I've been a fan of Portillo's for a while now. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is pretty good. However, my last visit to the cafe left me feeling quite disappointed. I came in with my child for lunch and we ordered two salads and a pizza. When our salads arrived, we started eating and I was the first to find a hair in my salad. It was so gross that I almost threw up. I immediately took it back to the bar and explained what happened to the staff. They took the plate away with a disgruntled face and came back with a new one. My child then started eating his salad and guess what? He found a white hair in his salad too! I had to return it as well. The only thing we paid for was our drinks, which they took away. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be visiting this place again. It's a shame because I used to really enjoy it.

I just had an experience with Portillo's that left me feeling pretty frustrated. I decided to order some food from their website, and I went with chicken fingers, a garden salad, and a beef and sausage combo with peppers. Of course, I had to get extra ranch on the side - I can't resist that stuff! I placed my order at around 4:10 in the afternoon, and I was told that it would be delivered by 4:30.

Well, 4:30 came and went, and my food was nowhere to be seen. I decided to call the store and speak with the manager, Patrick. He told me that my order was waiting for the DoorDash driver, but he couldn't give me any idea of when it would be delivered. I waited a little longer, but by 4:45, I was getting pretty antsy.

That's when I decided to call guest services. The person I spoke with told me that my order had been picked up, and she even gave me the driver's phone number. I called the driver, and he told me that he was still waiting for my order to be filled. By this point, I was starting to get pretty frustrated.

Finally, at around 5:35, my food was delivered. That's over an hour after I placed my order! I understand that things can get busy, but this was just ridiculous. If you're thinking about ordering from the Oak Lawn store, I would definitely think twice. It's not worth the hassle and frustration.

I gotta say, I've heard a lot of buzz about Portillo's and how it's always packed, so I finally decided to give it a try. When we pulled up, the parking lot was jam-packed and there were people everywhere waiting for their food. We were a bit worried about how long it would take, but we were hopeful that it would be worth it.

The ordering process was pretty straightforward - you order at one counter and then pick up your food at another. As you walk down the "hall" or "tunnel" as they call it, you can see all the food being made on a big assembly line. It looked like there were plenty of staff working hard to put together orders, so we thought it wouldn't take too long.

But boy were we wrong. Once we got to the pick-up area, we realized that we were in for a long wait. There were tons of people waiting for their food, and we hadn't heard anyone calling out orders over a loudspeaker until that point. Suddenly, someone got on the loudspeaker and started calling out orders in a really annoying way. They would call out the order number and then say something like "Your time to dine" or "No more wait". It was kind of funny at first, but it quickly became really irritating. My boyfriend even said "this is crazy".

We waited and waited for what felt like forever. At one point, there were so many people waiting that the woman on the loudspeaker started yelling at everyone to clear the tunnel. But there was nowhere for us to go - we were already packed in like sardines in front of the counter and halfway to the door!

Finally, we got our food and started looking for a place to sit. But there were no tables available, so we had to stand around and wait for someone to leave. By the time we finally got a table, our food was cold. We had burgers, which were pretty good considering they had been sitting out for a while.

Overall, I think the experience would have been a lot better if it weren't for the annoying loudspeaker and the long wait. It was so loud that we couldn't even hear each other talk while we were eating. My boyfriend and I were both pretty disappointed, and we heard other people around us saying the same things - "this is crazy", "never again", "if she says that one more time...".

I'm still not sure why this place is always so packed, but I guess some people like that kind of craziness. If you're looking for a unique experience and don't mind waiting a long time for your food, then maybe give Portillo's a try. But if you're like me and just want to enjoy a good meal without all the chaos, then I'd say it's probably not worth it.
