Burger Kingcan't have it my way

Big sign in front of Burger King, Church Street, Hazleton PA. $1 Double Cheesburgers. I entered the drive thru at 11:15AM the only car in line. I don't care for their type of cheese so I ordered two burgers hold the cheese. The kid on the other end of the line said "hold the cheese?" and I confirmed this. ON the screen the order popped up two double hamburgers for 3.78. I corrected him and told him I wanted the double cheeseburgers at $1 each but minus the cheese.

He stated that this becomes the double hamburger at the price charged. I asked what happened to "have it your way" and he said I couldn't have it my way.

I asked to speak to the manager and he said I had to park the car and come in to talk to a manager. I reminded him that the purpose of a drive thru was so that I did not have to come in. I again asked to speak to a manager. He refused to get one for me.

Needless to say we all had McDonalds for lunch today and for many years to come.

You would think in these hard times they would be trying to keep customers, not drive them away. I wasn't asking for more on my sandwich but I acutally wanted LESS than they were offering. What a bunch of JERKS...

Um, if you take the cheese off of a cheeseburger it becomes a hamburger, and that means that the $1 special for a CHEESEburger won't apply.

Burger King was in the wrong. Yes, the situation is trivial, but the principle is important. Why does one have to pay for MORE when he asks for LESS on a sandwich? Adding cheese generally is another 25-35 cents to the cost of a regular sandwich. Sometimes 50 cents depending where you go. The concept of paying more when you're saving THEM money (yes just a few cents, but money nonetheless) is ridiculous. Add into that a rude guy at the back register refusing to get a manager, and you have yourself a legitimate complaint.

The cheese is melted between the patties, [censored]. It's money-saving and time-saving for both parties to just not put the cheese on it at all.

I don't think the usage of "[censored]" is stepping down to a 100% trolling level. Sure I stepped down a bit and got some negative points for use of profanity, but then again, it's Irish.

"I see that Irish is not the only 15 year old on this site, was that comment really called for? Not that her trolling is any better, however you are just stepping down to her level now."

Well said, however I am sure that there are a lot of people who wanted to tell Irish off. Though this is "stooping to her level" she does make people angry. I guess TxAgent was tired of reading her replies, and decided to stoop to her level. Next time maybe they can do it without the name calling. That does not make them a better person. However maybe Irish needs someone to tell her off, not that I encourage this childish behavior. Than again maybe this the kind of thing Irish is striving for and TxAgent is giving it to her.

" Well the [censored] that wrote this letter needs to be less fussy"
Some people cannot have cheese and dairy products. Same advice for you, no need to result to name calling.

Look, if they did not want us to use profanty on this site they would have filters. If you think Irish is bad, Nancy Young is worse, swearing up a storm, talking about all the "wonderful sex" she has to keep her job glorifying child abuse and so on.

Dog, the chicken sandwich would be more expensive so they should not use the have it your way policy, however taking the cheese off the burger won't cost them a thing, the server just refused to do it because he is a [censor]. If he is not a [censor], maybe the OP is sleeping with his wife(joke from last letter)

Billy, It has to do with inventory. It's the same reason why they charge you for ranch and stuff now.

If they sale a million double cheeseburgers for 1 dollar, most people will come in just for THAT deal, and make the company roughly a million dollars (cuz the extra patty, or extra cheese my cost them a cent or two)
But if someone comes in for something other than the deal. The company just uses their REGULAR prices.

It's the same thing that taco bell does, where they have the 79 -89 -99 cent menu, that changes. If you buy that special during their time you can get a Double beef burrito for 99 cents, other wise you pay 1.50. Get it? Got it? Good!

Do any of you agree here that not even reaching for the cheese bin is a lot easier than putting it on the side or the sandwich altogether? Since when do BK employees quote policy anyway? Just don't put the damn cheese on. It's so simple.

I worked for Burger King (not the one you dealt with), for almost 2 years. While the double hamburger for some odd reason is priced higher than the double cheeseburger, if you order a double cheeseburger no cheese, that is how they are supposed to ring it up. It has nothing to do with the logical thing being it's a hamburger. It's about what the customer asks for. So regardless if they have a double hamburger on the menu, if you say cheeseburger no cheese, that's what you ordered, not the double hamburger. At least that is how I was trained to take orders...

And that's how it's supposed to be. Let's take wendy's for example who used to carry the Texas Double Cheeseburger. It had tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles, and mustard, with cheese. It was discontinued and was replaced by what is now referred to as the Double Stack which only comes with pickles onions ketchup mustard and cheese. If you ask for Tomato and Lettuce to be added on it, do you get charged for a Texas double? No, they add the vegetables and send you on your way for the same price.

Don't accuse people of being cheap, it's the value menu, it is implied that it should be cheap.

It's not a hypothetical situation, Stealth. I'm letting you know that when you order a double stack and add Texas Double items on it, its still 99 cents as opposed to the Texas double being upped to 1.29. That's costing Wendy's money and they still do it, and you're telling me BK saves money and won't?

but that also doesn't take into account theiir policy. some places dont charge extra for ranch, some charge 20 cents and some like mcdonalds charge 45. that is also a big factor

A hamburger is cheaper to make than a cheeseburger, no matter how you want to spin it.

Also, they still do carry the Texas Double, it's been upped to 1.29 and the double stack came for 99 cents. My initial post about it was misleading as I said "used to carry" but they still have it, sorry about that.

Also, Michael, you're talking about adding things on to an order, which may increase the chance of more cost being included. We are talking about items being removed from an order, which should have the opposite effect, at the LEAST stay the same price, not the other way around.

Irish, has it ever occurred to you that sometimes people want to go out for a treat, or because they are too tired to cook, they worked long hours, and want to get a quick bite to eat before going home and calling it a night. You are young now, but one day you will face this.

TxAgent for a second I thought you were directing that comment to me. Then I realised it is the other Micheal.

Michael1972 I am saddened by the atrocities that you have committed! My whole life I go by correcting the spelling of my name and a fellow Michael misspells it as well. I now have a hole so deep in my heart an army could jump inside and play hide and go seek, without ever having to start the latter part of it.

Either way, it isn't really fair to blame the kid working.. its not his policy. He may think it is stupid too but you can't just expect an employee to break the rules for you. His supervisors may have been near and would know he was breaking the rule by not charging the correct order price.

you sound like a spoiled brat to me, if you dont like their cheese, why order a double cheeseburger? Then of course you expect to hold up Everybody else in the drive thru to demand to speak to a manager, Are you kidding me? Maybe you should just make your Double Hamburgers at home so that everybody behind you wont be inconvenienced by your tempertantrums, Or, are you just an Attention Seeker? Or is it that you cant make a double hamburger at home for a buck?Whatever your problem is you should find a better place to deal with it than the drive thru at Burger King, And just so you know you selfish little spoiled brat theres people in the World that cant even afford that Dollar for that Double Cheeseburger that you clearly never wanted but can come on here to complain about, you should maybe think about that the next time you venture out and place an order anyplace for something that you never wanted in the first place.

They spend millions on advertising the KING DEAL OF THE DAY, but when you walk into the place, NOT ONE THING IS VISIBLE ABOUT THAT DEAL OR THE DAILY BURGERS. I left & went to drive thru. On the smallest farthest part of the board lists the burgers (no prices) in an unreadable font (unless you brought binoculars). The whopper & the other expensive burgers are in HUGE font, but the cheaper burgers DONT EVEN HAVE A PRICE !!!
    I didn't even get a receipt so I can't even complain. [Date: Oct.23, 2011 ~ Time: 7:28pm - 7:44pm]
It also took about 16 minutes for them to make me 1 burger !!!
