Your drop spreader plugs up when used as directed because applications for weed and feed require the grass to be damp so the w&f can stick to the leaves. To keep the ports from plugging up you have to mow the grass extremely low which is not ideal because it adds additional stress to the grass. The wheels need to be larger, so the point of drop is higher which keeps the wet grass from contacting the drop bar. My grass would have to be cut to two inches to prevent clogging. It would be nice if the engineers that designed the product would actually use it to see in doesnt work

You nailed it — it’s a textbook case of “designed on paper, never tested in the field.” That spreader clearly wasn’t built with real-world conditions in mind. Until they pull their heads out and redesign it, you're better off modifying the drop height yourself or switching to a broadcast spreader that doesn’t choke when the grass has morning dew.
