Three years ago I purchased my first Xbox 360 as a Christmas gift for my son. Less than a year later, his system got what is infamously known as the "three rings of death". Still under warranty, I returned it to the place of purchase and received another one. A few days ago, it happened again and all my son wanted for Christmas was Xbox 360 games. This makes 3 Xbox 360's in 3 years. As big as Microsoft is, they should be able to design a system that has a longer shelf life than 11 months. I read that this system has a failure rate of 66% which is, in my opinion completely unacceptable. I tried contacting Microsoft and got a number that would not get me to an agent. I then went to the Xbox website and tried emailing them only to be told that I had too many characters and then when I weeded it down to the right amount of characters was told that I had characters that weren't "recognizable" (Um..I only used the english alphabet, periods and commas) so the email would not send. Now, a week before Christmas, I have to figure out how to purchase another Xbox 360 and still have money for the games so he doesn't have a ruined Christmas. More money thrown away on a system that won't even make it to next year. Incredible.

Purchased xbox 360 for my son Christmas 2017.( From BestBuy, with extended 2 year warranty) In February 2017, 2 months later, was freezing up and scratching games. Returned to BestBuy. Upgraded to the new Hdmi version, which cost more money. Upgrading also cost me my extended warranty. It could not be transferred. In November 2017, got the "three rings of death", 9 months later, we shipped it to xbox, for repair. A few days later, we received an email stating they received it. A few hours later, we received an email stating it was repaired and shipped out. A few days later, we receive our package from xbox. Inside is a note stating it could not be repaired, with a list of reasons. We call xbox customer service, on the line over 45 minutes, getting the run around. Finally get a supervisor, on the line, tells us it couldn't be repaired because it was tampered with. Ah, no it wasn't. " Trevor, who refused to give me his last name, because he knew I was going to file a customer complaint on his rudeness and terrible customer service, flat out accused me of tampering with it and lying about it. Also, repeatedly told me " I don't know why you are getting so worked up over it." The xbox 360 that was returned to me isn't even the unit I sent in. It is all scratched up, with dents in the back and it looks like the label, with the serial numbers was removed and re-applied. Uh, what's up with that. I didn't take it apart. It's terrible that multi billion dollar companies take advantage of their consumers more and more and their customer service get's worse and worse. Something needs to be done about this. Consumers need to be heard. Manufacturers need to care.

Have you enter a draw to win this money with microsoft?
Do you think microsoft are just going to give this money away because they are so generous?
Google it and you will find it is scam
They will ask you for money in order to send you your winnings, they will then ask for more money because the tax office or customs oare asking, you will not get any money.

you have a very strange understanding of the word cute. I take it you imply that my observation about the ### thing confirms that I am a ###. Do check the etymology of the word Donkey and grow up, or should we just assume you are indeed the adolescent mudslinger you appear to be? You cannot buy word seperately. If you can, then please direct us to the source rather than making these odd assertions, and please stop all this personal stuff. It is so pointless and you simply expose yourself..
Bottom line, my computers worked perfectly well with XP and not at all with windows 7. Therefore your comment about Windows, no matter what version you have, is nonsensical.
Anyway, if you have anything useful to offer, I welcome the response.

as I understand it, an ### is a form of Donkey. I sadly possess no ###, unless we are assuming that Microsoft 7 is a form of Donkey, in which case I suppose my rule of thumb should be inserted into Windows 7. Great. then it is OBVIOUS that it is shoddy. Thanks for agreeing.
Sadly, your list of advantages does not seem to reflect my experience. What exactly is the user interface? And indeed, I have complained about the failure of the Desktop search functions.
I have no problems in assigning blame to the people who built my computers. But what is the point of blame. Surely the point is to ensure that the system works. A system so delicate is bizarre unless it offers significant advantages. You have not sufficiently itemized these. As for your praise of Office, it would of course be much more helpful if thedse packaged softwares could be bought seperately. As it is, it is a very expensive package to get a version of Outlook and word. I cannot dispute the improvement in word, but outlook is a mess. I cannot see that it is worth paying so much for so little that is useful to me. But I quite understand that it is a great way to make a quick buck!

