calls to the customer service, letters, inquiries, even a complaint to BBB have gotten me precisely nowhere. Citibank still claims that I carry a balance on my student loan. I contacted a school official who placed a call to Citibank, and the Citibank employee claims to be unaware of the status of my loan (even though this name was on the letter from the Citibank).

This can negatively affect my credit history, let alone my eligibility for the prospective future student loans. I don't know what else I can do, except posting on this site.

Everybody, beware of Citibank practices.

Citibank I did not apply for this credit card

I received a mail with a credit card today from Citi. It stated that I had previously been sent a mail letting me know that my Home Depot consumer credit card is now a Citi MasterCard. First, I never received an mail, phone, etc communication from HomeDepot or Citigroup about converting my Home Depot card to a Citi MasterCard. Second, I did not have a consumer credit card with Home Depot, I had an instore consumer card/line of credit. Third, my limit was around $800.00. I called [protected] and spoke with a young lady who said that she could not help me. I asked to speak to her supervisor. Keith answered. I explained the above to him. He proceeded to sell the benefits of having the card. What? I told him that I never received prior communication. He said they sent it to the same address as this mail. I said "What if it was lost at the post office?" Am I still responsible? Is this as if I said Yes, I want a Citi Mastercard?" He said Yes. I then asked him why was my credit line/limit $3000.00 when my HomeDepot consumer card was only $800.00. He then tried to tell me that their plan/card was more flexible than HomeDepot and if I wanted he could lower it. He said that there was nothing he could do and did not offer any other options. This is unfair. With the state of the economy, credit ratings are very important. I have worked diligently to keep a good rating now to have a $3000.00 hit against my credit liability on my credit report. I want this removed off of my credit report. I am sure that other Home Depot consumers have no idea the ramifications of what this letter stated. I called the automated system to cancel my card. It stated that it will be closed in 5 to 7 business days.

Citibank credit card application

I wish to complain citibank telesales unit (mtts) / cpp acquisition sales global consumer group for not hesitating to waste my time and effort to be a customer of their! couple of months back, I had submitted applications for citibank credit card and had been rejected for no reason. my application to uob had went through. then, in september, a telesales executive by the name of evin called me to tell me the following: "mr seet, I am aware that you had applied for our credit card recently and had been rejected. we had reconsidered your application and would like to offer you our credit card. would you like to take up our offer?" I replied yes. after which, I informed them that I had since moved on to another company with a 30% pay rise and still under probation. they inform me that it is ok as long as I provide the documents to them and sign and fax by the application to them. due to my busy work schedule and the hassle of gathering the required documents. it was really tough to finally pull everything through to them. and eventually 2 week later, all I got was a "sorry to inform you we unable to grant you an approval for the application".? what? I cannot understand this? this was a complete waste of time! how can they offer me something and then not giving it to me? it not like I insist I want it right?!

Please citibank, if you read this, do me a favour. blacklist me, ban me, don"t ever contact me thru agencies or thru your own principle to tell me you have a credit card promotion! the last thing I want from you is your credit card period.

If you want to improve your credit don't activate a citi card. These people report to a credit bureau while you are using your card. they claim they will not tell you when they report to credit bureaus, if you use your card more than 30 percent of your limits they report to credit bureau immediately that will have impact on your credit . Please don't use there credit card.

Agree. I was forced to pay off a credit fraud that happened to my card. I reported it lost and it was being used. Now they charged me the full fee plus interest and late fee and got me black list with credit bureau because i refuse to pay as it is still under investigation! Worse bank ever! Bad bank officers who are just heartless and unreasonable to explain to. Terrible Citibank Singapore

