National Readers Service scam collections

Every so often I'll receive a call from this company asking if I'm receiving magazines or not and if I'm satisfied with them. EVERY time I respond that I've NEVER signed up to receive them in the first place to which they have no answer . I ask to cancel EVERY time. Recently I received a call from them inquiring whether I still want to cancel to which I again said yes because I didn't sign up in the first place. Then she informed me that they will cancel me only if I pay $495! This company is running a scam and needs to be stopped!

National Readers Service magazine subscription

I want to cancel my subscription. Every time I have called I have been told I have x number of months to complete my subscription. When it comes to the month the subscription is supposed to end some how it gets renewed. It has been renewed several times and I have been told I can't do anything about it. When the hurricane hit the east coast I was told client information had been lost and all subscriptions were extended. If this isn't resolved I will engage the services of a lawyer.

National Readers Service phone calls every day

They call me every day.
I don't owe them anything. One lady said she had my account information so I ask her to tell me my charge card information she read off some number not mine. Then she said they had my banking Information but I would have to give her the numbers she can't read them to me. I told her that wouldn't work for me. She hung up on me.

National Readers Service magazines

I would like to cancel my subscription to this, please inform me what you need for me to cancel. I find it odd that after 6 weeks i have still yet to receive any magazines. please inform me.

Nothing was ever said when they called about paying monthly until they called back, still seemed like a good idea. Then upon thinking about it and getting a letter telling me how much it was going to cost, did not seem right, therefore i need to cancel. Ann Kniepkamp

National Readers Service I've not gotten any products

I was called by [protected] about magazine perscriptions and told the total for this month would be $1.95, I decided to check my account balance and they had taken almost $50.00 out of my account without my permission, which threw me into a deficit and now I have to pay a $38.00 overdraft fee. I'm disabled and on a fixed income I can't afford for this sort of thing to keep happening. after I talked to a customer service rep at the bank, they gave me the phone number of the magazine company, so I called them, and when I told them they were being deceptive and wanted no part of company and wanted the money back in my account that they were not authorized to take out to begin with, they said I was being very rude and they didn't want to talk to me anymore, and the money would be back in my account at the end of the business day. I checked my balance this morning and they haven't done anything. I'm still overdrawn.
after all this crap I've changed my banking information, again and about to change my phone number this is twice in the last 4 months this has happened, the last time was a different company. Anyway there should be something that can be done about these companies that are so deceptive.

National Readers Service Unsolicited calls to a number on the federal do not call registry

i was called by a number i cannot call back, was told i had won a ipod touch. i knew it was a scam so i started asking questions about how they got my name or who entered me into the contest. after a few more questions she just hung up. called National Readers Service to ask why the were calling a number registered on the Federal Do Not Call List (useless waste of taxpayer money that is), she said "that's a good question", then proceeded with her sales pitch, when i interrupted again, she got snitty and hung up. called National Reader Services number, and was told those calls are generated from their "sales department" that has, wait for it ~ no incoming phone service, just out going. i asked the feeble brain trust i was speaking to if she was a "Christian" since she had one of those Southern outhouse state accents, and she said she was. so i asked "then why are employed by a criminal phone scam enterprise? is that how Jesus worked part time to buy carpenter tools?" the call went downhill from there. no, they didn't get me to buy a subscription, because i'm not as stupid as the rest of you, who, quite frankly, i don't understand how any of you reached the age of relative maturity in a world teeming with toxic substances and sharp objects. what i did do is tie up there 800 phone lines with endless calls and heaps of obscenities. note: they may hang up but the line stays live, charging them corporate rates for 800 minutes. so get all your friends to call them, put the phone down and leave it off the hook for an hour at a time and start making them bleed cash. then find a responsible adult to help you manage your finances and to answer your phones ~ because most of you are too stupid to have a credit card! PS: call you f'ng credit card company and cancel the charge! enter the 21st century ~ a mind and a credit score are terrible things to waste.

National Readers Service Not a good company to get involved with

When I first got a call from them i started up with them at 59.99 per month for 5 years and when i was told to i can cancel i was told that it has to be done with in the first 7 days of starting the subscription. i thought it was 7 days after i received and that is usually how it works but every time i called t cancel the subscription they said that i can not cancel my subscription to them and if i stop payments going to them then they will mess up my credit. when i threaten to sue them they said that they have proof that i entered in to contract with them via word of mouth according to maryland state law word of mouth contract is good and binding but only if it is for one year and under 500 dollars worth of products being exchanged and i have paid them over $708 and with 3 more years to go but i changed my pricing to 29.90 and added 28 more months before i am done paying.