Let's be a little clearer here so that the carping might stop. I have very specific requirements that were met absolutely by XP. When upgrading to Windows 7, which was necessary because the people who made my computers are no longer in business and it is impossible, or proved impossible at the time to get copies of XP disks to reinstall software, I was asssured windows 7 would be compaitble and indeed an improvement. More than that, that outlook would be an improvemnt on outlook Xpress. In fact, none of this proves to be the case. The computers crash far more, and outlook is over complicated for what it offers. the search engine dfor windows 7 is far less accomplished than for windows Xp and reguarly claims that files do not exist when I later find them manually. This was not a problem with Windows XP. I resent the imputation that I am a ### and so on. I am not a computer geek but I am certainly computer literate. However, I do not expect to spend hours dealing with software glitches in a new programme when what I really wanted was the older programme in the first case. I have suffered technicians instructing me to reinstall the software on a number of occasions and it has made not a blind bit of difference. When talking to others, I find that I am not alone in feeling frustrated with this new product, and feeling cheated. However it is considered, I was bamboozled into getting windows 7 and it has not done the job. I would be delighted if one of the various cronies who find this posting such an opportunity for bile could actually spell out the advantages they have foudn with windows 7 rather than telling me that I am a fool because I have found it to be inadequate. As for the request about installing XP, here is the story: I bought windopws pro and installed it. It crashed a few times and I reinstalled it twice. The third time, the computer rejected it altogether and I installed instead windows 7 home edition which workled adequately for a few weeks, then itself crashed. Meanwhile, I intalled windows 7 Pro on another computer creating a network that still fails to see certain external harddisks, though my mac has no problems with this. Given the history which has been relayed to the technicians at Microsoft, I feel I was justified in requesting guidance about reinstalling XP, and about thecertainly of being able to download Outlook Xpress. beyond that, there is no site that tells one how to extract files from outlook and place them in outlook xpress. I have 5 or 6 months' worth of emails gathered in outlook now that should relaly be logged into the outlook express system when it is up and running. I am, I believe, understandably worried that should I attempt to put on XP, there is a chance that the machine will cease up altogether and refuse to work. I mention the fact that I have not been offered a refund not so much in the interest of getting one but in the knowledge that I have been a victim of commerical pressure that has forced me into buying products I did not want, that do not do the job and that I have still had to replace. there is no scam intended nor implicit in what I wrote. I am appalled that a company of the size of microsoft can behave sobadly, but the facty that it is so big explains its bully-boy tactics and its monopoly. It is astonishing that on a site like this, its henchmen should be so seedy and childish. So let me repeat, a shoddy, useless service and shoddy useless software. Please Bert, do not use the word "obviously" as an assertion if you cannot back it up with evidence, . the rule of thumb is probably that the word "obviously" is best avoided: if something is obvious then there is no need to signal it and if something is not "obvious" then the word is misused. I see no reason to chance my opinion that the software is "shoddy": that many people are forced to use it must be because there is no alternative, as indeed I discovered to my considerable cost. Quantity does not amount to quality and size does not always matter. Please convince me otherwise as I still have the disks and it might be interesting to know that one day they may be useful! Thankyou.

many thanks Havan 72 for your encouragement. It is so nice meanwhile to be reassured by theLoveFist II that I am a ###. certainly I feel like one for investing in Windows 7. Thanks

I am sure there is always an explanation and no doubt Here we go again has some microsoft connection., the outrage is that this does not work and I have not had the help to make it work. It is unlikely that I would have a virus on three computers esp as one of them is not connected to the internet. I post this to let others know that there are serious issues with this software and seriopus issues with the way microsoft deal with their customers. I cannoit see that this means that I am at fault andthat I should be the one to outrage you, but there we are.

my system requirements are in order.
The problems lie in the nanny-ing approach of the new software
but also in the attitude of the company. It is outrageous that XP has been withdrawn when it is clearly one of the few operating systems that works well

Why do you keep purchasing these systems? The "red ring of death" is a common problem that 90% of Xbox customers know about. Anyways, here is a cliche to teach you something:
