Banfield Pet Hospital - Dangerous and incompetent vets

I would like to share 3 different experiences I have had with Banfield that have affected me directly or indirectly over the past few years. And before I get into this, I would like to share that I have been with Banfield for I would guess about a decade. I have defended them when others have talked badly. I defended them to my mother after they were...

Banfield Pet Hospital the charge for cancelling a wellness plan even though I never used the new one and care of my pet

I had a diabetic cat that was at banfield for 12yrs in Sewell, NJ. Recently in June and prior to June I asked to have his glucose checked and it was never done. June I took him there for peeing all over my house . Paid extra to have things checked and for some reason they never found an issue which festered so much his abdomen filled with fluid and we had to have him put down in august. I spoke with the billing the day after we put him down and with no compassion they said we need the balance on his plan. I tried to reach the doctor at his hospital but he only comes to that area once in awhile. How is this satifactory. I do not think I need to pay this upgrade when I never used it and the remorse of both customer serice and the hospital was unacceptable.

Desired outcome: no payment of so called balance of upgraded plan that wasn't used. i would like a response

Banfield Pet Hospital Refund of all payments regarding this case.

I just took my pet cat Celina to Banfield Pet hospital in WinterGarden Florida. They charged me $500 for an exam and some blood work. she was jaundace, her abdomen was extended, was vomiting, diarhea and lethargic. They wanted to charge me another $500 for an Xray but we could not afford it so they send her home with a offer to give her an appettite pill. After another week she did not improve so we took her to a different vet who in 20 min of examination noticed this pet had FIP and litterally hours to live. She had been that way for several weeks. The banfield doctor completely missed something that another vet noticed just by listening to her lungs and abdomen. I had to put her down. This is the second time Banfield in FL puts profit and money ahead of the safety and well being of my pet. I called them and asked them what they where going to do about that and the answer was we are so sorry for your loss. I will never bring another pet to any banfield pet hospital again. It would have been better to know that this was terminal a week ago instead of having to try and keep this cat alive with a syringe for over a week.

Banfield Pet Hospital - Harmful employee at Banfield Hospital in Longmont, CO

This happened around 10:15 am on 9/16/23 at the Longmont, CO location. When picking up my cats prescription food at new location, Katie at the front desk told me she could not sell me the food since they don’t have an exam on file. Because this is the first I’ve heard of this, and my prescription card FROM BANFIELD does not expire for 3 more months, I told...

Banfield Pet Hospital Almost killing my dog

On August 15th 2023 my dog wasn't feeling well and I been taking my dog there since he was a puppy. He is on the wellness plan. When I took my dog in that day they did a exam they took blood and his fecal. They told me his blood work was fine and his fecal. I got told everything was good. When it wasn't his red blood cells was dropping dramatically. He became anemic I had to take him to another vet and she was concerned how his vet didn't catch this. He went to a specialist and had a ultrasound done and they found a big mass in his Intestines and was bleeding internally. He had surgery on

August 1,2023. He almost died in banfield care and they didn't care. This has been very emotionally distressed. He is only 4 years old, and I thought the whole point was having a wellness plan to catch that comes up early. Now, there is a possibility my dog might have lymphoma. Banfield should pay for his hospital bill, and any treatments may be headed for my dog. Also, pay for my emotional distress and my husbad along with lost wages. This wasn't right and I will never take my pets back to banfield ever again. what about my dogs pain and suffering along with mine he is my emotional support animal. How did banfield missed this could of been prevented and I believe there was malpractice involved. To tell me lies that my dog is good and healthy when he was dying in there care what kind of vet is this. I have a disability and this has been very stressful and overwhelming to have to go through this. If this doesn't get resolved and make things right I will go to the news I will but my dogs story out there on malpractice by banfield and close of killing my dog. He didn't Deserve this or his family. I have all documents and proof there was malpractice and miss Diagnosis involved. If it doesn't get resolved I my have to take further action because this wasn't right at all and not to care for my dog wellbeing. Here are some pictures of him happy and healthy to when he got sick you can see the difference and I don't get how banfield can tell me my dog is fine. He didn't have a easy life to start with and now this battle he is facing now and in the future. I will be getting a letter from the vet he went to and the specialist of a certificate of merit.

Desired outcome: I would like his hospital bill paid for and his treatments he my need. Along with emotional distress and pain and suffering.

