MyEyeDr review: Billing discrepancy - customer service
I had an appt at the 401 E Bell Road site in Phoenix AZ back in 6/26/26. I specifically selected the office as the Optometrist was listed as a participant under my eye discount plan. I am widowed and retired to cost is a big concern for me. A week prior to my appt I was required to submit all my patient info and the female admin person CONFIRMED the Optometrist worked with my discount plan. When I went in for my appt I confirmed again my exam was covered - Invoice pay #[protected] comprehensive exam and retinal photos as well as a portion of my glasses. That day I paid the insurance co pay and my portion of the glasses in full of $234. I came back a few weeks later and had prescription put in another pair of my lenses and paid that invoice in full. In August I received a summary invoice that I owed $125. I called the billing department and was told my discount plan was not in effect on the date of my appt. however my coverage has been in effect continuously for the last 2 years. I then called Thomas Burgess, manager at the office 3 times to get clarification on what the bill was for - I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY CALL BACK, so I went into the office and reviewed the account with him, he said the system made an error and he would speak to finance about it. I waited 2 weeks, no call back and I left messages another 2 times and finally caught him in the office. He told me he had called finance and the supervisor was looking into it, he would get back to me as soon as he heard anything. No call and more messages left by me. So I went back into the office, he stated he had brought this up to the new regional manager and was waiting to hear back. Two more weeks, more messages left with not return call. I went back into the office 10/28/26 and Thomas said he had heard from the manager that the finance dept is handling the matter. I asked for the managers phone number which he would not give me but said he could have the manager call me. You can see where this run around has me frustrated, I know its only $125 but its at your end and I do not feel I should have to pay it. I have excellent credit and this has me very upset as Thomas has givien me nothing but a run around and does not want to be bothered to get back to me and I am very mad about the unprofessionalism of the office manager in dealing with this. The Dr was great and the ladies I spoke with were very understanding and tried their best to help. The new regional manager may want to look into the customer service provided at this location - may be why the office is so empty.
Recommendation: While the Dr was good, the service with the office manager isnt worth going here.
