I purchased a pair of Asics Tokyo sky trainers, I bought them from Sports Direct online as a trusted business. These were purchased on Sat 20th Sept, these were delivered on the 22nd Sept. being they were new and needed to be run in, I left them boxed on the kitchen side until I had a short distance run in mind and the weather was nice so I wouldn't get them dirty.
So the day arrived and on the first mile of running the left trainer was rubbing the arch of my foot, which was strange as I'd never had this problem before. I could feel the edge of the carbon plate and after mile two I had start walking as the pain had gotten worse. Two miles, and 20 mins apart from walking back to my car feeling bad as I watched my partner run on ahead of me.
I sent them back to customer services who paid for the return. after a couple of weeks I have had a response saying that the trainers are being returned to me with the statement.. 'It appears the product is worn out, no manufacture fault found.'
I replied asking what was meant by worn out,
The reply was ' As the return request has been rejected, you're welcome to either keep the item or dispose of it at your convenience.'
they are brand new... why would i just throw away a £200 pair of running shoes.
I asked what was meant by worn out as they are brand new.
Reply was
'When we refer to an item being worn out, we mean that it shows signs of significant use or damage that has occurred over time.'
which has answered the question, they are damaged and I'm sure Asics will consider 2 miles of wear not excessive as their trainers are designed to last 200 miles.
there is no wear on the bottoms or anywhere on the trainers.
Desired outcome: refund