I am kay from singapore. I am really fed up with citi bank. On April 2010, one of the guy from ACE insurance called me to take their insurance plan. They said they are coroperate groups of citi bank and at once I say " yes" to do the insurance plan, they will going to proceed everything without I am doing it. At that time, I couldn't understand what he is talking and I am very busy at my office. So, I told him to send policy for me to read when I am free at home because too busy to listen all the conversations of him. So, he agreed to sent the policy for me to read and asked me to contact him back if I am interested. I received this policy plan and I am not willing to do it. So, I didin't contact him at all and he also didn't contact me as well. But after 3 months later ( end of june), I was shocked that ACE insurance cut insurance fees for 3 months together in my citi bank credit card statement and I enquired for that statement to citi groups. The citi bank officer told me that they could not answer why and gave me ACE insurance company's contact number to contact. I called ACE and the staff named called Niko said she will forward my problem to her upper senior and will get back to me in very soon. So far, I didn't receive any call/ contact from them 2 weeks. I called them back after 2 weeks and the staff Niko said again the same thing that they will contact me. But, nobody contact me at all till afew days. At last, I contact them again and the staff named called Riza told me the same things that they need to do some inverstigation and will contact me later. " What is this [censor]" ? This is my money and they cheated my money without my acknowledge. What is hell of investigation want to do this? I even don't have any approval documents from them for insurance. I never give them my credit card information and the citi bank gave them my credit card information anyhow to them without my permission. When I contact the citi bank officer, she said that I cannot get back my money because this is telemarketing and they already cut my money. What is hell is that ! [censor] off citi bank. Hello citi bank, do you know that you all are trying to fraud me? cheating me? How come you anyhow give my personal information to the others who i didn't know? Do you know that you all did mistakes and don't want to admit the mistakes? 1 ) misue my credit card without my signature /permission 2 ) i even don't have approval documents from ACE insurance with my signature 3) Nobody called me and informed that they will going to approve the insurance with me 4) Nobody sent letter / informed me that they received insurance / cut insurance money for insurance plan. They are doing all these fraud without my acknowledge and even don't bother to inform me. What the F*** is that you r using my money to [censor] your insurance plan? You all got commision ..isn't it? hummmm now cheated my money. Wait and See what I will going to do? okayyyy I will not stop here.. I will not give up. Nobody can get my money for free. There is no free in singapore. Okay...

i been apply for credit cards for the past few years but it's always reject by the banks. i admit my past payment history is not good but i did pay off every single cents i owe them. 5 years later i print out my credit bureau i realise in the report it show i still owe dbs a default payment, icall them and verify this case, to my horror they told me it's their mistake that they had overlook and did'nt erase my payment in theirs record. i'm so piss off and i scold them upside down. i intend to buy car and renovate my house by applying loan few years back, but dbs had cause me alots of inconvenience and i demand a compensation from them. i'll never want to have any relationship with this bank anymore, shame on this local bank.

Yes, I had exactly the same experience. Twice I applied for their credit card as I needed to swith to another because Standard Chartered stopped linking their points to Asiamiles. The first application they lost my data that I sent them (was at the City Hall office), but after a few weeks they said they found it back, but then due to the less than 6 motnhs validity of my entrepass, they could not accept me...well that was then.

During my second application after I got the new entrepass, I faxed them all my documents, and even got called by one of their sales persons. But after weeks I had not heard back from them. After calling their customers service, they could not find the person I was mentioning, nor could they find my documents again...well that did it! I checked out and found that UOB also had Asiamiles, and I had an account with them, within a week I had my credit card from UOB!

POSB and DBS creidt card is also the same. I really ban them forever. I got UOB but not DBS. I hate them. The next day after they reject my application with no much reason. I quickly withdraw all my money and transfer to the other bank.

Actually, you are lucky that they didn't approve your application. I used the CITYBANK credit card for many, many years. I used it to pay for almost all my bills and I always clear my bills on time. Last month, I forgot to pay my bill and was late for only one day. They charged me interests and when I called them to waive it, they rejected me. So I told them that I wanted to terminate my credit card, thinking that they would withdraw their decision. To my surprise, they replied me: "Go ahead." What kind of service is it? I also have UOB credit card, they can waive the interests for late payment. Furthermore, UOB also waive my subscription fee, unlike CITYBANK. Base on my bad experience with them, I advise those who have no CITYBANK credit card, don't apply for it. For those who have the CITYBANK credit card, terminate immediately.

Citibank fraud

In the past i have made mistakes and had to pay over draft charges. In the past i knew i made a mistake and i never had a problem paying the over draft charges. Today though I look at my account and at the end of the day on 10/14/08 I had a positive balance in my account. Today now all of a sudden i got 8 over draft fees on my account posted on the 14th. How is this possible Im asking myself? I reviewed my account and can not come up with anything wrong. After going to my branch and talking to the branch manager I was even more disgusted with this company. He had no awnsers for me except this in not a banking error those fees came from something that is pending today. Well today is the 15th not the 14th and I STILL had enough money in the account to cover todays, except for the overdraft fees that just decided to pop up out of no where on the 14th. Well after arguing with the manager and getting know where i demanded to speak with someone else. Guess what that person was even a bigger ### then the bank manager and still could not come up with an awnser for me. I have no clue what happened here and no one in this company is willing to exlplain it to me, all i keep hearing is that its not a banking error there is nothing we can do. Believe me people this is a banking error I have never seen this happen before on my account and I know exactally how much money i had in there. These people are a bunch of ###s and if anyone has any information for me to how i may be able to get this resolved or how to go about getting something done please let me know. As far as im concerned though this companay is the worst I have dealt with in my life.

We have a loan with National City. Last month I called NC and advised them we would be late on the payment. NC agreed to the late pay. Starting July 01, 2009 to this date we have received 144 documented calls from NC. We did talk with 3 reps and they stated, "we will call you everyday on the 1/2 hour or every minute until the account is paid. We are less than 15 days late. Evidently, calling and making payment arrangements was wrong.

They did this to me and I had no choice but to close my business account. I was a day late the following month in my National City Visa, and they closed my account. If that's not retaliatory enough, they quintupled my payment and jacked my interest rate up over 30%. They violated several laws under FCRA in collecting the debt. I filed a complaint with the FTC & AG's office. I'm getting a lawyer and you should, too. This bank has already been in trouble for wrongly insuring loans as FHA- they were fined. This is organization of opportunists and bullies looking to exploit their consumers for profit.

National City Bank of Cleveland is run by white collar criminals who steal from customers any way they can. I never had an account with them but my daughter jus now experienced the same thing folks on here are talking about.
I recommend to every one, put out the word to any one that listens, post where ever you can about it on the internet and yes write your Congress Person and U.S. Senator and dont stop. Lets put those thief's out of business and set an example that we will not get ripped off without consequences to those thief's.

Citibank ethics, rudeness overdraft fraud

I have had nothing but bad experiences with this bank. I don't even know where to begin. First off rudeness is there policy. The bank uses overdrafts like scam income, manipulate these charges in weird mysterious ways for profit and don't explain is a straight forward way why they are applied. The magic phrase, not a bank error legally waives away all customer satisfaction. There have been several other issues such as setting up a custodial account as overdraft protection and then removing it without any notification. When the overdraft protection failed I discovered this. When I asked what happened I was told it is illegal to use a custodial account for overdraft protection. They refused to cover the overdrafts when that was obviously their error. There response was this is not thier problem. There have been other things and I even reported issues to the Department of Treasury for investigation and they never even responded. It is so plain to see this bank and the government are thier own self interest groups. In my opinion National City boarders on criminal and after today will remove my accounts. Their service is exploitive. I would rather do business with the mafia.

i had just under 2 grand in my checking account on 9/30 deposited a pay check on 10/1 bringing to just under 2900. had house payment and another purchase come out same day totalingapprox 550. then on 10/5 overdraft made a deposit into my account when i had plenty of money in there. unknowing to this at the time i moved 1800 to my savings which i still had a little over 500 in my checking account. needless to say this kept going on till i had no money left in my overdraft and when i really needed it it was already used up and i ended up with 238 in overdraft fees

It was not showing the deposit of 40 nor the deposit if 83 that I had put in at all, no where, it should have been in with all of my other expenses. it was no where to be found. that’s what i meant, i did not expect to see it in my running balance. do you have any experience with national city? i have tried keeping my balance in the record book, they even gave me this great big one, i still got screwed in the end, and i left because i didn’t have time to deal with their bs i had to go to work that would be why i am going back in today and as of right now 5 am i have another over draft fee and there is nothing to show in the posted nor the pending for it to even over draw. If i was the only person going through this crap i don’t think over hundreds of people would be posting blogs like this on numerous web sites. How can it go from showing 1 item in pending to it being completely gone and what i had paid towards the overdraft just gone, into thin air? its there then its gone then it appears again a few hours later.

No one overdraws their acts on purpose. My moms act goes in the red all the time when she gets gas because a certain gas station holds double the amount until it is paid but she never gets charged for it, she also uses a different bank.

Samantha -

Are you kidding me? Really. Can you be any more dumb? The reason the amounts were changing on the internet banking was because they were updating your account. The reason why they do not show a $123.00 balance is because it went towards the overdraft - to bring it past zero a few odd cents.

Your account was in overdraft - you know why. Stop being so coy. Otherwise you would have not so easily paid the charges.

That goes for all of you. Stop overdrafting your accounts and you will not get charged fees.

I am irate with this bank. As of 2/14/09 I had a balance of 28.00 and a pending charge of 8.00 which had already been removed. I go in this morning to deposit a check and they inform me my act if over drawn $122 and some odd cents. I asked to speak with someone so they could let me know where I went wrong and i was told a firm "NO" we do not assist with overdrafts unless it is bank error. so i just paid it and left. I have been reading online all night about this bank and their scams. I just logged onto my act to see i had another pending fee of 4.56 and my bal was -39.89 This makes no sense to me. I log on again to try and figure things out myself and now my act says i have 0.71 and the 123.00 i deposited today was no longer in there, like i had never paid it. They gave me 2 overdraft fees in 1 day and it says i over drew my act 5 times that day and the next day i "overdrew" it 2 times and they only charged me 1 fee. non the less i ended up with 123.00 in overdraft fees. I am not only confused but extremely mad. i went to one of the local branches for my first deposit and they said since i had not had an overdraft fee this year they might wave it for me but i had to go to the branch where i opened the act. i rushed over there for the lady to be so rude to me it almost put me in tears. This same lady was been extremely ignorant to my sister telling her she does not deserve to own an act when she got her first and only overdraft fee in the 6 years she has been banking with them. I am going into the bank in the morning and closing my act. NOTHNG BUT SCAMMERS!

We deposited a check on Friday and had 4 overdraft fees on Tuesday for 34.00 each! I've sent 2 emails to customer service and my husband went into the local branch and was told that they wouldn't take the charges off!
This bank is AWFUL about overdraft charges!
My husband's check is direct deposited every week and still 2 days after the deposit went in they added overdraft charges.
We are definitely switching banks!

Citibank excessive charges and no answers

Back in March of this year, I had a $59 payment due to CitiCard. I paid it one day late. I was charged excessive fees and then owed $250+. I visited their web site and asked why and was told that after the payment was late you are charged an additional 1/48 of your balance. My balance was a little less than $2000, so I informed them of that. They told me that there were other extra charges. I tried to find out what they were and they told me they were in the user agreement. I said, "Where are the fees that pertain to these charges in the user agreement?" They couldn't and wouldn't answer. I haven't paid it since March and have turned the card over to a debt settlement agency, so CitiCard turned the debt over to a law office who is demanding I pay $3, 062. Crooks!

Bruce --
I know how it feels. But you can't just NOT pay CitiBank, or any other legitimate bill, without serious consequences. Especially now when we are in the worst financial crisis our country has been through in almost 80 years.

If I were in your shoes, I would try to find a debt relief agency that will help me make payments to Citibank, and other creditors so I don't have further credit problems. It's tough, but you can't cut your nose off to spite your face, when dealing with credit issues.

Be a man, take a deep breath, and take care of things!