National Readers Service fraud

These people called and said I had been entered into a sweepstakes. It sounded legit, until they asked for my credit card. I was reluctant, and the guy I was talking to said, there's a customer service card number you can call, I'm 27 with 3 kids, I'm not going to go to jail over magazines. He made a joke and I relaxed, so I was stupid and gave my number to him. I'm sure I'm going to be billed some awful amount, just for being gullible. How do I fix this?

Don't even get ME started! I, too, was duped. But they have started a new tactic...going by 2 names to get you to pay, and showing 2 different totals, hoping you'll be gullible to think, "Oh God, I signed up for 2 of these!" However, when pressed you get the same service date. Hmm.

Lookout not only for National Readers Service but ALSO Midwest Publishers Inc.!

Better yet. Just don't do it! If anyone does a cold call to you tell them to take your name off their list as that is the law. If you are already on the DO NOT CALL list tell them that and that they just broke the law. See who can hang up the fastest then!

Wish I had been the wiser back in March. Still fighting my strategy using the BBB, FTC, State AG, Consumer Affairs, and the list goes on. The more complaints I can file (and print to send to these 2 companies in response to their bully tactics) the better off I hope we will all be in the end. If they took you for a ride, file away too!

National Readers Service Magazine subscription scam

OK, last week I didn't know anything about National Readers Service. After dealing with these people on my daughter's behalf, that's certainly no longer the case. At this point, National Readers Service has verbally agreed to close her account with no balance, no bills in the future, any additional magazines received after this cancellation are her gift at no charge, and her payment to date will be refunded. Whether or not that agreement is honored, we will see over time.

The Scam:
Unknown to me, my 19 year old was scammed by National Readers Service in June 2009. She bought a pre-paid, essentially cover price, 5 magazine/ 5 year subscription for $68.83 per month for 19 months to be withdrawn automatically from her bank account through her check card number. She also agreed to preview two other offers, United Benefit Advantage and ID Sentinel Alert programs (address Naperville, IL), and was offered a $100 gas card. This ended up being a registration card from International Rebates, LLC (address Tallevast, FL) through United Benefits Services (address Virginia Beach VA) for $10 per month mail-in gas rebate program.

When she tried to cancel the magazine subscription, National Readers Service refused to honor an understood 7-day cancellation period. She was offered a “settlement” of 30% of the total $1229 remaining on the account to cancel or a reduced payment plan of $39.93 for 31 months as her only options. She took the reduced payment plan. When the member packets for the 2 preview offers arrived, she realized there was a one-time, non-refundable $19.99 charge plus $19.99 per month charge for each program with a 30 day cancellation period. She called, and they both agreed to cancel by phone with no difficulty. Whether or not those agreements are honored, we will see over time as well. We have no intention of registering for the gas rebates. But if “not registering” isn’t enough of a message we could end up having to deal with them too.

I hope our "experiences" with this company can be helpful to someone else. Suggestions for ways to deal with these people are on my blog at http://theNRSscam.blogspot.com/

Good luck!

Yes, Elizabeth,

Not only tried ...succeeded!

My daughter's account was cancelled AND her payment was refunded. (They even agreed mistakenly to a double refund during a follow-up phone call before we realized the $68.28 had already been credited through her closed debit card. Thank goodness they didn't actually send the duplicate refund, or I would have been tempted to scam them back for the aggravation. lol) She also received a written cancellation confirmation letter from them.

This happened only after being reported to the FTC (and telling them so) and very straightforwardly informing them of my intentions to report them to the National Consumers League, the Better Business Bureau, my Attorney General/ their Attorney General, the Magazine Publishers of America... you get the idea here. After being contacted by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office, NRS replied with a letter again confirming her cancellation and stating she "will never be billed again whatsoever" and expressed their "sincere regret" for any inconvenience caused to myself or my daughter.

Hopefully that sincere regret (or at least the resulting attention of the Attorney General) will actually encourage them to abide by their own policies in the future. If not, perhaps a continuation of official complaints will result in a “genuinely sincere regret” at some point. lol.

