Carrefour review: No respect to members of staff in front of shoppers

Concerning Incident Witnessed 30 November 2025 at Carrefour Riche Terre
To whom it may concern,

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on 30 November 2025, I witnessed an incident at the cheese counter involving a white, middle-aged man speaking to an older female staff member in an inappropriate manner. His behaviour drew the attention of bystanders and shoppers, as it was highly unprofessional and unacceptable to see a member of management addressing an employee in such a degrading, humiliating and undignified way in a public setting.

The woman appeared visibly frightened and embarrassed, and did not seem able to respond to the barrage of criticism directed at her. This was distressing to witness.

I sincerely hope that Carrefour will take steps to address this situation, as it does not reflect the standards expected in a professional workplace, and it is unlikely that the Mauritian Works Commission will intervene effectively.
