Aspen Dental Charging more after agreed fee

Went to dentist at aspen dental in niles ohio because they said they give 20% off if you have no dental insurance. I had a infectected tooth and needed a cavity filled. They told me that the cost without insurance would be 267.00. They made me pay the bill up front. Now they sent me another bill for 190.00 because they said the insurance didnt pay anything on my bill. I no they didnt pay anything, because I told them up front, that I only had insurance for basic cleaning and check-up and xrays, nothing else. Thats 457.00 to pull one tooth and for 1 filling, which we agreed in advance would be 267.00 for the full cost. They told me they gave me a lower charge because my insurance company promised to pay some on the bill and changed their mind. You no that is an out right lie, no insrance company would ever say they would pay on the bill if it were not covered. Aspen even lied about the 20% off, they advertise all over the united states they give you 20% off and they didnt even offer it. They want to cheat me for as much as they could, most dentist charge 190.00 to pull atooth, they 253.00 with out any discount and a filling 204.00., even though we agreed up front the totla cost would 267.00 they tried to con me into 1, 500 to get my teeth cleaned, but told them no way, if I would have they would sent me another bill on top of that. People dentist all over america are ripping people off. I just started going hear, because I had to leave dental works in niles, who also ripped me off

Nice people — just the same as other dentist office, they all have crooked people working in billing trying to rip people off

Desired outcome: keep agreed fee of 267.00 and stop trying to add to bill

Aspen Dental Initial consultation

Before scheduling my appointment for my initial consultation, I asked what the charges for consultation and they told me they were free consultations for first time patients. So i scheduled my appointment and did my first visit. The price of the denture package was more than i could afford. I'm on Medicare and only have a $1, 000 allowance for Dental work. Then 1 month later my insurance called me and questioned the charges of $214 from Aspen Dental. We called Aspen on a recorded line to question them about the charges and they explained that since i had insurance they charged $214 and Insurance paid $160. But also said If i wouldnt have had insurance they would have only charged me $25 for my initial consultation. They admitted on a recorded line they charge more if you have insurance. That is the definition of insurance fraud. I requested the $160 back since this was my allowance and cost me to have to pay more when I purchased my dentures from another dentist since all I had was $1, 000 allowance. They have not responded and will not return my call. I don't want to have to go to small claims court but I will. I would appreciate someone help to avoid court. I will pay $25 out of my $160 refund for the consult visit as stated.

Desired outcome: Refund $135

Aspen Dental Comfilytes dentures / failure to provide service / malpractice

Hi all.

I'm posting today regarding my experience with Aspen Dental in Citrus Heights, CA.

They took more than $9, 000 from me, pulled my teeth and now refuse to give me my permanent dentures, going so far as to fire me as a patient when I complained.

I have limited resources, and I'm desperate.

Please read my thread, linked below. I know it is long, but it provides all the details, with evidence.

I truly need some good advice.

https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1455582559962759175.html

Desired outcome: I want what I have paid for: The ability to eat, speak and smile with confidence. This is what I was promised and denied. I am very interested in joining a class action lawsuit.

Aspen Dental Dental exam and credit card opened without my authorization

I went in because one end of a bridge had come loose. The dentist came in, and after pulling on that end, told me it was not loose. I told him that this was not my imagination, that, of course, it was loose. He doubled down and left the room, after which the dental hygienist told me I needed a deep cleaning for $2300, and four subsequent visits in the following 12 months at $250 each, for a total of $3300. I was then led to the front office where the financial employee tried to get me to sign up for the Care Credit card, a credit card issued by Synchrony Bank(with whom I've done business for many years). I told her that I would need to think about it and I left. A few days later, I received an email stating that my Care Credit card had been approved, and there was a charge for $1400 from Aspen Dental, for work to which I hadn't agreed, and a card for which I hadn't applied. I called Synchrony, and after an investigation, they determined that I definitely had not applied for the card. Within a few days, I was able to get an appointment with another dentist who found that the bridge was, indeed, loose, and he performed the proper work the following week. Aspen Dental employees are both incompetent and fraudulent.

Aspen Dental Dental billing error

I went to Aspen dental and had some work done and I was told that it would all be covered by the two dental insurances that I had. I received a bill not too long afterwards and was very surprised to have received a bill for in excess of $500 since it was supposed to be covered 100%. I contacted the office to find out that the staff had made an error about the insurance coverage and I had this big bill. I started making payments immediately. Never missed a month without payments. Last payment was made just last week, however, they sent me to collections anyway.
I am appalled that despite payments and communication with the office AND the fact that THEY MADE THE INSURANCE ERROR that they still sent my account to collections! During these times, payments aren't enough?!?! Ridiculous that despite constant communication they are low enough to sent this to collections. Not to mention that the work was not going to be done unless it was covered. The dentist knew that I couldn't afford it and was going to wait and the only reason it got done at that time was because I was told it was covered. I contacted them about making payments and during pandemic times, they don't accept payments. Seems unethical practice to not work with your patients and send to collections especially since the situation started with their error. Glad that we are no longer with this practice.