For anyone needing to cancel with the Pittsburgh bunch, I suggest dealing directly with "Christopher" as the best course of action...

“It has always been our policy that under the pay during service agreement, the order is cancelable upon customer request.” [per Christopher Johnson, Customer Service Manager, NRS 1709 S. Braddock #166, Pittsburgh]

During my first conversation with NRS on my daughter's behalf I made a promise to "Roberta" and "Summer" to post these suggestions on any message board I ever encountered with National Readers Service complaints. Creation of theNRSscam blog was the result of keeping that promise. I have collected general magazine subscription scam information, consumer protection resources, specific information about National Readers Service, and suggestions for dealing with magazine subscription scams including convenient complaint submission links for all the above mentioned agencies and organizations. Hopefully you can find something helpful there if you need it.

Best of luck to everyone, D/

I've been dealing with them for months... When they called me, it sounded a bit odd but I had thought at the time it was legit. I wish I had done some research cuz now I keep getting billed for things I'm not even receiving. I've received maybe 10 magazines in like an 8 month period. And they'll call me sometimes up to 7 times a day back to back to back if you miss a payment or to try to get you buy something else. It's aggravating to say the least. For the most part the people are extremely rude and give you the run around when you try to cancel your subspriction. It's such a pain. To anybody who reads this if you get contacted by Virginia Renewal Services ignore them, tell them to die, pretty much tell them whatever just dont subscribe to anything they'll try to sell you. I'm trying to get out of my subspriction with them and its a nightmare. If anybody can help me out please dont hesitate to share your information.

Its a scam! Don't accpet the magazine as a free gift for closing the account without the 'additonal charges'. I did this two years ago..paid a settlement fee of $278. Two years later they call (now they are usuing Virginia Renewal Service instead of National Readers Service) and are stating that was a settlement for only for two year subscription..I still owed them five years and that there was a two year grace period from the date of settlement and that I can either pay $720 now or in monthly increments and give them the option of not renewing...whatever means it is do not accept the offers, gifts, apologies, etc..they will come back and try to scam you again!

I'm 20, and I had the exact same offer thrust upon me September of 2009. The telemarketer refused to take no for an answer. I understand these people are just doing their job, but to what extend I might ask? I saw another comment elsewhere saying oh, well you people should have known what the terms were if you would have listened and these telemarketers are just doing their jobs. How many times does one person have to say no before these telemarketers understand? They should not continue on for over 45 minutes telling you about what a great deal it is, ESPECIALLY not if you have already said many times that you are not interested! I was sick in bed and had taken cough syrup about 30 minutes before when I received the call, and pretty much went through this same exact ordeal, except I refused the other two offers. What frustrated me is that I told them I was not interested, that I couldn't afford it because I was a college student, and that I was not feeling well and wanted to decline the offer. But to no avail. I was told that there was a cancellation period, and when I called to cancel two days later, they refused and said I would be financially obligated to pay throughout the remainder of the service. They told me that they are not allowed to cancel services, that the telemarketers would never have been allowed to say that, and that if they allowed customers to cancel they wouldn't be able to stay in business. They said I must have been mistaken. They talk as fast as possible in one breath, you tell them to slow down and repeat themselves and they just do the same thing over again. It's very upsetting being put into this sort of situation. You're being told and led to believe one thing, and doing something completely different. There was also something I remember about them calling me because I was a visa card holder and that they had my information somehow, which I thought was odd. I don't like that they had my card information and cell phone number, that was a little frightening that they had that on hand. One thing that really bothered me about the people I spoke with is that they talk down to me. They did not and still do not respect me as a customer, which is what I still am, considering I'm still being forced to pay on the account. Rather, they talk to me like I'm naive, stupid, and easily manipulated because I am of younger age. On the contrary... the only reason I even agreed to accept the service is because I was ill, in bed, on medications, and very tired of trying to talk to these people about how many times I was uninterested. I honestly wish I had hung up the phone, although I don't usually like doing that to people, because they are still just trying to do their job. But they shouldn't be putting people in these kinds of situations. It's wrong.

