Nedbank charges for own inability to provide payment service
We requested to channel all payment confirmation SMSes to be sent to our second (overseas) cellular
phone number we used while not in Namibia (April-November 2024) on business trip.
Necessary forms and application were signed in Nedbank with Windhoek Independence Avenue branch manager Cloete Denillo in March 2024.
Up to November 2024 bank account SMS messages for EFT payments have not been sent to
correct cell number, making it impossible for us to execute own account payments. Problem was reported to Nedbank several times from end of March 2024 till October 2024.
Similar problem existed in 2023 but was solved by manual payments made
on our behalf and at our request by Schoonbee Fanie, manager of Nedbank, free of charge.
Request to make manual transfer free of charge was made and Coetzee Alicia undertook
to do it but payment was not made.
She replied instead:
"We have investigated the below and were informed that eft payments done on the 31/10/2024, were not processed b the system due to a system upgrade.
We were not aware of this and extend our sincere apologies on behalf of Nedbank Namibia."
While Coetzee Alicia was extending sincere apologies our account was charged 105 N$ fee for Nedbank's inability to provide payment service, in addition to monthly maintenance/service fees.
Coetzee Alicia ignored our questions sent to her in numerous messages.
Request to change phone number back to Namibian cell sent in November 2024 is also not fulfilled by
Nedbank Namibia - debit card SMS confirmations are still sent to overseas number.

Fraudulent accounts
I deposited R4000 into a Nedbank account that seems to be fraudulent. When I open an account I have to provide all kinds of security from finger prints to proof of everything. How can there be a fraudulent account? Obviously the bank feels a f_^k. Just telling me to get a lawyer and go to the police. As we don't have police in SA...it is a waste of time. Pity that the banks are so unethical to open fraud accounts and not to give a guck if you lose your money. They even refuse to investigate the account that it was put into. Disgusting policy. Shame on the banks. Also don't go to Nedbank in Brackenfell. You wait hours to be serviced. The new SA. F7#ked up.
Non- existent services
To start off with, you absolutely have the worst customer service and experience that I have been exposed to.
I have a new cellphone. I tried to install the app on my new phone, only to get a message to call as my primary number does not work anymore. When I called the digital dept they said they can’t change it and I have to go to a branch to change it. And then they can help me load the app on my new cellphone.
So off I go to the branch at Somerset Mall. There I’m put in a queue for an hour and a half. Then I sit with the consultant for three hours in which she sits on the phi with your digital dept. Despite me warning them that they can’t delete the app off my working phone, they insist. So off goes the app. Predictably, that was not the reason and I leave by closing time with no solution and no access to my banking, not on the internet either. The reference number for this day spent at Nedbank and wasting a day in my life is [protected]. I was promised a call back within an hour from a specialist. Needless to say that call never came.
So yesterday morning I phoned the bank. Given a new reference number
[protected]. Promised a call back within the hour by Vernon who the matter was “escalated” to.
Now 24 hours later, and I call again. Lady who answers said I am being transferred to Vernon. I ask why I haven’t been contacted and Vernon now says he only received my problem this morning, and that he has the right to a 24 hour turnaround and so right now there is nothing to do. I am upset - he says he doesn’t like my tone and despite me asking for a reference number he puts the phone down in my ear. So could you kindly now find someone competent to resolve my problem today still please. I have NO ACCESS to banking services.! And yes I’m so irritable at the moment by your useless and unfriendly bank staff
Recommendation: I don’t know if the other banks are better, but this one is the most expensive with terrible service
Trust me when I say its the worst bank in RSA its being over 2 months trying to get assistance escalated 3 times without any joy or a resolution.
I have a problem with my bank app. When I go to the branch they always tell me to come back after 48 hours all the time. The lady that assisted yesterday was very ride to me. I had this banking app problem since December 14. I have been calling everyday and went to the branch twice. Still the issue is not resolved.

On the 26th of February 2024 we had a very bad hail storm. After the storm with all the rain following, we noticed that our roof was leaking in some areas. Keep in mind, we did maintain the roof and we also applied waterproof rubberizing 2 years ago. So now with leaks after the heavy rains and hail, I log a claim by our insurance. They told us that the claim is rejected because we didn't maintain the roof. So we have been paying them for over 26 years and now they have such stories. Does anyone know how I am going to resolve this issue with them?

This email to officially complain against NEDBANK South Africa. A year ago i have been blocked without pre-notice to use my AMEX card. It took nearly a month to make it active again. Reason? Due to FICA documents to be submitted, while nobody in the first place asked me for them!
Suddenly again, around 20th of March 2024, i have been blocked without pre-notice or reason, again!
Through my business, i have been an AMEX member for the past 36 years and has never experienced such frustration and total lack of service from NEDBANK SA!
Nobody has been able to tell me the reason of such unfair blockage!
Finally, only today, while at one of the branches, the manager managed through phone calls to the head office to unblock my card. It is now working.

