has anyone purchased a 100% wool rug from the dump? we paid aa bunch for ours and it seems to be falling apart. I get at least 2 handsful of fur everyday. this stuff clogs up my vacuum (upright and handheld) now i'm going over the entire 8x10 area with my hand. after reading return nightmares i'm afraid i'm stuck with it. has anyone had a good experience buying a rug from the dup?

Similar experience in Irving. Incomplete furniture delivered, not even the delivery men could put together, as they missed a part. They took the furniture back. It took The Dump 2 weeks to refund our money, minus restocking and delivery fees, even though they did not have a replacement for the furniture and we did not sign the delivery reception. In short, we ended up with no furniture, but the Dump charged us for the stress and wasted time they caused us. Customer service completely unhelpful. Will never shop there again.

The Dump leather living room set

On July 17, 2009 I bought a 4 piece leather living room set. On Aug 26 2009 I called the Dump's customer service 800 number to ask for a Tech to come and look at the set. The cushions are sagging! Well as of Sept 26th there only "Tech" has been in a car accident! Finally they hire a new service & a Tech comes out & takes pictures of the set and agrees that it does not have enough stuffing. He tells me that I will hear from them in about a week. It is now Oct 30th and after leaving many messages with the Supervisors I speak to a customer service rep and I am told that they spoke to the manufacturer and my set was sold as a "close out" and nothing can be done about it! I tell her that this was not noted on my receipt or told to me. Her response is "sorry" I can put you into voice mail for the supervisor & I can leave a message again. I said I am still waiting for her to call me back from the last 2 messages I left! I ask can I have the number for the manufacture and told no. So as of now I am at a loss! I would NEVER NEVER buy from them again!
Please tell everyone not to beware of what they are buying from them. I am now going to call the TV news station to let them tell the consumers to Beware!

The Dump defective bed

We purchased a very expensive mattress ($2, 500.00 for just the mattress) from The Dump Furniture Store in Irving, Texas. The floor model was very comfortable, just what we were looking for. The mattress they delivered was completely different, sagged badly on every edge and in the middle, and would not even fit normally in a king size bed frame. We could live with the bed frame issue, but the sagging made the bed so uncomfortable it was not worth even trying to sleep on it. It soon became obvious that this bed was a "second", internally damaged or a "dud" the manufacturer had probably sold for cents on the dollar to The Dump (which is probably where most of their merchandise comes from). We complained, they stalled around for weeks, saying "they were waiting to hear from the manufacturer", and then they told us they could (would) not do anything about it and besides there fine print on the back said "all sales final". Don't ever buy anything from these crooks!

Thank you to the 3 of you for saving me before this as me.
I saw the ad tonight on TV and was thinking we should go look at beds because we have been in the market for a tempur pedic, and it seemed like maybe a good deal.
After the first story, the deal says off, and after reading all 3 of your stories, we will never shop there. Don't need the Hasell for an expensive place that passes themselves off as discount.

I went to the dump in Irving on Saturday, memorial day weekend picked out a I able and went to the beds to pick out a bed. Albert, the sales guy came back time and time again we laid on the mattresses to find a fit. We eventually check out, Albert gave Tim, our original sales guy the hardest time for being new. As we checked out john comes out of nowhere to say he and Albert teamed up cause Albert owes him one. I pay for Delivery set for Wednesday. well through all the hassle and rude Salesman peeping over the office window as we checked out, they didn't give us me my mattress cover. I was told they would ship it out because it couldn't be brought on delivery. We decided to go back and cancel delivery while there. This is where the true problem rise.

They bring out the first bed, it has a red stain on the back, I deny it because I didn't want a problem with warranty. They brought out another mattress this time it has two bugs on it. One of the guys from the warehouse laughs as another was disgruntled about me checking the bed. Now after going for the manager and requesting a refund the operation manager oz wanted us to try their third and final bed, made by restonic. As they pull that bed the Bed manager nick calls us in wanting me to pick another bed from that same company. Their internal communication is off they were pulling us back and forth. we go out. Inspect the final bed and low and behold it to has a bug. No one ever apologized for our wasted time or the fact we no longer had a bed. I was told I can pick another Bed at no additional charge. Then the hand off game began, including witnessing Albert and john, the team salesman, fight over who would assist me now. Nick offered a bed up to 300 more and crazily wants me to go half for anything higher. Never apologized. Now I'm without a bed, oz never came back to address me even after I called for him. I've shopped here before but never again. Beware bugs I've been told is almost normal here and no warranty is given if bugs are present. I was told customers complain of bed bugs on the regular. The dumps attitude was horrible and sales guy fight for you then pass you off when a problem arise. Never again will I buy from there!