National Readers Service Unable to cancel

So, I made a big mistake and got involved with United Readers Service Inc. It sounded good and I jumped right in. I did not record any phone calls, and I did not keep the paperwork they sent me (big mistake). I am now told that I was given 10 days to cancel my subscription but I remember being told I could cancel at any time. I am now going to be getting magazines and paying $60.00 for another 13 months and then an additional $20 for like 15 months after that. I have tried on several occasions to cancel my subscription but have been told that I am committed to the full amount of money and time. United Readers Service Inc. offered to lower my monthly payment and extend the time but the amount would be the same. I have tried to stop payment through my bank and was told that since I gave up my credit card number, there was nothing they (the bank) could do. I am at a loss for any next step.

1. Don't get into bed with these people.

2. If you have any ideas about how to better deal with this situation, I would appreciate your advice.

Thanks

Can you just stop paying the National Reader Service? Because I noticed I told them I wanted to cancel because I don't even read these magazines and I didn't want it in the first place they trick people into doing the contest etc. I only paid with Money Orders not check or debit /credit cards ..But is it a good idea to just stop paying them since its a scam and alot of customers have complained to BBB.

I Am NOT Receiving the product that I've paid for! Your Bank should help you against Scammers. My said they will help fight this. They have filed a dispute claim and "black listed" them against taking money from my account! Now, with all the documentation throughout your sources, you can use these with the credit companies that call for collection. There is not reason why you should pay for something that you don't receive! Also, when you call them and they say that you cannot cancel the subscription!? That's alot of money they have put into their own pockets---out of yours. We need to all get together here and put them out of business, once and for all! Nice future for our families!

I know every customer goes through about a 45 min process with the sells person and yes they are convicing! They will do their best and rebut until you say yes or hang up. However Every customer has to verbally agree to all the terms in order for the order to be processed. You all are making a commitment to make all monthly payments then opt out because you just think of the MONEY! The sweepstakes are real! You don't have to buy the magizines but the phone rep sells the crap out of you! So who's fault is that? And to all the parents upset because you 18 or 19 year old agreed to a service, they Learned the word NO by the time they were 5 the latest so it's their own fault. They should have hung up, never gave their info via telephone, and disregarded the call. All you people trying to make the company look bad however the company never put a gun to your head and made u say yes. You did it on ur own!

For the record, every customer has to say on record how much they are paying, for how long, that they understand that the payments are consectutive and they have to say a clear yes to give us permission to process the order. If ANY of the questions are not clearly stated then the order is killed immediately. Yes, the sales reps might be a little pushy, but isn't a car sales man too? Don't bash a company because u were to stupid to buy the magizines. The first words during the call is "this is a sales call... No purchase necessary... You have been entered into a sweepstakes ... "And it's all true. I even heard a man say, I just ordered for the free gas card and I will cancel. I don't care what they loose out on... So peoples intentions are bad and karma comes back to bite them. All I know isnif you make and agreement, morally you should keep it. The company is legit. Just make sure you know what ur doing b4 u do it.

They do send a watch. Try to see who gives you more free, the magizine service or mcdonalds... Or a lotto ticket? Which do you have a better chance of winning?

Obviously the company is still open for a reason...

National Readers Service Debiting Checking Account

They call all the time! We tell them no more subscriptions, yet they send more and more. Stupid magazines come in the mail that we have no interest i! They keep debiting our checking account with random amounts from $11.00 to over $100.00! Can't stop them. Tried putting a stop payment on the checks, yet they change the name slightly or city, state, and they continue to go thru!

I am sooo frustrated with this! They said I had a "coupon" to buy $1000 worth of stuff. I have not been able to do this. Plus was gonna have to pay S&H on all items chosen.

And everytime I try to call the number they've given to my bank, it is disconnected.

I need my $ back ($49.90/ month for magazines that have ABSOLUTELY no interest to me).

They were very convincing on the phone. Yet, they've not stood by the things which they have told me.

This is SUCH A SCAM!

I've had the same problem with NRS. They send me magazines that I have no interest in. I have received calls from them and told them to stop sending the magazines and stop calling. They ignore me and continue to send. I'm trying to call them now and have been on hold 10 minutes. I will be contacting Arizona AG's office Consumer Fraud Division.