Banfield Pet Hospital Vet services

I have a Banfield Wellness Plan for my dog Wolf Combs. Called them today to try to get a refill on his emergency medications for his seizures because he’s having active seizures. Called them around 2:30 pm today and was going back and forth with the receptionist until about 4 pm. She said the medication was in stock and that she would ask Dr. Lovelace to fill it today since he’s having active seizures. She put me on a 20 minute hold. I called back and spoke with the manager Lindsay Marrow who is a liar. She told me she would ask Dr. Lovelace but she didn’t ask him anything because she responded to me in less than 5 seconds that he said no. I told her I wanted to speak with Dr. Lovelace and she told me no. I then said I wanted to speak with a manager and she said she was the manager. We went over there and she called the police saying we were violent, which was another lie. She then lied and said the medication wasn’t even in stock, when the other lady had already verified it was in stock. This place cares nothing for animals. Also, this isn’t this first issue. The health plan allows unlimited visits, but every time I call they don’t have an appointment available for 3-4 months. SCAM. I want my money refunded for the health plan since I can’t use all of its benefits due to Banfield not having availability for months at a time or them just being willfully incompetent.

Desired outcome: Refund my wellness plan for the past few years

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness plan

I enrolled two of my dogs in a banfield wellness plan last year. Life happens and I did not take my dogs to another appointment for a while but I continued to receive emails and texts reminding me to schedule another appointment and the perks of my wellness plan for a few months so I did not know anything was wrong with my billing. Fast forward to today when I took my dogs in to get caught up on their vaccinations and the receptionist informed me that I was in collections. I called banfield customer service and was told my very first payment that was billed in october of 2022 did not go through and the bank could not tell them why. She claimed they tried to contact me but the only communication from banfield I ever got was when my dogs appointments should be made. I am being told I owe over $1400. I have already scheduled an appointment with a different vet to get my dogs taken care of. I’m extremely disappointed with this service and how the customer service representative spoke to me today. She said I could make payments and get another wellness plan. Why would I want to after what happened with the last one?

Banfield Pet Hospital Banfield customer service

IF I COULD CANCEL THIS DAMN SERVICE AND NEVER USE AGAIN I WOULD!

Today I was scheduled to have an appointment at the Gainesville Virginia location for my dog. Bear in mind, I had one scheduled yesterday as well and was told I didn't have one, then I got a text today stating that they were sorry I missed my scheduled appointment from yesterday, WTF?!?! I called and booked ANOTHER appointment for 2pm today. When I arrived, I was told no its at 4pm which I didn't want as I have responsibilities at home to take care of. Upon hearing this, the employee simply went back to doing what they were doing before I arrived and ignored me. When I finally said forget it and walked off, they did absolutely NOTHING to remedy the situation. Come to find out after a call to the manager to express my frustration of wasting my time for a second day, she indicated that the employee actually got up from his seat (which he didn't do) and go into the back to see if the can accommodate me for 2pm. This did not happen! He simply argued with me about how my scheduled appointment was for 4pm not 2pm. The manager then decided that I was the one in the wrong since I was upset and left and now I am left with a dog that is not up to date on her shots and have wasted my time 2 days in a row with this terrible location, which we have gone to for years and this is the worst it has ever been!

I called corporate and was told that they don't handle any complaints that they must be directed to the store. Talk about passing the buck and not caring about your customers and wasting their time!

Banfield Pet Hospital Cancellation

My cat passed away, and I'm trying to cancel the Wellness Plan. During my phone call, the Banfield representative says, "The cost to cancel this plan is $465.63". The slogan on their page is "Here for love". What do they love? Money? I didn't see any love for pets and humans. Also, the same representative threatened debt collection if I will not pay in full.

Desired outcome: I want my account canceled and not paying the balance.

Banfield Pet Hospital Blood test results

On May 13, 2023, we took our dog for our semi annual blood and fecal test to ensure everything was ok. We pay Banfield Hospital a monthly fee and this service was included. We rely heavily on the vet's opinions and each time we ask how are the results showing and each time we were told his results were fine. In fact, the overall results were "good" according to the vet. We put down our dog two days ago who passed from Lymphoma cancer. We went back to his blood work in May 2023 discovering that his hemoglobin, lymphocytes, and neutrophil tests were not normal. We have soon discovered that lymphcyte test is an indicator of cancer. We were never once told by Banfield that further investigation was required. They took our money and were not diligent in informing us that there was issues with the blood work. They simply did not act in good faith or a good duty of care. We are not vet's and an owner should not have to investigate what the blood tests mean. We pay and rely on the opinion of experts to give us peace of mind that our pets are healthy. We are grieving the loss of our family member which has been tough and all this could have been avoided and we could have given our pet a chance of chemo. We are frankly disgusted that Banfield would place dollars over care. In future, we will not rely on what vets are telling us and do our own investigation which is deplorable. What has the world come to when you cannot trust the experts.

