I have tried to contact customer service by phone and email but was unable to connect. The phone just said the number was not attainable and the email was returned as I was not cleared to send it!
Dear sir or madam.
I was in the Kidbrooke Sainsbury store today and had an experience I would like to share with you.
I wanted to buy some white wine. I saw a sign on a shelf (see below), that was confusing to me. I wasn’t sure which products this sign referred to so I asked three different store employees if this was valid for the Oyster Bay wine. Each one said that it was.
When I took it to the check out, I was charged the full amount - £25. When I questioned the amount, the manager was called.
I showed Will, the manager, the sign and he lifted up the left edge and pointed to a shelf label under this larger sign. He said that it was these smaller bottles that were the subject of the offer. I replied that this was very ambiguous and relied on the customer interfering with shelf labels, something I would never do.
He refused to honour the labelling.
I tried to call your office at [protected], but was unable to connect.
While I am disappointed in this misunderstanding, I do not wish to lay the blame on anyone, just bring it to your attention in the hopes that better communication would be achieved in the future. And, of course, I am disappointed not to have been able to take advantage of that great offer!
Sincerely,
Josephine
Desired outcome: To train staff to place advertising in appropriate place so that it cannot be misconstrued. A customer shouldn’t have to ask several different employees to interpret the sign.