National Readers Service SCAM - Lied about past due account

A couple of years ago I got an unsolicited call from National Readers Service wanting to sell me magazines. The original offer was to pay $1.43 per week for a 5 year subscription to Time Magazine and I'd get 4 other magazines for free. By the end of the conversation, I was told I'd have to pay for the whole subscription up front which amounted to a payment of $62.50 for 12 months. At the end of the twelve months, they were still taking money out of my checking account, so I called to find out what was going on and I was told that it was an 18 month payment plan. WHen I had finally paid them off they started calling me to get me to sign up for another 5 years. This was at the end of 18 months ! I told them no each time. A week ago, I got a call from them telling me that I still owed on the original account. They said that I'd only paid off the first two years and that I still owed them for three. Of course, I had thrown away my original letters and things after I had paid off the $62.50 at 18 months, so I thought I'd say OK and then see that came in the mail. I had to give them my debit card for the first payment of $49.90 and then they were to invoice me for another 30 months. The girl talked so fast, I didn't have time to think because I was just trying to keep up with what she was saying. This week I got a letter in the mail from them signing me up for a new account for an additional 60 months and the total was $1, 497 ! I tried calling them to cancel the 'subscription', but their phone number on the letter was a porn site and their phone number on the bank statement was bogus. I went straight to the bank and cancelled my debit card and got a new one so they couldn't charge my account any more. I will send them a letter (who knows if the address is bogus) cancelling and am filing a complaint with the bank to investigate the charges on my account. If they call to threaten me I will get a lawyer to fight this. Or will call the Better Business Bureau. Is there some way to put this company out of business ?

I have NEVER even heard of this company until they have started popping up on our caller ID two and three times a week for the past 3 or 4 weeks. They keep calling. They are harassing us. What the hell? I am so glad I researched the name and the number of them. Find out they are scammers. But how do we get them to stop calling us?

I just received call from them. They said I signed up in September of 2010 with "Visa" Debt card for 60 months and paid first 30 months. ( I do not have visa debt card now, then and never). They said, I signed up for 5 years with automatic signup for next 5 years. They seams to have correct address and correct phone number. But Visa debt card basically said its a scam. To continue the story, They also said, next 30 months I need to pay 49.99 per month, ( not sure which magazines cost 49.99 per month? where are those magazines for last 30 months? ) and also, they said they will cancel next 5 years contract if I just pay 49.99 per month for next 30 months. I recorded all our conversations. First Girl first I talked was Beverly (who was new?) and the supervisor is Renee Remos ( ID:0605). While talking, I started researching on google, and found out they are fraud. I mentioned that to supervisor. She said they are not and she argued that I signed up and initiated it. Only problem was I do not remember when I signed up, I never carried Visa Debt card.
Today's Call came from [protected]. I basically fed up and hung up.

Just received a call from there Company from a representative named "Jennifer" she told me that I was in a sweepstakes for 50, 000 and would get 3 free magaazine subscriptions. On top of this 3 more would be mailed @ 3.88 per week, and information would come in the mail. A few minutes after speaking with her, another rep called back to confirm and wanted my debit card for the first installment. When I requested documentation before paying he stated he would not lose his job for the price of a Happ Meal, I laughed and requested it again -- guess he didnt think it or me not paying was funny so he hung up. There was no caller id because they call unavaiable.

i can say this to all those that have signed up for this service, willing or unwilling, the quickest way to cancel your account is to threaten with LAWYER, BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU, OR ATTORNEY GENERAL. i use to work for one of these companies when i was younger and needed the paycheck, but as soon as i found out what was going on, i got out of these as quick as possible. the only way they will cancel your account on the spot when a representative calls you for a payment is to threaten with a LAWYER, BBB, OR AG. just remember though, being a previous employee myself, they lie to the employees as well, saying they are legit and approved by the BBB, so please remember not to take it out on the reps that are just doing their job.

For those of you who HAVE given information to them, cancel your cards and get new ones. Its the only way to deal with it. They called me and I told them I was going to get my card when in reality I was checking them on the internet. I read these scam stories and hung up on them. If they have enough info on you, that means they probably have your card number, so I would call and cancel your cards asap.