Desired outcome: An investigation into what happened

Banfield Pet Hospital Banfield customer service at 1725 aversboro rd, garner, nc 27529

Date 7/21/23. Time 1:40 PM to 1:50 PM. I am calling from another Veterinary Hospital in which we share a mutual client. Client told me that he normally goes to Banfield Aversboro Rd, Garner location. I spoke w/ CSC Named "Hal". I was asking for a verbal on mutual client and P. HWT as customer was purchasing prevention. I was told that she could not upload the file b/c it was at the Six Forks location, and I needed to call them. I told her that it takes a minute to upload the file and please if she would tell me the info as client asked me to call this location in which he normally goes. CSR said she could not. I told her that I had worked at Banfield for 5 years and we helped mutual clients all the time in which "Hal" told me that she can only upload a file to book appmnt. I asked to speak to PM "Michelle" Bax in which I was told not available. "Hal: then told me that she spoke to her shift lead"Kathy"Rutherford in which she also states that she could not upload the file. To make a long story short I ended up calling the Six Forks location in which the CSR told me this is not your policy and apologized that we had to go through this. Your client was upset and states that if it is that difficult to get the dogs info then they will reconsider going to Banfield. Just wanted to let you know that"Hal" attitude was non helpful and her tone was as if she couldn't care less about helping your client and our shared client..

Desired outcome: Please have them review Banfield CORE values including RESPONSIBILITY, MUTUALITY, EFFICIENCY!

Banfield Pet Hospital Service

I was in route to pick my dog’s medication up. I was caught in traffic so I called. In doing so I kept getting the the we’re closed message meanwhile it’s only about 5:30pm and the clinic is supposed to close at 6:00pm as stated per voicemail and website. So I proceeded to call pets smart where this banfield clinic is located. I spoke with someone and they checked on the situation and informed me they were having issues with the phone and it was ok to call back. I did so and I spoke with a young lady at this point it’s about 5:40pm. I told her that I was in route to pick up my dogs medicine and that I would be there by 6:00(closing time) maybe 6:05 at the latest. However, she told me that the register was already closed and that I would have to come another day. I mentioned that I would be there by 6:00pm and again she told me that she could not help even if I did show up before 6:00pm because as she stated the registers had already been closed. I am partially handicap individual that does not drive at the moment. Meaning I have to inconvenience someone or pay money to get from place to place. So for her to tell me to just come the next day when their not suppose to close for another 15 mins is unprofessional and bad business when I’m paying for ur services.

Banfield Pet Hospital Cancellation

I have been calling Banfield for two weeks and sitting on the phone for more than an hour at times. I called my local Banfield where I have been taking my dog to for over ten years. They referred me to go in search on the internet because they don't do cancellations there. I informed them that my dog has died and I didn't even receive a "I'm sorry for your loss" My framily is going through a difficult time right now and all Banfield has to offer is a host of phone numbers with messages... Animal lovers would understand the pain... But this is a cruel company that only understand how much more money can they get from a grieving family

Desired outcome: Cancel my plan

Banfield Pet Hospital The largo hospital

Good morning, I have been bringing my grand dog Meela to the largo hospital for a very long time. I am sending this email because the system you have in place there is very bad. when you call them the phone rings forever, you have to keep hitting 0 6 or 7 times before someone picks up. Please find a new phone system. its so bad they still have the thanksgiving message on the answering machine. I put in a request for a refill of Meela forever Medicine yet I'm get the run around. it's so bad now that the doctors don't even know the Medicine they prescribed and if your dog doctors not there no other doctor there can help to ok a refill a prescription. I am very upset this is the 2nd month I have gotten the run around on Meela refills. I place that order on the 2nd of July and Meela does not have her medicine yet. I am asking for someone in your organization to please take the time to spend a day with them on surprise visit or call and see how you do on the phone. my number is [protected]. I Really hope something is done asap before our pets die over a phone or a doctor not on call there and he's no help because he or she was not the doctor that prescribed that medication.

A very DISAPPOINTED Customer in the largo hospital.

Banfield Pet Hospital Cancellation of deceased pet

It appears from what I have read I am falling under the same rouse of canceling at any time is not the case. It also appears the OWP plans the money they are collecting even after the animal has passed is going into their coffer of funds. They also kept saying for services used, when my pet only went 1 time in the current year. It is disappointing and I can't seem to find the print of the agreed contract with any stipulation of cancelation and what is considered services rendered. Maybe the common allusion is believing it is a service like insurance to help cover the high expense of pet care, Like auto insurance pray not to have an accident and when you do you get canceled after filing a claim. Although I appreciate the help with the high costs. I do resent paying for a pet that no longer exists.

