May 2023 magazine - Modern Manners by M. Buteau
I love her insight and writing except for one thing — addressing people with such words as Honey or Queenie. If one would Google these expressions, the general response is they are condescending and should be considered terms of endearment by a special person. I find it personally irritating and patronizing when people want me to do something and they use honey, baby, sweetheart or whatever to address me rather than using my name or simply madam. In conclusion, I suspect many of us wish we could write as well as she does with such insight and perceptions minus the endearing names, and I look forward to reading her article next month.
ThePhotoStick Omni
Through your Stocking Stuffer Section, today I purchased ThePhotoStick Omni. It said 40% off so the price would be $59.99 + shipping and handling. When I placed the order, it said shipping charge would be $7.77. I completed all credit card information and clicked checkout. It then said order was processed FOR $111.95!
That was not my contract with them. There was no place to cancel the order. I immediately called American Express Blue Cash Card to protest and dispute the order. A dispute has been filed.
Since this item was placed under the aegis of your column of Stocking stuffer items (the first one listed), I thought you should know that this company is not living up to its agreement.

Desired outcome: Warn people that this is what I assume is a "bait and switch." I would appreciate a response from you. Thank you
Window shades
I ordered window shades from Bed Bath & Beyond last October and they were put up in my guest room. The name is "Real Simple cordless cellular 72x64-in shade in sand". They were used less than a dozen times and one side no longer goes up. I have attached a picture showing the max height that each side will rise to. They are beyond the 90-day return policy for Bed Bath & Beyond, but they are still under the manufacturer's warranty for Real Simple. Unfortunately, whenever I contact the company, they refuse to help. One employee told me that they do sell home goods, but they can only help me with the magazine that they also provide. Bed Bath & Beyond keeps giving me their contact information, but nobody helps. I want to be sure that I'm not being scammed into buying a low quality product without the ability to exchange it. They stopped working a few months ago and I haven't been able to get any decent help since. I'm beginning to think that it is impossible to contact them about these issues and that they potentially do it on purpose.
Desired outcome: I would like to be able to exchange the shades under the manufacturer's warranty.

Getting my magazine a month late!
Why do I want Halloween ideas in November or Thanksgiving issue on Dec 9th? I'm sure I'll get Christmas issue in January! Very disappointed in this subscription I purchased through the girl scouts.
I think I should be given an extension on my subscription until you are able to straighten this out! I'll go and see if I can read about Thanksgiving centerpieces without getting mad again!
Desired outcome: Extend my subscription until you straighten this out

Read full review of Real Simple Magazinecharging me for a renewal that I didn't order
I ordered a subscription to Real Simple several months ago and never received the magazine. Now tonight I noted that this company took $38.00 from my checking account without my authorization. When I called I encountered a prerecorded message that stated I was eligible to 2 months of this magazine and a full refund of the $38.00 that they stole from me. Who do they think they are?
A year ago a charge that I never knew about open my PayPal and nine times that charge was just taken out had no idea what it was about as I just got out of the hospital from having major surgery battling cancer basically at the end and still trying to raise my 12-year-old granddaughter so late off of my disability income can't get a phone number nothing to get my money refunded never knew of a reoccurring fee I don't do those things because I know I don't have the funds my eyesight is completely bad had to have my granddaughter Google to even find out what this was about a magazine subscription we don't even read magazines

I sent a letter to Real Simple, telling them that the subscriber, my wife, had died, and to cancel her subscription and send a refund to her estate for any remaining issues in her subscription. I attached the mailing label from the magazine so there should be no doubt who was involved. Weeks later, the magazine was still coming, but suddenly the mailing label was changed to 'her name - Estate'. I called them, but could get only an automated response, but again I requested immediate cancellation. I don't know yet what they have done, but to call their contact information 'Customer Service' is certainly highly questionable. I wonder if I'll ever see the refund, which is still well over a year.
being billed for something I didn't order
I have been charged 30.00 free from TWX for the Magazine Real Simple I have not ordered that Magazine and do not want to be charged for it...I am attempting to reach a real person to talk to but after 7 minutes on hold I have not had luck. I will be contacting my bank, and or Attorney Generals office to lodge a complaint.

The same thing happened to me! I never ordered the magazine but they keep sending it. They just scammed $41 from my bank account and I live on disability! calking my bank tomorrow. I don’t even like the stupid magazine!
renewal without authorization
These fools renewed my subscription and charged my credit card without authorization. It took several phone calls and almost an hour on the phone - with two different individuals - before finally being assured of cancellation and refund. However, I was told that it would take 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS to process the refund. What a bunch of idiots. I have a REAL SIMPLE idea ... let's not purchase or subscribe to REAL SIMPLE magazine. It's all advertisements anyway ...

I subscribed to Real Simple in December 2016. It's November 2017 and I'm still waiting to receive the first copy. I contacted them several time and nothing as been done. Meantime, they were fast to charge my credit card. Real Disappointment!
I ordered a subscription to real simple several months ago and still have not received one issuew. Now I notice they charged me an additional 38.00 on my bank card which I certain ly did not authorize.
The automated recording stated that I am eligible to receive 2 issues of the magazine and receive my 38.00 back...This infuriates me as I already paid for a subscription that I did not receive...We really should do something to these thieves to stop their illegal practices!
Same issue- charging renewal without permission 13 months ahead. I called and stopped it - if I don't get my refund I will stop magazine, contact BBB and Atty General's Office.
I got this charge too. I just called about it. So we will see what happens. I guess I am not the only one this happened to. The transaction said "txw*realsimp" on my checking account. I am not even sure how they got my information. But they charged without my knowledge of $33. I will definitely get another card number if they don't refund my account. They can't charge without my knowledge. We are checking our account all the time for problems. Because no bank is perfect. Computers and people make mistakes. Not a big deal. Just waiting patiently for my money back. Otherwise I can contact my Attorney Generals office.