National Readers Service Pressure tactics/will not cancel

After finally talking to someone. they tell me I can't cancel. I explained the situation at the time. That I was with My grandchildren at time. Was extremly over stressed. They made it all sound good. Now they won't aloud me to cancel my membership. since when is it you can't cancel something you don't want, or need. After I did the math. It's a ripp-off.. I want out.And they have the nerve to ask for $700.00 and change. To get out of it. DON'T THINK SO...

i got the same call last year and within 7 days, they promise to give me a free watch with whatever magazines I never read and there is "no cancel" policy. I ended up to dispute this charge with AMX since there is no contract signed (well, they better could prove it and I will tell the court that I do call and ask for cancellation the very next day but they told me it's already processed and no cancellation)Today I got another phone call and I am stupid enough to give them my new address. Oh well, I am going to dispute it again if they dare to charge my card again.

National Readers Service Scam and cheating

Originally this company seemed like a good idea. I pay a flat fee of $64 a month for one year and I get five magazine subscriptions for five years, or so I thought.

I just received a call from them today asking for my updated cc information so they could debit $40 a month for the next 3 years. Not wanting to be reported to a credit bureau, I reluctantly gave in.

Their shipping even stinks for the last year I've only been getting two of the subscriptions that I payed for. And now the want more money?!?!

I also subscribed to this, but had decided to cancel and not do the renewal as well. I actually cancelled within the 60 days allotted to cancel. Then, 7 months after I had cancelled it, they called me and are claiming that I never did. The other problem is that they never seem to send you anything that describes any activity in the mail. So, aside from a note that I wrote to myself about the cancellation, I have nothing to prove it. I now apparently owe them x amount per month for the next 30 mos of subscriptions I do not want, and know I cancelled. They also do that wonderful thing that practically traps you where they front the rest of the money for the renewal essentially binding you to whatever you owe. I'm still in the process of trying to get it sorted out, and yes the customer service number is a joke, no website, and no address. You wait forever trying to talk to someone. I believe their headquarters are somewhere in Kansas, which isn't much help. I'm hoping that people do not get themselves into this mess, because it is a ridiculous nightmare. I would advise anyone who wants a magazine subscription to do it directly through that magazine and not through any company like this. They'd only be asking for trouble.

National Readers Service Faulty sweepstakes/magazine subscriptions

I get an anonymous phone call from a fairly convincing company that states I've won some sweepstakes called the Dream of Your Lifetime sweepstakes...they call themselves Best Publications Services, which is odd because in the letter that was sent to me it states that they're the NATIONAL READERS SERVICE. These guys are totally a scam and are trying to rip people off in the process. On the supposed letter they claim to give you a complimentary free watch and state that there are no contracts. These people seem to be professional scammers and for "God sake" I almost gave them my social security number...for whatever reason the man over the phone asked me for it - that's when I started to consider how phony these guys sound. My advice for any body who is to receive such phone calls is to quickly interrupt them talking and say no. And investigate yourself if you can...via the internet or the local library.

phone number my scam telephone call came from: [protected] and [protected] They called me today August 7 2013 and told me I'm being entered into a Dream of a Lifetime sweepstakes for $25, 000 The caller ID said "Hearst, Inc." so I thought it was from Hearst magazines. She said they are sending me a free watch and 6 magazines for only $20.mon. for 4 years. I would have to give my credit card info right then on the phone or I would not be entered into the contest. I told her how do I know it's not a scam? I told her sorry, but I will need to pass on the offer! I looked it up right away on the internet to find out it was indeed a scam!

This is the main place that I have worked for and to send complaints about: There direct number for employee's is [protected]. I worked here for two weeks before I relized how we were scaming customers...the "free diamond watch" only cost the company $2 bucks each and as far as I know there are no real sweepsteaks drawings...I needed a job, and it was a quick job to get and I am sorry for anyone I have sold to. Do not work here! The person the employee talks to too call in sick or whatever is JR, just ask for him and they will put you through. Not sure if this will help anyone but I noticed how NRS the fake company we say in the script has a D- on the BBB website and IMA (International Marketing Association, Inc.) rating is great, which is the actual company that we as employees are not allowed to say on the phone.

Someone just called my phone as well. She said that I was entered in the sweepstake but she really couldn't give me that much informaton so i would have to speak with her supervior. Her supervisor came on the line and asked me how she treated me and the i told him okay and then when they asked me for my credit card information I got furious. I then asked the supervisor how do i know this is not a scam and asked him for the company information. when I pulled it up online, I didn't see any good comments what so ever and then the supervisor stated" the people are just mad and am i going to believe the internet and when he went on here before it was all good comments" I then told him if I could be removed off the list and he hung up in my face! I totally think its a scam!