Buyers beware! If you buy any bedframe here look for gaps! This is a note we sent to the better business bureau and we’re going to take them to small claims court – this is out of principal, you don’t treat a customer who spent nearly 10 grand in your store, this is not how you build good customer report and keep them coming back. I will say, Darren is a good sales rep but unfortunately he works for an unethical company. The manager of that store needs a lesson in customer service 101, he said in his 30 years he’s never had customer complain about a 1 foot gap on their bed, well, we are, so what’s your point? I can’t sleep at night w/out my pillow (s) falling through the head board and worrying my 6 lb. dog will break a leg. What happened to listening to your customer, working with them to keep them coming back? We would have exchanged it for another frame but now we’re so disappointed we’ll NEVER do business with them again.
Dear Better Business Bureau:

My husband and I purchased a bedroom suite from The Dump.

The policy on returns is very clear. After delivery you can return your furniture for any reason, but you must pay a restocking fee.

Upon delivery we noted a design flaw that was covered by bedding at the show room floor.

With no bedding it is evident that there is an unacceptable gap between the headboard and the mattress. The gap is so large the pillow fall through and to the floor while sleeping and it is my understanding that is the purpose of a headboard outside of looking good.

We immediately informed the installation team and have a receipt that the gap was unacceptable.

They informed us to call customer service immediately.

We were asked to measure the gap which we did on top of letting them know that we would like to return it. They said give us some time to remedy the situation. We also went down to The Dump in Person to express our frustration, and inform them that we would like them to either fix the gap or return the furniture. The finally sent a tech to look at the furniture. Due to the manner the sideboard assemble to the head and foot-board the problem could not be fixed leaving us only one solution, exchange the furniture.

We called customer service, and they informed us that we could not exchange it.

The bottom line is:

1. we informed The Dump per the agreement between us and them that we would like them to fix the problem or return it within 7 days.
2. They delayed beyond our 7 day window and told us it they could not fix the issue we could still return it.
3. They could not remedy the situation and now have not lived up to their agreement.

We have an acceptance of delivery that is signed my us and a representative of the dump with a note that the GAP is unacceptable. Which means we would not accept it without a remedy which never happened.

My cynical mind believes this is a ploy they utilize to give the appearance of living up to the terms and conditions of their agreement and reduce the amount of legitimate returns of poorly designed or defective furniture.

This is certainly not in the spirit of doing business properly and is a disgraceful way to treat a customer.

We would have worked with them and exchanged the bedframe for a frame that functions but now we’d like our money back.

Dealing with the Dump has been nothing but a nightmare. This is my 2nd complaint with the BBB. I first contacted the Dump customer service about my mattress in January of 2010, only to be given the run around by the customer service department. I wrote letters and issued a complaint to the BBB and finally the store manager said we could exchange the less than a year old defective mattress for a new one. Well they only said that to shut us up and to get rid of the complaint with the BBB. The king size mattress has indentations(its sinking on the right and left side and the middle is as good as new) as to where me and my husband sleep and squeaks really loud when you get in and out of bed. You feel springs poking at you in your sleep. I have horrible back pain from this mattress and have been going to a chiropractor over it. When we purchased the mattress there was a 10 or 15 year warranty on the mattress. The bedding manager Beau, gave a hard time and showed us some other mattress that was not ours. He said well its the model number on the receipt. I said well that is not our mattress at all. I then had to go all the way back home, take pictures of the mattress and bring them back to show him. This store is nothing but a SCAM. We were then told by sales person Brad that he would order us a new mattress and he would call when it came in.. Well 3 weeks went by no one called. So I called them and they told me it was in and the deal was we had to transport our old mattress back and they would give us a new one. Well the joke was on us. My husband loaded the old one on top of the car and brought it all the way there and then they told him that there was dirt and urine stains on it? I never knew either of us to pee the bed and the dirt was the size of a dime and it was from loading it on the car. So they were going to try to re sale it this defective mattress. A used mattress being returned to the manufacture due to it being defective should not matter if it had a speck of dirt on it. The dirt occurred from the transportation from our house to the store. This store is horrible and sells used mattresses. Our mattress was probably used it makes me think. They have greatly inconvenienced my husband and I and now we are stuck with a horrible mattress to sleep on and basically threw 999.00 out the window.

