China Southern - No Service, No Customer Support
For a combined family vacation with a work related conference in New Zealand we chose to fly China Southern from Amsterdam to Christchurch, via Guangzhou. On our way home we travelled via London and on August 31st we boarded flight CZ303 - Guangzhou-London. We had reserved and paid for four seats, two bulkhead seats and the two seats behind so we could sit together, have extra legroom and make it easier to get in and out of seats. We had paid for the seat reservations (5600 yuan in total, 1400 yuan for the Guangzhou-London leg). Not cheap, but worth it. However, while boarding we were told our reserved seats were cancelled because of a change of airplane. We got seats scattered over the airplane, not together and no bulkhead or extra legroom seats (just regular economy class seats). No compensation for the sudden change and inconvenience was offered but we were assured that we would get our money back. That has still not happened. After six weeks we finally received a refund of 700 yuan for two seats but not the 700 yuan for the other two seats. In the past months I have sent customer support of China Southern over 10 e-mails and tried to contact them by phone. E-mails are not answered (no response at all!) and after being on hold for over 10 minutes on the international phone number I have given up hope that this will work. Effectively, China Southern has stolen 700 yuan from us, has highly inconvenienced our flight and conveniently ignores communication and refunding. Maybe worth considering this attitude when choosing an airline to fly to China.

Worst possible international airline!
Flight from lax via can to mnl was nothing but problems from the check in counter (lax) to landing (mnl). Seat selection/special diet meal request which were done months prior to flight(s) didn't exist upon check-in nor was the request honored at check-in.in flight service was non-existant. Please don't bother us attitude from flight attendants.
Return flight from mnl to can was cancelled by cs airline. But they booked another flight from mnl without any connecting flight to lax. After days on the phone with cs airline and vayama we still don't have any sense we'll get a connecting flight without staying over night in the terminal at can. Csa's us call center only answers calls monday thru friday, 9am to 5 pm pst and this is an international company, what do you do if you have a problem after 5pm or on the weekends. Do not use this airline or travel company!
