The company failed to verify who they were speaking with as well as provide the mini-miranda. A letter was received from Access Receivables on 04/08 stating that an amount was owed from a creditor by the name of ***. When I called the phone number [protected] a gentleman answered and failed to mention his name on the call. The gentleman asked what he could assist with and I advised him i wanted to confirm what the amount was for. The gentleman then asked if i received a letter and i advised that i did to which he asked me for the Access ID#. I provided the information to the gentleman and he then provided me with the amount that was owed and what the amount was in regards to when i asked him. The gentleman provided me with the date the contract was canceled and the serial number for the equipment that had not been returned. At no point during the call did the gentleman advise me if the call was being monitored or recorded, he didn't verify who he was speaking with and he didn't site the Mini-Miranda. After the gentleman provided me with all the information i asked him if this was a collection agency and he stated that it was. The account is associated with a company but the information wasn't requested during the call to confirm the identity of who the gentleman was speaking with.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