Desired outcome: No further chargers for a none existing pet who has no services being used.

Banfield Pet Hospital Wellness care plan

When I went to Banfield vet clinic in Clovis, Ca. for a vaccine for my dogs, I asked how much the shots for both dogs are, the front desk clerk hesitated to give the exact total, but then goes to tell me if I join their wellness care plan that I would save a lot of money for future vaccines as well. I mention to her I do not want to join any subscriptions plans for my dogs I just need the vaccines, but then she said my dogs can't be seen without the subscription, but the good news was that I can cancel at any time. So I agreed to join the plan for both of my dogs. My dogs get seen I pay $250 for each or so plus tax. I confirm with the clerk, so I paid for the vaccines and for their visit and that I can cancel at any time! she says yes then highlights what site I can go to cancel. So the next I month go to cancel my subscriptions but run into a problem saying I can't cancel until I pay what I owe. At this point I'm confused and angery because of how long it's taking to cancel this subscription. I end up calling the vet office to explain what I wanted to do then the vet tells me I can't cancel until I pay what I owe. I let her know I pay for everything I got the same day they were seen; she states that I owe x amount of because the screen exams are so expensive, so they broke it down into the subscription. I am so upset because I made sure I had paid for everything I got for my dogs that day because I hate hidden fees, nonetheless I'm still getting charged till this day, but I can't afford paying for their mistakes of not knowing or for them purposely bathing the customers for their own selfish gain.

Desired outcome: I need to cancel my subscription and get paid back for what the auto-pay has have been taking since January of this year.

Banfield Pet Hospital Dental

Took my dog in because she yelped chewing a dental stick. Looked in her mouth and her gums were so red, it scared me. First visit seemed fine and caring, I was told by the vet tech, that tooth extraction was 45.00. So I signed up for their program. Second visit was a horror story. He called when she was under, told me she needs 12 teeth pulled. I was shocked, but anything for my baby. As we talked about it, he put it all on me to decide what to pull. I asked how much to pull just 3 teeth, he told me, 600.00. I was gobsmacked! I tried to find info, to make a decision, but I didn't have that. He was aggressive and told me he didn't want her under to long because of liver numbers... Still not sure, I had to decide on antibiotics shots, per him, for 125.00, cash! After pick up, they went over nothing and said the doctor would call me. No call. I had a prior engagement out of town, she was better with the antibiotics. Yried to call and email once I was back. I've never seen the xrays or something on paper about what teeth or the liver information. I've complained to the wellness program i'm paying 80.00 a month for, corporate and the actual place... Crickets! Worst experience! I've already paid hundreds out of pocket with both explanations.

Desired outcome: Help for my dog. I am literally saving to take her somewhere else because I don't trust them.

Banfield Pet Hospital Optimum Wellness Plan

I'm filing a complaint against Bandfield Pet Hospital. They opened an account that I did not authorize to open in my name. My previous account was charged off and paid in full removing me of any responsibility. When I contacted Bandfield upon my account being charged off, they confirmed that the account was closed, so why am I being charged for a billed that I did not authorize. After speaking with a Banfield rep, they confirmed that the plan was reactivated without my written or verbal authorization. What is Banfield policy? Do they not check for ID to confirm signature Authenticity? I have not received no noticed of any active plans until today receiving a letter in the mail about a bill. No one from the Banfield sent me any correspondence about an active plan. I need this complaint to be filed.

Desired outcome: Please close out the account and waive the bill due payment that is owed of $208.85

Banfield Pet Hospital Banfield pet hospital visit Arundel Mills MD

Brought my dog in to Arundel Mills MD. for aheartworm prevention visit. The vet was so incompetent she kept calling her a he. When the exam was supposed to happen the assistants and vet ran around the small room pulling on her leg for blood work. No petting, no niceties, no exam table. They stressed us both out.

Then they tried to put a muzzle on her. She would not allow it and kept hiding under a seat. They were all mad at both of us. No exam was done, but I did try to help by holding my dog as best I could. The vet barely got to listen to it. She said because she did that, it counts as an exam and could charge for the visit because of it. I was stupid enough to help her. I could not get the medication.

They said for $234 they could tranquilize her. I said no. Banfield should be ashamed of themselves. It's all about money with them. I want all my money refunded so I can take her to a real vet. What a disgrace.

Desired outcome: Refund my $88
