American Home Shield has offered us $596.56 cash-out and $3,523 out-of-pocket paid to their 2-star ‘service contractor’ provided by American Home Shield (AHS).

We were not satisfied with the diagnosis provided by the service contractors provided through AHS. Therefore, we decided to get an accredited source (out of pocket), to render an independent/second opinion on our HVAC system. They were NOT hired to work on the system, but for evaluating its status.

"Right now Air and Solar" from Vacaville, California (YELP- https://www.yelp.com/biz/right-now-air-and-solar-vacaville-3) is a verified licensed company, with 4.4-stars on Yelp and hundreds of satisfied customers.

Upon their visit on 8/16/23, the following were their most compelling points/suggestions-

1. There is a leak in the downstairs AC unit, identified by visual inspection (Photo proof attached).

2. The visit from an AHS appointed technician (8/2, Certified Air) has rendered our AC system damaged beyond repair. The [Certified Air] technician pumped our system full of nitrogen to try to find the leak and the nitrogen has ruined our ac system, motor, pumps. A repair is ‘not recommended’ due to the age and the stress the nitrogen caused on our system. He never informed us to not run the system filled with nitrogen, as it would ‘be dangerous’ and extremely ‘adverse’ to the system. This technician also declined going up to the attic for inspection where half of the AC unit is located and hence it is imperative to get a full understanding of its status (please read detailed report from Right Now Air and Solar, attached). AHS never sent one technician that viewed the whole system.

3. Our system is 18 years old, repairs advised by AHS will not only be cost-extensive for us, but also it doesn't guarantee the proper functioning, or longevity of our system after recommended repairs. Especially after their tech left our system filled with nitrogen, it's deemed damaged beyond repair.

We subscribed to AHS as a trusted source, to be able to provide the right tools and assistance to fix our covered appliances, when problems arise. We are deeply disappointed with the response thus far with incompetent technicians from South Placer Heating and Air (YELP-https://www.yelp.com/biz/south-placer-heating-and-air-loomis-2) and Certified Comfort (YELP-https://www.yelp.com/biz/certified-comfort-vacaville), sub-par coverage and total lack of willingness to solve this problem. We have endured several 100+ Fahrenheit degree days without a cooling system in our house.

We do want to work with AHS, but they will have to do better than the current offer of $596.56 for repair. An option that no longer exists due to the damage done by their repairman on August 2nd.

We hope they will uphold their honor, and do the right thing by their customers.

Sincerely,

Jason Marion

Desired outcome: The complete full $5,000 offered to Gold Membership for HVAC repair- probably not even half of what we'll need to replace our AC unit after THEIR "SPECIALIST" broke it down.
