Outback Steakhouse - The whole experience

On 2/23/19 two friends and myself entered the restaurant and were seated shortly thereafter. We were given menus... That was the first thing... It was about 1 pm. As I scanned the menu I noticed I could not find their combo lunch listed anywhere on it so I asked the waiter why I did not find it. He stated, "oh, you want the lunch menu? (give me a break it is lunchtime!) so I said yes, since it is lunch time. He comes back with the menu and I and my friends order the combo lunch that was listed @ $10.49, mine was a soup and hamburger. My clam chowder came and then my hamburger, the hamburger was missing 2 ingredients the onion and mayo. Ok so not a big deal I am thinking so I just ate it the way it was. The bill comes and I notice an extra charge beneath the $10.49 price of the meal and asked the waiter what that was for. He tells me that I ordered a premium soup so that would cost extra. I disputed that and he called for the manager. I asked the manager why I had to pay the additional cost and I showed her the place on the menu I ordered from. Her response was the same so I said why doesn't it show on the menu that fact? She opened the menu and pointed to the bottom of the section where it stated premium soups cost more! Ok so why would I read any further seeing what I want to order there is no reason I would continue to read the menu. I stated,"why is there no asterisk (a small star) next to the item I ordered that would show me to continue reading down the page so I would notice there is an extra charge for their clam chowder or as they put it their premium soup?"the manager flipped the page and pointed to the soup menu and it was similarly posted there. So trying to order a combo lunch was like going on a treasure hunt with the lunch menu. Needless to say I was disgusted with the way business is done here, I felt taken advantage of and totally manipulated. First, we get the dinner menu which doesn't show lunch combos, then my hamburger came wrongly made, then I am told I need to fork up extra for the soup I ordered... This was not a good experience! So, I said,"fine, charge me the extra here is my credit card but I will never return here again! So, she decides to take the extra charge off the bill... I said, no just charge me, there is no way I will ever return here anyway (I was thinking of the other problems I had as listed above and felt I would not be dealing with this if I went around the corner to the 99's restaurant) it wasn't the extra cost that bothered me it was the manipulation beginning with getting the dinner menu instead of the lunch menu and all that followed. So no one in the restaurant got a lunch menu at 1 pm in the afternoon and no one realised there was even a lunch menu to begin with! Anyway, I paid the bill and she took off the extra charge and my friends paid their bill. When we got outside my friend looked again at her bill and noticed they never deducted the aarp discount. Just another thorn in my side! I will never go there again... Sick of the manipulations that go on there and will tell everyone I know how outraged I was at having to waste my time dealing with it and my friends will spread the word in the senior center she attends and around town.
