We purchased a BRAND NEW MANUFACTURED HOME SEPT 2023. From day one the HVAC system did not work. I emailed Nortek with my our issues with our BRAND NEW UNIT...they referred me to the installer of the unit...the installer of our unit has moved to another State and is in the process of changing his phone number because he wants nothing to do with Nortek HVAC...

Nordyne The A/C unit has only been in service 4 seasons

The A/C unit has only been in service 4 seasons. It no longer cools. We called as were told that it is no longer warranted. Pretty sad considering most A/c units have a 10 year or better warranted. This tells me they know the product is faulty and by the number of complaints they don't seem to care. We live on a fixed income. Apparently the compressor is faulty. It is supposed to be covered but this company is refusing to do so.

Nordyne I purchased two fairly expensive Maytag air conditioners about eight years ago

I purchased two fairly expensive Maytag air conditioners about eight years ago. We have had problems with the evaporator coils for the past two years. The installers will replace the coils since they are under warranty, but advised me that the replacement coils will be the same ones that the company installed in the first place and that they have had numerous complaints about, AND the company (Nordyne) will charge me $500 for honoring the warrantee.

Nordyne We installed replacement evaporator coils for our Maytag air conditioner unit on May 15

We installed replacement evaporator coils for our Maytag air conditioner unit on May 15. The old coils, made by Nortek were under warranty but the cost of installation was $1,500. On May 29 the new evaporator coils that were replaced under the warranty failed. A large leak was discovered. I know that Nortek had many problems with its evaporator coils in the past but was assured that these problems were corrected before we requested the replacement. Because the replacement coil also failed, we had to install a new coil made by Trane at another cost of $1,500

Nordyne I have a Nordyne furnace which had the plastic drain pan melt within a month or so of the 5 year warranty expiring

I have a Nordyne furnace which had the plastic drain pan melt within a month or so of the 5 year warranty expiring. After doing some research, I see this problem has occurred before (complaint around the 4 timeframe). This caused a terrible smell in the house of burning plastic which is not safe to breath. This should be prevented by the Temp Over Limit switch, but wasn't. As an engineer, this is obviously a bad design with out consideration of the limit switch failing in the open position, as well as a way to save a dollar (probably a couple, but what's a little breath of plastic PCBs). This needs to be changed before a fire is started in somebody's home.

Nordyne Complaint is regarding my NuTone HVAC unit installed in 9

Complaint is regarding my NuTone HVAC unit installed in 9. The system has been problematic since installed, and I am now replacing the coil for the 4th time - Nortek has that information and the serial numbers in their records. Although the system has a warranty, which will expire in 9, the coils which have had to be placed on average every 2 years do not. I have already spent 4 times what it cost for the unit and initial installation on coils and other parts, leaks, and service. Even with the coil being covered, the shipping of the coil, installations by tech, and many of the other parts and services performed have not been covered. The system is a lemon, and I know that I will continue to incur substantial costs after the warranty expires.

Nordyne There appears to be a manufacturers defect and flaw design in the model used in my air conditioning unit

There appears to be a manufacturers defect and flaw design in the model used in my air conditioning unit. The triangular evaporator coil is connected by a plastic/rubber material that became unseated through air and heat exchange that caused it to deteriorate and break. Large pieces of plastic broke loose and inadvertently fell onto the heating coils causing them to melt giving off a very strong and evident odor that was disseminated throughout the house when I turn my heat on. The remaining plastic on the coil is continuing to come free and will ultimately have to be replaced in order to eliminate these very strong odors in addition the strong potential to be a fire hazard (which is quite frightening). I spoke with Nordyne customer service and they were not willing to discuss any technical matters with home owners, that for liability purposes would only discuss technical matters with service contractors. The customer service rep also told me that they have never seen or experienced any defects in their products, however when you search 'Nordyne air conditioner evaporator coil defect' the query brings up dozens if not hundreds of similar complaints.

Nordyne In June, I purchased a demonstration unit of air conditioner / heat pump from Community Mechanical in Riverside, OH

In June, I purchased a demonstration unit of air conditioner / heat pump from Community Mechanical in Riverside, OH. Because it was a demo unit, the seller included a 10-year parts and labor warranty. He indicated that he would register the installation with the manufacturer for warranty purposes. Community Mechanical subsequently ceased operation. We have had warranty service performed in the past on this unit, but do not recall the service provider. The unit has ceased functioning, reporting an "OD Unit Lost Power" error to the thermostat / control unit. The manufacturer now indicates that the unit was never registered and they therefore default to a 5-year warranty period. They indicated that registering the unit would have automatically updated the parts warranty to 10 years, and further indicated that the installation packet would have provided this information. However, presumably because this was a demo unit, we did not receive an installation packet. A current local service provider (not currently affiliated with the manufacturer) has troubleshot the unit, had me replace a circuit breaker which did not resolve the issues, and subsequently indicated after consulting with the manufacturer that the part required for repair will cost around $2000.

Nordyne I purchased two complete Frigidaire HVAC (a Nortek brand) systems in 2016, shortly after, one of the systems developed an issue

I purchased two complete Frigidaire HVAC (a Nortek brand) systems in 2016, shortly after, one of the systems developed an issue. The initial service was handled by the installer, and covered correctly under warranty. This year the issue was not fixed (leaking refrigerant). The installer is no longer answering calls, and according to Frigidaire's website, there are none in my area and I should contact them for the closest contractor. Contacting them through their website, they told me they didn't know, and I should contact their distribution center for a recommendation. Ultimately I was told that any HVAC company could perform the service. I contacted a company who performed Service to my equipment, and got it running again, but Nortek/Nordyne/Frigidaire refused to cover it because it wasn't performed to their requirements. They are unwilling to cover work done to their under warranty devices, they are unable to provide service to fix it, which left me with a high bill for work I should not have had to do if their system worked correctly. Since it was a leak fix, I'll have to pay again, and likely still will not have anyone locally who can service it. The other system is working well, and any manufacturer can have a bad unit, but they need to fix it or replace it, as I went with them due to what I perceived to be the quality of their product and the strength of their warranty.
