A recent purchase and then delivery from Japan was hitch free, that is, until it reached UK and into the clutches of Parcelforce.
I paid the duty and vat owning on the Royal Mail / Parcelforce pay a fee section of their website, but being as a bank holiday was coming up I was given the first available date for delivery was 4 days forward.
There was no option to collect the parcel myself, so I paid my dues and resigned myself to waiting.
Later in the day I thought to myself, this is crazy, and after repeated failed phone calls trying to contact Parcelforce Bodmin I decided to get in my car, brave the weather and holiday traffic, and set out on the hour plus drive to Bodmin Parcelforce.
I needn't have bothered. When I got there I was told I couldn't have the parcel because it was booked for delivery. Despite having all the correct documentation, and being there in person, I was refused access to my parcel because it was company policy. When I tried to explain that I was given no option but to ok their delivery date, and none for me to actually pick up my parcel, I was basically just given a shrug of the shoulders and a blank stare.
So much for the efficiency of the internet and AI controlled companies today, any chance of just using a bit of humanity and commonsense is dead in the water before you start.
I just have to keep my fingers crossed now that they actually deliver it, and it doesn't get damaged or go walkabouts.
Recommendation: Use Parcelforce at your peril..