The Dump horrible customer service, dishonest sales tactics

My wife and I were decieved and ripped off by the dump store location in irving texas. We purchased an expensive mattress. The company's third party delivery people refused to set up and tak apart pour old mattress and bed frame.in return, we refuse delivery, they stoick us with almost $1000.00 in restocking fees for a mattress set we don't have. I purchased a leather loveseat, chair and ottoman on Oct.29, 2010. This was delivered on Nov.1, 2010. We sat on the new furniture for about a week and called in complaint that the seats were unacceptable. A man came out on Nov.13, 2010...took photos of the cushions and felt inside . He told my husband and myself they were bad and he would be filing his report with you on Mon., Nov.15, 2010. On Monday or Tuseday afternoon someone from the customer service office called me and said something just the opposite. I tried to explain just what the US Quality rep told me but to no avail. I insist your company pick up the furniture. We do not have that amount of money to spend on damaged furniture. We were not told that your company sold irregular merchandise. The product is bad and we will not pay our hard earned money on damaged goods. I am handicaped and my husband has had to start over on a new job. Will someone call me?

The Dump mattress claim

My husband and I purchased a mattress and boxspring set from The Dump in 2005. The set came with a full 20 year warranty. In 2007 we began to experience problems with the mattress. We filed a claim in 2007 theu Haynes Furniture which handled all of the claims and after 6 months we were told that The Dump now handled all of their claims so we would need to re-file our claim. By then it was February 2008 at which time we re-filed the claim as instructed. We sent in pictures, forms, etc as asked to. Well it is now October 2009. We are still dealing with this claim. Every time we call there is another excuse as to why they are still processing the claim! Terrible customer service! A true waste of money!

The Dump poor customer service

My wife and I have had a claim for the past 3 months on a mattress set that we purchased from the Dump. Just a few days after our purchase the mattress formed a dip that has been increasingly getting deeper and deeper. We jump through all the hoops that the Dump requested (taking pictures, filling out forms, calling customer service, etc.) and we still have yet to get any help on this issue. We paid $1, 300 for a useless mattress and foundation and the Dump is not helping, in fact today the Dump suggested that we the customer call the manufacture, how is that for poor customer service.

The Dump bait and switch

The Dump Furniture store is obviously using the "bait and switch" routine for much of their furniture. They show you the top of the line with the floor model and then they deliver you "seconds". Beware; If you go to this store and buy something, leave the store with it and do not let them deliver anything or they will likely deliver something entirely different than you paid for and if you return it they will try to charge outrageous restocking fees.

Recently went to the Dump due to an advertisement on the TV about a huge mattress sale and free adjustable frames. None of this was true. They wrote the book on "Bait and Switch". Do not frequent this store it is a rip-off and their advertisements are full of lies.

I have bought 2 living room sets, one from Ashley Furniture and it was leather. They delivered it and it was damaged goods, but didn't notice it for a few days, you could see where the leather was damaged and they repaired it, after carefullly looking it over, you could see scratched all over the set and they covered them with paint. I made them take it back.
Then I bought a 3 piece set from Mega Furniture on 28th Dr. Well it was guaranteed 100% leather and guess what, it was not, after my cats started walking on it you could see it was just plastic, it was more like Saran Wrap, I made them take this back to, not without a fight with either of these companies. #1 I put it on payments with the company and told them I would not pay, so they had to take it back, plus reporting them both to the BBB of Arizona. Ashley Furniture was the most uncomfortable furniture you ever sit on, if you were overweight, you would have a problem. They make lousy furniture. Mega furniture, I had to stop payment on my credit card, and that did the trick plus reporting them to the BBB which they just ignored, you have to hit these people where the money is before they will do anything. All crooks.

