Rented a car for 4 days at Avis Nice Airport (France). On day 2, the tire went flat — a mechanical fault, not an accident. The 24h assistance line was unreachable for a full hour; we finally got through via the online form, then waited 3 hours for a tow truck. It arrived at our hotel instead of the car's location; the driver spoke no English, took a photo of the tire, loaded the car and left without a single word on how to proceed. Next day at the airport desk, the agent (who refused to give her name) declared the flat tire was OUR fault and charged us €826.10 — tire, assistance, a full tank of fuel and other unexplained fees. A flat tire on a rental car is a vehicle malfunction, not the customer's fault. We are filing an official complaint and disputing the charge.
Claimed loss: €826.10
Desired outcome: Full refund of the €826.10 charged for a mechanical fault on their own vehicle, plus reimbursement for the lost rental day.