Aspen Dental Services

I am writing because I am very upset with the service I received at Aspen Dental. I have been receiving treatment for services for months at the same location Halls Ferry and Lindberg (3115). I come to the office as usually for my appointment at
2:30pm, arriving about 2:25pm there were no other client in the lobby to be seen at this time. The attendant at the desk has trouble locating me in the system which was strange since I have been coming for months. She tells me she is registering my I can have a seat. I sat in the lobby for forty-five minutes for her to tell me my appointment was canceled due to me not confirming my appointment. Funny thing is I have never confirmed an appointment so this was rather confusing. Thinking my name will be called since I been sitting here and they begin calling other that starting to come in the building. Now I am looking at the person at the desk and she says her manager informed her my appointment was cancelled. I ask the young lady at the desk why would you let me sit here for forty-five minutes and the appointment was cancelled. I asked for a manager was told she was but with patients, but somehow had time to tell the young lady my appointment was cancelled this is very upsetting as I work five days a week and to take time off work and then find you time to be wasted when you have a confirmation saying your appointment is today. The young lady at the desk needs training does not know how to handle the front desk. I always share my experience of Aspen Dental which was always good until this event.

Desired outcome: NEW LOCATION

Aspen Dental unauthorized credit application

I was in the office July 2021. Nicole Bailey suggested I apply for their credit and I said I dont want another credit card since I'm working on my finances and don't want my credit score affected. I told her I'd rather wait for October 2021 because I will have dental insurance. She suggested to apply because it's only a soft credit check and will not affect my score and if I'm approved the offer will be good for 30 days. (I have all of this info in an email from her as well) She entered that my income is $3, 000 a month. I told her thats incorrect that I dont make that much not even gross. She said "I always put a little more just to make sure it's approved" I said I probably will not use it because I cant afford another monthly payment either way. A few weeks ago I receive a credit card in the mail with a $10, 000 limit. I emailed her at least 10 times in 2 weeks and she's avoiding me. She made a huge mistake and now I'm suffering for it while she gets promoted to manager in another location. How can you help correct her error.

Desired outcome: I want this card closed without my credit score affected ultimately, which is rare but for her to be held accountable

Aspen Dental Deceptive Billing

Do not get in the chair! They quoted me one price while I was in the chair, claimed they had already run it through my insurance. Bi-annual Cleaning was supposed to be out of pocket for me $350. That's what they quoted. My insurance paid $560. And they send me a bill for an additional $190! Sold me a mouth wash that the hygentist said I needed to keep infection away. Charged me $41 for 16 ounces. Told me to come back when I needed more. I checked Walmart $11 for 32 ounces. With insurance total charged over $1, 000 for a cleaning! CROOKS!

Aspen Dental Dentures

Bought a $1600.00 upper denture from Aspen Dental, One month a tooth fell out while eating a hamburger, went back and it was fixed, then another tooth fell out, and had to go back and get it fixed. then after having the denture about 6-8 months it cracked in half. I was spissed off, to say the least. I demanded that they replace my denture and they refused, saying it was under warranty and that they would fix it or give me my money back. They fixed it by adding metal mesh to the roof of the denture making it bigger and somewhat uncomfortable. then another tooth fell out and had to have it fixed also. Now my warranty it up and there are cracks in the denture and another tooth fell out. I had my first upper denture 12 years and never a problem. I am waiting for the office manager to call back, they need to make this right, or I'm thinking of taking them to court. cannot afford to drop another $1, 600 at another dentist. I'm thinking they used inferior materials to make the denture and I did not get what I paid for?

Desired outcome: New denture

Aspen Dental Upselling uneeded procedures, misrepresenting procedures, coercion, total dishonesty.

10/21/2021 Return for a 6 month cleaning. Immediately tried to collect $141. My insurance pays 100%. No, this is the balance after your "deep Cleaning". Don't want a deep cleaning. Had one last time and it wasn't a deep cleaning, it was squirting god knows what around my teeth. I've had deep cleanings, this wasn't it. Hygienist wanted to argue with me about ethics and legality of them only providing a cleaning. Imagine, Aspen Dental worried about ethics and legality. Eventually, after telling me, 66 years old, what the American Academy of Pediatrics demanded they do, she went after Dr. Chang. Dr. Chang was immediately and aggressively in my face demanding why I wanted her to lie to the insurance company. I don't want anyone to lie. Don't bill for services you don't provide, you don't need to worry. Unless I agreed to their upselling, I could find a new provider. I said that I gladly would. She snatched the towel from my neck in a way that could be construed as assault. They won't bully this one into uneeded treatments. After returning home, I started to read reviews. This seems endemic in all practices across the country. I was also surprised to learn that all clinics are privately owned by dentists. Even more incentive to try to bilk the public. They should be ashamed. Maybe if more people complain to their state dental boards, better business bureau, insurance company, and state attorneys general, their behavior would improve. That is my task for the day, complaint filing.

