Aspen Dental - Denture repair service

On Thursday October 13th My Husbands Upper Denture Broke in two Pieces. We went up town to Our Local Shallotte NC Aspen Dental Office Because their web site said the had a lab and did Denture repairs, they informed us that we would have to go to the North Myrtle Beach SC Office Because they do not have a lab for repairs. So we left and decided we better call the SC office before heading there, we were told on the phone that we could walk in early the next morning they said we needed to get there 8:00 or 8:30 The Next Morning Of October 14th.

We got there early that morning and the Lady working the front desk, (not very friendly) ask my husband to put his dentures in a container that she had and she took them to the back to be looked at by the repair guy, she came back and said he can repair them and the cost would be $177.00 She bragged that her guy was the best. she told us to come back in two hours, so since we are from NC and this was a different state we had to just hang out for the 2 hours in the parking lot. After 2 hours they were ready, we picked them up and drove back to NC

On Friday October 28th my husband was eating a Ham Sandwich, I was sitting beside him and we both heard the denture pop they had cracked again in the same place, he immediately called the North Myrtle Beach Office, they had already closed. (They Close Early Every Friday) so my husband left a message letting them know that the repair had broke and it had only been 2 weeks.

Finally on Monday Morning he was able to get someone on the phone, it was the same unfriendly lady that was working on the 13th. she told him he could come on back up there and they could repair them again, he said you are going to do this for free right since the repair was just done 2 weeks ago, and she got really nasty with him on the phone, and said no that we would have to pay another $177.00

He told her that if she would have told him the repair would only last 2 weeks we would have put the extra $200.00 with the $177.00 and bought a new upper denture, then she claimed she did but we reminded her that the only thing she told us that day was that her guy was the best. that's all she said never said that the repair is temporary or that it would only last 2 weeks, she just bragged that he was the best (we were both standing there when she said this), nor did the repair guy come out and say that this repair would not last.

We are elderly and live on a fixed income, we know that a repair maybe would only last 6 months or so to get us past the holidays. We really could not afford to be out the $177.00 and now he has to get a new upper denture on top of the repair.

we feel that they should have just been honest with us, this was wrong of them, feels like they just take advantage of the elderly.

The least they could have done is offered to do another repair for free or apply the $177.00 we paid toward a new upper Denture.

I hope something can be done about this

Thank You

Michael Lynch

Tina Lynch

Desired outcome: Our $177.00 We Paid for a poor repair Applied To a new upper denture We can send a pic if needed

I needed a denture repair. Got an appointment with aspen dental in birth myrtke beach by registering online. I then received an email saying it needed to be rescheduled. That was within s couple hours. So I called the number, talked to s lady, and she said there was actually an appointment for that time, so she would give it to me. I told her what I needed. The next day I got a call from the office here and they said I needed to reschedule. I told her I had called and they had booked me in , at the same time for my dentures repair. She said there was an opening but my name was not there. She couldn't do it, but would have someone call to book. So a gal called. I again said I needed a denture repaired. She put me in the time slot and went over appointment info. She said they would do am exam and x-ray. I said I just needed denture repaired. Asked her how much all that would cost. She said it was free with new patients. So, 1) they need I was a new patient, 2) they knew all I needed was denture repair. I showed up, in time, and completed all paper work. They finally got me in for x-ray, then they started me to wait again. They took me in. Examined by hygienist, who was totally in professional. She grabbed a tool to check my gums. Did her thing and left, without so much as rinsing my mouth with water. Finally dentist comes in, talked about the teeth that weren't a problem. Told her I was there for denture repair. She Took them, walked out, and right back in to say they don't do repairs on denture not made by aspen dental. This is after an hour and 20 minutes jumping through b hoops when they knew all along they were not aspehn denture, because I was a new patient. At no time did anyone ask me if aspehn dental had done my dentures or tell me they would not repair if not done by them.

Aspen Dental - Upselling uneeded procedures, misrepresenting procedures, coercion, total dishonesty.

10/21/2021 Return for a 6 month cleaning. Immediately tried to collect $141. My insurance pays 100%. No, this is the balance after your "deep Cleaning". Don't want a deep cleaning. Had one last time and it wasn't a deep cleaning, it was squirting god knows what around my teeth. I've had deep cleanings, this wasn't it. Hygienist wanted to argue with me about ethics and legality of them only providing a cleaning. Imagine, Aspen Dental worried about ethics and legality. Eventually, after telling me, 66 years old, what the American Academy of Pediatrics demanded they do, she went after Dr. Chang. Dr. Chang was immediately and aggressively in my face demanding why I wanted her to lie to the insurance company. I don't want anyone to lie. Don't bill for services you don't provide, you don't need to worry. Unless I agreed to their upselling, I could find a new provider. I said that I gladly would. She snatched the towel from my neck in a way that could be construed as assault. They won't bully this one into uneeded treatments. After returning home, I started to read reviews. This seems endemic in all practices across the country. I was also surprised to learn that all clinics are privately owned by dentists. Even more incentive to try to bilk the public. They should be ashamed. Maybe if more people complain to their state dental boards, better business bureau, insurance company, and state attorneys general, their behavior would improve. That is my task for the day, complaint filing.
