Filed on : October XX XXXX Filed by : ****** ******* **** ****** ****** **** **** ** XXXXX Filed against : Associates Asset Recovery, LLC ** *** XXXXX ******** ** XXXXX-XXXX Complaint Description: This company chose to tow in excess of 30 cars and chose outrageous fees and unnecessary fees taking advantage of college students. Patriot Place Apartments are located on East Palmetto Street in Florence, SC. They house many student-athletes of Francis Marion University. This towing company is about a mile down the road on the same highway. These college students have been residing here, some of them years. There were never parking requirements. Due to the numerous break ins in the parking lot of the complex, the manager began attempting to enforce parking. There was no deadline given to have the vehicles registered. Last Friday night into early Saturday morning, this company began towing cars of the RESIDENTS that lived there. Each child was told that they had to pay $210.00 to get their car back. Thirty eight cars and $210 a piece...well..you do the math ! When I asked why so much, I was told some of the problem was the "after hour " fee...the towing company intentionally hauled the cars off after hours to earn this extra money. I inquired about why they couldn't tow during business hours and no reason was given. They intentionally, with the help of the apartment manager, took advantage of these young adults that could do absolutely nothing about it. Also, they would not take credit or debit cards...some of us had to pay in cash. Cash cannot be reported nor traced. This was a concern as well. Since this date, they have continued to tow vehicles and they continue to do it after midnight. I attempted to talk with Tony, assuming this is one of the managers, and was chastised for calling his cell phone(it was on his business card ?) This company was completely unprofessional and condescending to the students and the parents. I feel based on these facts that they intentionally took advantage of these young people and they should have to refund every bit of money they took and should have to account for every bit of cash that they took in...

I have to say the ordeal of having my vehicle repossessed was stressful, exhausting, and costly. As I attempted to locate my vehicle I became more aggravated and felt like it was impossible to get any information. I had some personal issues which resulted in falling behind on my payments. My bank was even being difficult. Finally, I was blessed and I was transferred to a young lady who assisted me above and beyond my expectations after dealing with so many rude unhelpful people. If I ever fall behind again, I can only pray my car ends with Associates Asset Recovery in Durham. By the time I contacted their manager in Durham, I was to the point of tears. This young lady stopped everything she was doing, listened to me, and helped me with every step I needed to take to get my car back. Words can not express how angry I was with this company until I was put in contact with their Durham manager. I had been put on hold for hours at a time from my bank and their office in SC. Could not figure out why I even had to call SC, let alone sit on hold forever to become the next call only to suddenly be back to 15 callers ahead of me. The manager in Durham apologized and explained they are very busy and she assured me they did not leave me on hold on purpose. She gave me her cell number so I would have a direct contact, I later found out this is her personal cell phone. She helped me clean my car out and when I was able to get my car back she helped me complete everything and even stayed late so I could pick my car up. I tried several times to go get my car but could not get there before 8pm, this young lady stayed there for me to get my car after hours and I did not even get there until 9:30 at night. I tried to give her money to show her how much I appreciated everything she did for me and she would not even take that. Customer Service in today's fast paced society is on a rapid decline and it is sad. If businesses would display a tiny bit of the excellent customer service skills and genuine concern this young lady displays their business would be represented with the utmost respect and their success would be limitless. Thank you Ms. Missy for everything you did for me and my children. God bless you, you are a wonderful person. I hope I never have to go through this again, but if I do, I hope you are the one who end up with my car. If any of yall get your car taken I hope you have the pleasure of being assisted by this wonderful young lady.
