My Review
American Home Shield makes it easy to collect your money but nearly impossible to reach anyone with the authority to resolve a problem.
Its outsourced customer service system has been an exercise in frustration. Representatives seem unable to resolve serious issues, while attempts to reach U.S.-based management or corporate decision-makers go nowhere. Scripted responses, repeated explanations, and no meaningful escalation are unacceptable.
What are customers paying for if they cannot get help when something goes wrong?
Consumers should also know that AHS is part of Frontdoor, Inc., which owns several other home warranty brands. If you are leaving AHS over poor service, research the ownership of your next provider. A different name does not necessarily mean a different parent company.
Outsourcing does not excuse a lack of accountability. Customers deserve an accessible path to someone empowered to fix problems, not endless transfers and apologies.
AHS and Frontdoor should explain why escalating unresolved complaints is so difficult and provide a reliable route to corporate management.
My advice: Investigate ownership, customer complaints, and escalation procedures before buying any home warranty. A warranty should bring peace of mind, not become another battle.
Buyer beware: A warranty means little when the company behind it cannot provide meaningful accountability.
Recommendation: buyer beware They are not the same as they use to be