Aspen Dental Unnecessary procedure then overcharge without consent

Needed emergency work done. Went to Aspen dental. THey evaluated my damage from an accident and told me that I needed a, "Deep Cleaning" first before they could address the damaged teeth. They signed me up for a high interest credit card and charged $3, 000 for the cleaning then refused to do the other work until I coughed up $7000. They are scam artists and use the bait and switch then get you hooked in debt with a scam credit card.

Aspen Dental I received a Fortiva retail credit card from the Aspendental office that I can not use?

I was invited to apply for a credit card to help me with my dental bill (so I could afford it). I was told I would receive deferred payments for 12 months (?). I agreed to let the office assistance complete the application for me. I did not receive the card with the deferred payment, but I did receive a retail credit card from Fortiva. At this time I am being told that I can not use this credit card to pay the outstanding bill I have with Aspendental. My account number for Aspendental [protected], I have an outstanding balance of $499.00. This outstanding bill is from receiving a retainer. I received the retainer on 6/14/21. I was called to pick up the retainer, I informed the office I would be there on 6/14/21. I had an appointment on 6/26/21. After seeing the dentist I paid my bill (with Fortiva retail credit card). the balance was only for $209.00 it did not include the $499.00. The young lady that charged my card told me she could not get the bill generated for the $499.00. She would send me the bill later; I said alright not knowing if I was not charged at that time I would not be able to use the Fortiva retail credit card. My resolution I am able to use the Fortiva retail credit card for this bill. I have spoken to the corporate office at [protected]. I was informed that there would be an attempt to contact the second office manager not Alissa Kriczky (she informed me that I could not use the Fortiva retail credit card).

This communication, I received a phone call from Alissa Kriczky around 3:59pm on 10/8/21. After making 3 calls to the corporate office. I returned the call and left several messages; I am still waiting for the call back. I also email [protected]@aspendental.com

Desired outcome: I want to use the Fortiva retail credit card to pay this bill with

Before my first appointment, they had a copy of my insurance card. All the info was there. They tried to tell me that the I.D. number was wrong and kept asking for my SSN. No way was that going to happen. Now I know why, they are running people's credit with the number and applying for care loans and sticking them with huge bills and high interest.

Aspen Dental Temporary crown placement

I went to get my tooth prepped for a crown on 9/20/21. I have already had 2 on before and a bridge, so I knew what to expect. I let the dentist know that 1 injection of Novacain would not suffice, and I always need two. He scoffed and ignored me, claiming I didn't know that that sure. He did one injection, waited 10 minutes, checked me, and claimed I didn't truly feel the pain of the cold shot of water on my tooth when I said I did. He then gave me an unknown injection that caused searing pain and then another shot of Novacain.
After that took effect, he did the procedure and it was the most painful thing I have ever experienced. My jaw was open all the way, but he pushed down on it when I couldn't go any further stating that I wasn't open enough. He used more force when he was drilling my tooth down than I believe was necessary. After he finally finished and placed the temporary on, it was apparently too large and he shaved the back off. He asked me how it felt, and I said it felt odd and not right. He explained it was because he gave me something stronger in the syringe than Novacain on top of the 2 shots of Novacain so I would be extra numb for 6 hours and that was why it felt off.
Well, it is now 10/5 and I'm taking Tylenol every morning and afternoon due to the severe pain I feel up my skull from the tooth, I can't eat on that side without extra pain, my mouth has a constant taste of metal, brushing my teeth hurts, and I haven't been able to floss since it has been placed. I called them to ask why all this is, and the receptionist said the doctor claims he didn't do any type of malpractice, he placed it on in good faith that it was properly set, I should deal with it until 10/13 when my permanent is to be placed by him, and if I can't deal with the minor pain, he can fix it but I'll be paying for the appointment and whatever is done.
I do not recommend anybody going to Aspen ever. They refuse to acknowledge their mistake and disregarded my attempt at telling them it was wrong, and I felt it when I was numb.

Aspen Dental Dentures do not work

Went to Aspen Dental for full dentures. Surgery for removal of bad teeth was painful, but I healed ok. The fitting and construction of dentures was problematic. They got the bottom done ok but the top never stays in place despite many returns for adjustments. This is at the heart of the problem. Once they get your money, they are done with helping to make it right. The entire sales pitch was straight forward stating that they would fix the problem: making me able to eat correctly again. I was very clear that I was not there for aesthetics, but I was only there to be able to eat correctly again. The sale person said that my problem was fixable. The sales pitch was very intense, and very costly. $24, 000+. I was aghast with stress and cried. My wife tried to calm me down telling me that we could take a loan out to pay for it. The sales person chimed in with sales pitch for their finance loan program. I am now stuck with a high loan with a high monthly payment of $700.00. Additionally, every time I went back for the adjustments, they tried to tack on extra costs. Why am I paying for adjustments costs when the denture never worked to begin with. I do not mind paying good money for a good product. I will not tolerate anything less than that. I am fed up with this crap.

Desired outcome: Make this work or give my money back
