Safeway review: bad gas reward practice/cust svc ( 1 comment)

The Safeway Ad ran advertising spend $75 and get 30 cents savings per gallon for fuel purchase (of course there are exceptions) so, I a mother of 2 (single) with a strick budget, decided to shop at Safeway and save the money on my gas so that I could feed my family and be able to purchase gas to last until my next pay day. I let the cashier know that my goal was $75 to meet the requirements for the fuel discount. My groceries can to a little over $77 dollars. I paid, then was given my receipt and told after the fact that I missed the $75 goal, due to the milk I purchased for my children not counting towards the $75. She didn't give me the information priior to cashing me out, I could have bought a couple treats for my 5 year old and made the 30 cent discount. But no, instead I basically received a 'So sorry, you didn't make it' attitude. I wrote Safeway, and got the same attitude email back...you were a dollor short so you were not eligible for the discount. So, customer service has gone to the dogs at Safeway, and the single struggling mom trying to provide for her children takes it in the shorts. Talked to relatives who will now, stop shopping at Safeway...and pass on the "Boycott Safeway" information. BOYCOTT SAFEWAY, THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT PROVIDING HONEST SERVICE FOR MY HONESTLY EARNED MILITARY PAY CHECK...SO BE IT. BOYCOTT SAFEWAY!
