Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Late Deliveries and Loss of USB Sticks and Wallets to Blind Listeners
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing on behalf of the Redditch and Bromsgrove Talking Newspaper to raise a formal complaint regarding repeated late deliveries of our weekly USB memory sticks to our blind and visually impaired listeners.
As you will know, Talking Newspapers rely heavily on the postal service to ensure that blind and partially sighted people receive timely access to local news and community information. Over recent weeks, a significant number of our listeners have reported that their USB sticks have been arriving several days late, or not arriving until the following week and even worse, not arriving at all. This completely undermines the purpose of the service, which is to provide current and reliable access to local news for those who cannot read printed material.
These delays have caused considerable distress and frustration among our listeners, many of whom depend on our recordings as their only source of accessible local information. We post all USB sticks promptly and consistently on the same day each week, and in the past Royal Mail’s service has been reliable. The current pattern of delays, however, represents a clear decline in the First Class service you advertise under your Articles for the Blind.
The problem also manifests itself in the reverse, with listeners returned sticks not arriving back with us, therfore incurring cost to us of replacing.
We respectfully request that Royal Mail investigate:
1. The cause of the repeated delays affecting deliveries in the Redditch and Bromsgrove areas;
2. What corrective steps will be taken to restore a dependable service;
3. How Royal Mail intends to prevent further disruption to mail specifically addressed to blind and visually impaired recipients.
As a volunteer-run charity service, we rely entirely on Royal Mail for timely delivery. We therefore ask for a prompt written response, along with confirmation of any actions or improvements planned.
4. Reimbursement of the costs.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to your swift response.
Yours faithfully,
Hedley Brook-Carter
