I got this watch from Tree Hut Design 2 years ago and I was pretty happy with it at first. I picked the zebrawood one and it looked really cool. But now, after 2 years, about half of the wooden pieces on the strap are breaking. I was bummed out about it, but I remembered that they sent me a few replacement pieces when I first got the watch. So I swapped out the broken pieces with the new ones, but the part that attaches to the closing clip was different. I reached out to Tree Hut Design to see if I could buy just that one piece to fix my watch.

But then they told me that I could either send the watch in for repair for US$50 (I live in Canada, eh) or get a discount on a new watch. I was pretty disappointed to hear that from a company that says they're all about being Earth-Friendly and Sustainable. I mean, come on, either I have to throw away a perfectly good watch or ship it all the way across the continent and back just to replace one little piece that probably only costs a couple bucks and could easily be shipped in a small envelope.

So it's pretty clear to me that they don't really practice what they preach and all that Earth-Friendly stuff is just a bunch of marketing mumbo jumbo. It is very misleading and dishonest on their part. I paid quite a lot of money for the two watches, and to be honest, the metal holding them together seems to be of low quality. Perhaps, this is because watches are not made like they used to? The metal looks like thin plated aluminum and can bend easily, which is not real quality metal. Additionally, I appreciate the idea of using wood products, but the watches are made of used wood, which is extremely light. I'm afraid that it can dry out and break quickly if exposed to water or if worn for an extended period. Unless I get a mostly metal band on the watch, the watches are purely decorative because of the quality.

One of the watches has a glass cover, while the other one doesn't, and this is quite disappointing because I like to keep it on for as long as possible. Also, the pink marble watch had some dents in the wood straight out of the box, which I am not sure is normal. It's kind of also disappointing because I didn't put those dents there.

The sparkle on the watches is probably not even cubic zirconia, and the aluminum-plated setting in the middle looks less quality than that. To my dismay, I received an email back indicating that they needed the order number again and my mailing address. Though, that was not the end of my hassle with this issue. I soon received another email trying to convince me to exchange the watch again, even though they still did not have a smaller size to offer.

Determined to get this resolved, I called customer service a few more times, sent a few more emails, but received no return label. At this point, I decided to pay out of my own pocket to ship the watch back to them instead. The only instruction was that I needed to email them the tracking number so they could process my refund. This was an inconvenience that could have been avoided had they just provided me with a return label in the first place.

In conclusion, my experience with Tree Hut Design was less than satisfactory. Their customer service process is inefficient and customers should not have to go through such a hassle just to return an item. If you decide to do business with them, just be prepared to encounter such issues.
