I am writing to report a serious pedestrian safety concern involving an NJ TRANSIT bus.
On Wednesday at approximately 5:20 p.m., I was crossing in the marked crosswalk at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Oak Street in Ridgewood, New Jersey. While I was lawfully in the crosswalk, NJ TRANSIT bus number 6120 failed to yield and proceeded through the intersection, disregarding my presence. I was alarmed by the driver's actions and was concerned for my safety.
I respectfully request that NJ TRANSIT investigate this incident, identify the driver operating bus 6120 at that time, and take whatever corrective action is appropriate. Drivers of large buses have a responsibility to exercise particular care around pedestrians, especially in marked crosswalks.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I appreciate your efforts to help ensure the safety of pedestrians and the public.