The Dump refuse to replace defective furniture

We purchased a entertainment/sofa sectional from The Dump on 5/17/09 We began having problems 2 weeks after purchase. They sent a repair person who repaired that section. Less than 1 week 2 other sections broke. The repairman they sent said it was a defective and he would notify customer service who would contact us as to the next step. After several days and no response I called them only to be told the manufacturer of the Furniture would have to be contacted and they would have to decide what to do. We've called every day for over a month with no reply. We are out $2, 000 and have no furniture to sit on. We also were not informed of the return policy at the time of purchase.

I am currently having the same problem with a dresser purchased from The Dump (for $300+). It was delivered with visible scratches and gouges on the front and the delivery people even left off one of the knobs used to pull the drawers out. I reported this to customer (dis)service and made it clear to them that I wanted a new one. They said it would not be a problem, but that they would first send a technician out to take a picture of the damage (presumably to verify that there were indeed scratches on it). A week after the technician came, customer service contacted me and told me that since the dresser was "repairable", the technician was "required by procedure" to repair it - something quite different from what I had previously been told. I called the store, spoke to the manager, and had it out with him for fifteen minutes. He was all the while hiding behind his little defense line "I cannot violate company policy just because a customer is dissatisfied." Um, not only am I "dissatisfied"; I have a piece of [censor] furniture in my bedroom. And who are they trying to satisfy? Themselves, obviously. I told this [censor] (Mike Nelson) that I wanted the problem resolved my way - not his, but mine - and that I wanted an answer by today - a full week later. Still waiting. Oh, and I also purchased a nightstand for $130, which they said was on backorder and should be available for me to pick up in two weeks. This was on May 15 and I have not so much as heard one word about it (it is now June 25). Doesn't their slogan go something like "You'll never pay full price for furniture again"? Well, I guess now we know why. We're paying for incompetence and a complete lack of concern for the well-being of the customers. One might speculate that this is how they are able to be open only three nights a week and remain in business. My advice to everybody who reads this is DO NOT SHOP HERE! SPREAD THE WORD. THE DUMP HAS ITS NAME FOR TWO REASONS - IT IS A DUMP AND IT TAKES A DUMP ON ITS CUSTOMERS.

The sofa we bought in March was only 4 months old before it cracked and broke. After several attempts at getting a technician out, he took pictures and never bothered to call us back or repair the damage. To top it all off, The Dump will not honor our fabric protection warranty we paid for. The Dump is the LAST place we will ever shop again!

The Dump - deceptive sales/horrible cust service

Purchased $9, 900 in "designer" living room furniture. No, I am not WEALTHY...I saved for it. The sales rep NEVER mentioned all of the legal mumbo jumbo on the back of the sales receipt. She told me I was initialling for my delivery. When they arrived to deliver my furniture, they measured my door and refused to take the items off the truck stating the door...

The Dump product damage and poor customer service

Dining room pedstal was delivered damaged in Mid March and the store has not repaired, replaced nor refunded my money. Mind you this was a $3, 500 purchase. It is now the end of May and customer sevice has only been an obstacle in any resolution. Their approach to customer service is "BUYER BEWARE". I strongly recommend you to do not purchase any items from their store as they don't stand behind the product.

THEY JUST OPENED THE DUMP HERE IN TEMPE. THEL MANAGER DAN FROM THE DALLAS STORE THINKS HE IS GOD DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE, DOESN'T LISTEN TO ANYONE! WE WERE BUYING 10, 000.00
OR MORE FROM THE ONLY HONEST REP IN THE STORE ON SUNDAY, THE VERY FIRST DAY THEY OPENED. THEY REFERRED TO IT AS A "SOFT OPEN" . THE REP HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TOP PRODUCER AND VENDOR OF THE YEAR. WE SPECIFIED A LOT OF HER PRODUCTS THAT SHE REP. 10 YEARS AGO. ANYWAY OUR DESIGN FIRM FOUND OUT THAT SHE JUST MOVED BACK FROM MAUI AND STARTED WORKING FOR THE NEW TEMPE STORE, "THE DUMP" . SHE ASKED DAN 1 SIMPLE QUESTION AND HE STARTED CALLING HER NAMES AND YELLING AT HER IN FRONT US AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THE STORE. WE BACKED AWY FROM THE ORDER BOUGHT ONLY 2500.00 FROM HER SO SHE WOULD AT LEAST EARN A SMALL COMMISSION AND TOLD HER TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THEIR!

