This happened around 10:15 am on 9/16/23 at the Longmont, CO location. When picking up my cats prescription food at new location, Katie at the front desk told me she could not sell me the food since they don’t have an exam on file. Because this is the first I’ve heard of this, and my prescription card FROM BANFIELD does not expire for 3 more months, I told her that’s fine, I can schedule an exam but I need to buy the food now since I am out of his food. She then told me she would not sell me the food, and that “maybe you should be a better cat owner and stay on top of these things.” AGAIN, because this is the first I’ve heard of this and my prescription card is not expired AND she told me this is because I’m not a good cat owner, I responded “you’re f****** kidding me right?” She then spoke to me like I was 4 and said “NO MAAM. WE DO NOT SPEAK THAT WAY.” I immediately left and got the food at a farther away location (with no issues may I add). I did schedule an exam with them because I do not want any issues in the future, and the policy makes sense, I just had no idea until today. When I explained what happened to the employee that the second location, she explained that Katie’s behavior was inappropriate and that I should file a complaint. When I called the Longmont location to get Katie’s name and a number to call to file a complaint, she hung up on me. I tried calling again, with no answer. I then decided to schedule an appointment with a fake name and used my work cell so she would answer. That’s how I was able to get her name. I have never been treated this way by a Banfield employee and am honestly in complete shock this company allows people who are harmful to their customers and their cats continue working for them. On top of that, I know she knew the way she treated me was absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional, hence her hanging up on me and refusing to answer when I called. If I was not able to get the food at a different location, my cat’s health would’ve been jeopardized by Katie’s incompetence, arrogance, and negligence. I please hope this location considers the ramifications of having Katie employed here, because her actions have been very harmful and inappropriate.

Desired outcome: Termination of employment for Katie due to her harmful and inappropriate behavior in hopes to reduce future harm to other customers and their pets
