Chase Moving & Storage - I was really disappointed with our most recent move
I was really disappointed with our most recent move. I've used this Company twice and the first time was great (to move to VT) but our move back to CT was terrible. They hired third parties to help with the moving and the workers were very unprofessional, dropped furniture numerous times, and we paid over $12,000 for professional service.
Chase Moving & Storage - May 5: I got an estimate from Chase Moving for a move to Norwich, VT
May 5: Chase Moving gave me an estimate for relocating to Norwich, VT. The move was set for 8/17 - 8/19, costing $2890 after a virtual review of our townhouse and storage unit. On June 7, I confirmed the dates with Chase Moving. However, on 8/17, they didn't show up and rescheduled without notice. On 8/19, during the move, I was informed of a delay and agreed to an additional $700 charge. Later, I discovered double billing of $2890 and an extra $386.25 on a different card.

We asked Chace Moving and Storage for a quote
We asked Chace Moving and Storage for a quote. The quote was $3477.67, which included using the truck, travel, packaging, and labor. We were really surprised and mad when our final charges were $4665.95. This price increase is more than $1200, a 34% increase from the estimate. The boss, ***, replied in an email, "They explained the difficulty they had getting up your driveway (which we briefly talked about on the phone) and your availability at the door while they unloaded the truck. The crew said that you were busy during the delivery and had to keep asking for directions with the pieces as they came through the door." In reality, it only took about 10 minutes extra as they maneuvered into the driveway that had been plowed, snow blown, and cleared of snow that morning to make it easier for them. On ***'s second point, I was literally on the truck helping them take stuff out. When I asked *** on the phone about the cost of such an inaccurate estimate, he simply repeated what he said in the email. Also, the movers misplaced some screws to put our daughter's crib back together. They searched for 45 minutes after unloading the truck and even blamed us for unpacking the wrong box. The screws for the crib were with the crib mattress in a bag, and we were charged for the time they spent looking for them. The company automatically charged my card an extra $1287 without telling me about the significant increase from the estimate. They only sent a final invoice when I asked about the additional charge on my card. This moving company is unprofessional and *** doesn't take responsibility for his staff's actions. Ultimately, they blame us as the customers. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone for a local or out-of-state move. I wouldn't hire them, and if you do, make sure to keep a close eye on their time and ask lots of questions, or they will overcharge you.
