SO, I was once a BJ's member (13 years) but got burned on a couple of their products when I compared prices at local stores that don't charge a membership fee. So I cancelled my membership.
About six months later, they mailed back their retention special of a membership for $10. So I decided at that price it made more sense to give them a second chance.
Renewed the membership at the Warrenville Heights store for the $10 membership fee, went shopping, and they had a $10 off with coupon for two packages. Went up front, went through their coupon books, couldn't find it. So I asked the desk if they could give the $10 discount on the two packages in the cart. She said no, but "You can call member support and ask."
Got out in the care, called member support, and the woman in the call center said she would look into it. She comes back and says she can because I am a returning member and that I would receive the $10 off voucher as a $10 emailed gift card that would get to me first of the week.
So today, I open up the email and it says that they will not give me the $10 gift card because my renewal was for $10.
Here's my problem, they lied. They committed to the $10 gift card. They they took it back.
You cannot call their switchboard at their corporate to speak to anyone because the call disconnects. There is no directory. They operate as a "Black box" retailer, and now, I want my membership money back, which I am sure that they weasal out of.
So twice burned, they don't get a third time. I cancelled the auto renewal. And I have learned my lesson moving forward.