They knew my name, address and obviously my cell number which they used to contact me. They are sending a "free" watch. I asked "So what is the hitch?" . The male caller replied nothing. So I am guessing I will be inundated with offers by mail. I am trying to get back in touch with them and as of yet am unable to find a phone number for this company. I had my credit card provider put me on fraud alert so that if any charges show up that are out of the ordinary I will receive an immediate text message on my cell. Any one have a contact name and number?

I recieved a phone call today telling me that I was entered in a sweepstakes because I was a preferred mastercard holder. They were offering me a free watch which the lady said was cpntained a "real" diamond at the 12 o'clock point along with 2 complimentry magazines. They only thing was that I had to but 2 other magazines at 60% off thier normal price. They already had my full name, address, and phone number. They funny thing is that I just got this phone number yesterday when I purchased a new phone wwith a different company(Metro PCS). They wanted my Mastercard number. Ihave a Mastercard debt pre-paid card. The kind where you put money into the card. Basiclly one of those cards you can use for direct deposit when you don't have a bank account. The lady on the phoe talk very qickl andtold me that someone woujld be calling me back asking me to rate her prefrmance.
When I started asking questions about the company she said that he suprivisor had just tapped her on the sholder and wanted to speak with me to find out how Samantha had prefromed on the phone. After asking about her preformance he asked whic card I was planning on using to pay for the other two magazines. I told him that the card was a prepaid and that there was no money on the account, which was true, but that he needed the information just to varify that I was a card holder. So I ended up giving him the informain figurin, what could they do. There was no money in the cards affofunt and it can be overdrawn.
well we'll see what happens.

National Readers Service Magazine subscription

Over the summer the company "Readers Club of America" called me to sign up for their magazines, it sounded legit, so I did. They billed me once and for the last 4 months I thought I got them off my back. I just got a phone call from these guys who say they're from "National Readers Service" saying they're going to start billing me again. I asked them to cancel but they said I made an obligation to pay them for the next 30 months. I asked to hear the voice recording saying that I agree to pay them for the next 30 months, but they refused to let me hear it. I have no clue what the hell is going on but if anyone knows anything about these people please let me know.

I have been billed for 2 months of $59.80 each time and no magazines and no way to cancel subscriptions . They called me and told me I would get 5 subscription to different magazines and billed my debit card for 2 payments and I am yet to receive the first. Also supposed to get $250 in gift cards haven't seen them either.

They are a rip off company the only way to stop them from taking your money is to cancel your credit card. Then they will begin to harass you on the phone everyday.

I think what I find so frustrating is that this 'company' has so many names, phone numbers and states they operate from! I have learned a valuable lesson from this mess and in the process paid thousands of dollars. On Jan 2nd 2018 $39.90 was charged to my account, THEN on 1/26 my account was charged $59.95 AND AGAIN my account was charged ANOTHER $59.95 on the 29th. I tried calling the contact number listed...'this number is no longer in service' and 'this number has been disconnected'. I suppose I will have to change my cc again and just refuse to pay them!

I have been receiving calls that they will continue my service and deduct $49.90 a month for five magazines which I have not received.
The only magazines I receive is Family Fun and Ebony, the Ebony I always receive 2 months late. When I received the call on 9/18/16 I told
them I do not want to renew but they insisted that I'm obligated to pay the $49.90 a month. The phone number they call from doesn't say
it's a magazine service at all it just says Swedesboro, NJ.

Serveral magazine companies call me, I am receiving too many magazines, I ask them who they were, they talked really fast. I was told because of my payment history, they would lower my monthly payment and remove my name from the renewal list. This company has been taking two payment per month from my account, the lower payment of 29.90 and old payment of 34.90. I quit paying them for a few months. I was told they would report this to the credit bureau.

I've gotten a call from them as well. They made it sound as if the gift cards I had entered in to win that I actually won them but then as I kept listening, I started wondering hey could this be a scam. Luckily the card they tried getting the funds off of didn't have any money on it. And since then we had canceled the card and new are getting a new card. Not looking forward to them calling me about making payments because I won't do it. They are a crap company and will get you roped in with you thinking you won something. When in fact they are just trying to get money out of people. If national readers of north America calls hang up. They are there to scam people.
