To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Denise Barrow, and I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my experience on Southwest Airlines Flight associated with confirmation number AR16G8 on September 7, 2026, from Houston Airport to Ontario, California. Seat numbers
During the approximately three-hour flight, I was unable to use the full width of my assigned seat because the adjacent seating arrangement substantially reduced my available space. As a result, I was required to sit in an uncomfortable and unnatural position for the duration of the flight.
I believe Southwest should have taken appropriate steps to ensure that both passengers had adequate seating accommodations and could use their assigned seats without significantly affecting one another. I respectfully request that Southwest review how this situation was handled and explain the procedures that apply when a passenger cannot be accommodated within the available seating space without encroaching on an adjacent passenger’s seat.
Following the flight, I experienced severe lower-back pain that made it difficult to walk. My occupation requires me to stand throughout the day while performing mammograms, and the resulting discomfort interfered with my ability to carry out my normal work responsibilities.
Although I paid for a full seat, I was unable to use the full seating space throughout the flight. This caused significant physical discomfort during the journey and continued pain afterward.
I respectfully request that Southwest formally investigate this matter and advise me what compensation or other resolution may be available. I would also appreciate information about the steps Southwest can take to prevent similar seating issues in the future.
Please provide a written response addressing my concerns, explaining the applicable procedures, and outlining the resolution Southwest is prepared to offer.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Denise Barrow

Recently had a similar situation where I was seated in the center seat with no room to move, use either arm rest or even adjust my body slightly for the duration of the flight.
My situation was a direct result of Southwest airlines notifying me during my previous flight that they were removing me from my next flight, expecting me to spend the night, then take a different flight the next morning.
Once I was off the first flight, I told them I would not spend the night and they needed to put me back on my original flight. Somehow they gave my seat (that I picked when I paid for my flights being all window seats) to another passenger.
I ended up with no window seat, no room to move and no partial refund of the extra money a passenger spends when they chose a window seat on Southwest.