Credit card credit life protection
I have had thus card for years. I submitted a disibility claim as I was put on permanent disability. My amex credit card was covered. But they advised me I dont have this cover on my credit card. I do not believe this as I had cover on all my cards and now on this specific card where I had another car, I dont have the cover. This is affecting my credit score. Hi, my personal loan was deducted twice on the 26th of Jan. I phoned and was told that the matter would be resolved in 4-5 working days excluding weekends. I was fine with this. I had a credit card with NEDBANK which my husband was paying on my behalf, i stopped using NEDBANK and my hubby thought i had also paid uo the credit card, nontheless i was not sent section 129 letter and was only aware of this when contacted by GLA attorneys, aware of the problem i endeavoured to make payments of R 5000 pm, my capital amount was R70620.00 and after R17500 in payments my account as per statement from GLA Attorneys is R 67000.00. Almost 82% has been allocated to "adjustments", GLA has since November been waiting for NEdbank to supply a detailed satement as to where my money has gone, still waiting. I am genuinely frustrated with this bank which I have been banking with since 2011. From RA issues, agents requesting way too many details for verification, I am surprised they have not asked for my blood type as yet. (ID number, address, telephone number, account number, company I work for) I attempted to open a bank account for my 9year old via the money app, for the sake of convenience. The card gets delivered, no account information available, just the card number. The status on the money app is pending activation. I then called in and was told to go to an atm and insert the pin 3 times. Which I did, nothing happened. Called in from 3 different numbers, and there seems to be an issue with the phone lines as no one can hear me. I was then told the account is restricted and I need to go into the bank. What a waste of my time. Sure Nedbank, I will definitely come in to see you after I open an account with another bank, and move everything over. Your banking service has gone down the drain! Please do your home work before banking with this bank. They used to be good, now they are just useless.

NDCRS not contactable
I have been receiving e-mails on an outstanding loan from NDCRS.
I no longer live in SA and have been tying to contact somebody from NDCRS since February this year, but there is no e-mail address and when I try and call the numbers, it never goes through.
I am sick and tired of getting these e-mails with payment options, but they are all SA based and I am not in SA!
Does Nedbank not understand that alot of people leave SA so they need to keep up with times?
I got hold of someone via e-mail at the Nedbank Client Services, who sent me the same number as on the NDCRS e-mails. I responded to ask for an e-mail address, two weeks ago, I am still waiting.
They clearly have e-mail because I get e-mails, but you can't reply on those e-mails.
Even if I wanted to pay, I can't because non of their "easy payment" options apply to me and I can't get hold of anyone to make other arrangements.

This is regarding regarding my case CPT-85401 of which I would like to appeal. my card disappeared on the 24th of October 2023, the same day money was withdrawn from my account! And on the same day as soon as realized my card was not with me, I made my way to the branch due to the lack of airtime in order to block my card and my account, other than that, the money stolen was in the "my pocket" part of the money app! Even I am not able to withdraw from any ATM in "my pocket", but that's what happened in this case, and for that I'm holding the system liable! Please review this case as there's no one else who knew my pin number! And I reported the case the same day the card was lost unfortunately before I realized it was missing the money was taken from "my pocket"! Yet the missing card was reported on the same day! If people are able to get money from my pocket account of the money app and if client cards can be so easily forged, I can't trust your bank any more!

Relentless sms charges for no texts sent
Each time my bank account goes into overdraft by the smallest amount Nedbank starts charging me for 3 to 5 text messages per day at a cost of R8,50. No actual text is ever received except for the very first one to say the funds are overdrawn and need to be rectified.
I have complained three times now but no refund. No other bank does this. A text of R 8.50 is insanely high especially as it does not get sent. And then to ‘send’ it all day long it just as ridiculous.

A payment was made from Nedbank to Capitec on the 1st October 2023. That money has yet not reflected but it is out of the account. This is not the first time that something like this has occurred where Nedbank is concerned and it was said that there are many issues with the Pay as you use account.

Poor service from nedbank insurance hoc
On Friday I accidentally drilled through a hot water pipe. I submitted a claim via my Nedbank HOC. I received several SMS advising me the claim No. (C10231029983362) and that their approved plumbers, Brackenfell plumbing would contact me the following morning (Saturday).
By 10am no-one phoned so I phoned the number I was given (twice). No one answered, but I noticed the number was based in Cape Town and I live in Johannesburg! so I phoned the call centre [protected] and had to sit and listen to irrelevant information (and tinny horrible music) before I was automatically transfered to another number. The call was promptly dropped so I had to go through the whole procedure again. I eventually got through and was told I could use my own plumber if urgent which I did. He arrived 20 mins after I contacted him.
Then I was called by the plumber in Cape Town and also by another plumber, Simunye Plumbing Works, another plumber recommended by Nedbank but by then it was too late, the job was done.

On the 4th of April 2023 my house burned down.
Nedbank took their sweet old time to assign a Contractor. They Gave me limited access to Security Guard during this time. After this Expired there were some looting at the house stealing the plumbing and electrical cables and lights / DB board and and...
We are now 6 Months down the line - Nedbank is still running around getting quotes to repair the electrical work. Current Building Contractors cannot finish there work as they are waiting for the Electrical to be completed.
The Claim for the looting were only logged at beginning of September and then only I was told I need a police report with ALL items looted on the report.
I got that done the same week.
Now 4 weeks later - No Work has started as of yet. Got a SMS Today 4th of October - That a NEW electrical company want to make an appointment to come and [censored]? The SMS came thru at 6.35 stating an appointment was made for 00:00-0700 on the 4th of October? and the Contact number given on the SMS is not a valid number to phone
WHAT IS THIS...
Why are they taking so long and prolonging the entire proses?
In Addition - Apparently I'm not covered for the tiling in the bathroom and kitchen where the tiles were broken to steal the plumbing? so they will do some Matching with different tiles? so in the middle of the wall there will be a block of tiles mismatching all the rest of the room?
I've escalated this higher up in Nedbank but still just getting empty promises.
With who can I take this up so that this get the necessary attention that it needs and o speed up the proses.

My bond was registered with nedbank on 13 october 2020. Nedbank have me R556000 loan. The interest rate was at 7.10%. And my total monthly installment was R4034.50 but now it has increased to R5800 amd I have not skiped even one payment yet the statements they send shows that I still owe R541 000.