The Sales people at Oaks PA are completely deceptive. I have contacted the PA attorneys generals office. The customer service people are improperly trained robtrons. The name says it all; it is a DUMP. Why hasn't the Attorney General's Office dealt with the DECEPTIVE SALES PRACTICES, Lying Commercials, defective products and ridiculous customer service telemarketing team. Ned Scherer is the owner of this DUMP and he's hiding out in Virginia. LOSER... I'm going to file suit against you and your pathetic Carolina Furniture Company.

The Dump rug

The wrong rug was delivered. Customer service person - name Gabby. No matter what she stated that it was my fault. First she said I should have hand delivered the rug back. Next she said I should have kept it and given them 30 days to get the problem fixed. She said a restocking fee would be charged to me because I refused delivery and sent it back. Why would I keep the wrong product. I spoke to another woman the day it was delivered she said it was not the wrong rug. She asked me to read her the numbers from tag. She said the numbers were right. The salesperson may have written down the wrong numbers, they may have sold the rug by mistake and put these tickets on a similar rug, I know that it was the wrong rug. I took a picture of it on my cell phone the original rug. I do not want to pay restocking fees that they are charging for the rug.

Buyer beware we purchased a $1600.00 couch and the middle section is not right! called for service and we were told it was purchased as is no warranty!
we spent almost $5000.00 on furniture and it's as is what a scam!

The Dump has delivered three dressers to my residence and everyone of them (taken right out of box) are broken. Pick up third broken dresser and refund my financing company.

Well I was heading over to the dump Fri when they opened again to buy this $2500 sectional that I had my eye on but after seeing they have such horrible customer service I am really second guessing giving them the business. I am really at a loss some of the stories I just read on Yelp and some of the other review websites. Stories with the delivery drivers damaging goods upon delivery and then refering to customer service who give them the run around...I think ill just go over to Raymour and Flannigan or something. Thanks for the heads up people!

The person who commented saying that it must have been the lighting that confused the complainant and that they "guarantee no one was trying to "scam" the fella" and that switching the tags is "laughable, " suggests to me that you are in a defensive mode for "The Dump" and I feel that you didn't have near enough information to comment in such a way. The complainant didn't specify if it was the coloring, or the pattern, or the size -- yet, you "guarantee" that it wasn't their fault. And you suggest broadly that anyone who wants to be sure this doesn't happen to them should carry it away themselves. Now, I am 5/3" and my husband 5'10". The two of us can't carry a large rolled up rug from one room to the other (too heavy, too long, for two people.

This respondent's lack of being able to "get" that shows a serious lack of intelligence or a serious amount of defensiveness. This response by "The Dump" is non-defensible. They have lost him as a customer, me, and I presume anyone reading this would heed the warning. I am grateful to the complainant for highlighting what can go wrong when buying rugs and having them delivered. And the respondent has given me further warning about the sense of color changes to where I would only deal with a company that has customer-friendly policies regarding this problem for the customer.

I can tell you exactly what happened here - it's not that uncommon - but all decent handmade wools have a "light side" and a "dark side" to them - This has to do with the nap of the wool - You're either seeing the tops of the wool pieces or the sides - Anyway, 1 direction is usually VERY different from the other, depending on wool quality, wash(es) applied to the rug, etc.

The other big thing folks forget is that a rug looks very different when you're standing up right next to the rug (as it hangs on a rug rack) as opposed to standing over/on a rug (the way it looks on the floor).

Also, the lighting in the retail space is always going to be different than the lighting in your home - and it matters.

Whether you realize it or not, you are being influenced by everything in a retail showroom, by every color in the showroom.

I guarantee that noone was trying to "scam" the fella above - His mind just remembered a certain rug with certain colors - And when it arrived, it looked different. I guarantee you that was the case.

Noone is going to switch the tags - That's laughable - or try to scam this guy into taking another rug or go through all this just to get the re-stocking fee out of him...Does that make sense?

The answer is any case like this is just to have them roll or fold (like a blanket - won't hurt the rug) the rug you want on the spot and load it into your car/trunk..Then it's all done and you're not paying for a delivery.

Thanks for sharing. I was going to check them out this weekend as I want new rugs. After reading about all these outlandish restocking fees even when the screwup is the stores, I will not waste my time going to the dump.
