Maytag I got a lemon and they refuse to make it right

I purchased a Maytag gas range 5 months ago. It has never worked properly. It won't stay hot after it preheats. I have had parts replaced on it 3 times, one part has been replaced multiple times, and Maytag still will not send me a new range. Two service technicians from A&E (the company Maytag sent out) have told me that the range is unrepairable, yet Maytag still refuses to replace it. Don't buy a Maytag product. I got a lemon and they refuse to make it right.

Maytag faulty maytag bravos dryer

I purchased a new Maytag Bravos series washer/dryer set in February of 2011. About 3 wks ago, I noticed that my dryer was taking longer and longer drying my clothes and after a while it was just leaving them hot, wet and steamy. There was also large amounts of "wet lint" in the dryer and stuck to the clothes. I took the back off and found the blower belt and pulley bolt lying on the floor of the dryer. I googled this issue as well as the "wet lint" and found mutiple sites and complaints with people having this same problem with this make and model of dryer. I called Maytag and they basically told me "sorry, your 1 yr warranty is out, but you can pay for a service visit" (I am 3 weeks outside of my warranty!) My expensive MAYTAG dryer only functioned for 1 yr! Also, there is a "service bulletin" on this same issue! I will never recommend Maytag to anyone, EVER! I will NEVER purchase anything Maytag or Whirlpool again. Maytag has the rudest customer service I have ever experienced. They DO NOT stand behind their product! Horrible product, horrible customer service, horrible experience...and, tough lesson to learn. Bottom line, stay away from Maytag! Beware.

Hi, Jody_eve. My name is Melanie and I am a representative of Maytag. We apologize about the frustration you have experienced with your dryer. 90% of improper drying is due to venting issues, and not problems with the dryer, as long as it is heating. If the dryer is running, then run the dryer without the venting. See how long it takes to dry without the venting in place. If it dries fine, then you know the venting is the issue. To test the venting, take a piece of cardboard against the outlet inside the drum and it won't fall off until you shut the dryer off. Hook the vent up and you get different results depending on the vent. There are other, more expensive testers, but this one does not cost much, and is effective. If you would like us to look into this further, please provide your name, the site you were contacted on (Complaintsboard), your user ID name (Jody_eve), your phone number, your address, the full model and serial number, and email the requested information to Maytag.Digital@maytag.com. We would be happy to review your concerns further. Sincerely, Melanie.

I'm having the same exact problem and have found by searching online that so are A LOT of other people. We have thoroughly cleaned the lent trap and exhaust hose but it still takes 4 or more hours to dry 4 towels. We started having problems almost immediately after our warranty expired. We have had the dryer less than two years i thought we were buying top of the line machines. When we purchased the dryer my husband and I said to each other 'let's pay good money for good quality.' we did NOT get what we paid for. We were planning to buy a new dishwasher (you can bet it won't be whirlpool) but now we have to put that off to replace our maytag dryer first. Maybe we shoulda just gone with a cheaper brand.

Maytag I am so disappointed in this company and I would never buy any of their products ever again

I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer 18 months ago. Yesterday the electronic components in the washer stopped working. I called a repair man and the cost of fixing an 18 month old washer will cost as much as a new washer! I then called Maytag Corp. They told me their warranty is for ONE YEAR ONLY. They offered to get me the replacement part for 1/2 off the cost, but I would have to pay for the repair! I thought Maytag was supposed to be a good company and that their products last. They do not stand behind their products. I am so disappointed in this company and I would never buy any of their products ever again.

Here's a link to the downward spiral history of the Maytag Company and it's products. Maytag began the process of shifting appliance production to lower-cost assembly plants outside the United States, in 2004 and between 2002 and 2004, Maytag corporate management cut new-product investment by 50%. Once renowned as the standard for laundry appliances, by 2003 the company faced increasing competition from new appliance brands in the US market, as well as from existing appliance manufacturers who had outsourced production a decade earlier in order to reduce costs. On April 1, 2006, the Whirlpool completed its acquisition of Maytag Corporation. In May 2006, just another sad story of the effects of competition and poor U.S. corporate management. In a nutshell, a Maytag is a Whirlpool, so forget the quality reputation aquired during the years of the "Lonely Maytag Repairman" commercials.

Much like you, we thought the brand name WHIRLPOOL meant quality. And much like you, my wife and I found that quality and standing behind their products means nothing to either the dealers, or the manufacturers.
Although in our case the product was a clothes dryer, the results were the same.
We paid nearly 400 dollars just over a year ago for a Whirlpool/ Estate Dryer/ model EED4400WQ0. It lasted just over a year, stopped working for no reason, and even the repairman said this was a case of faulty workmanship.
Unfortunately his word was not final, and the local dealer, MURPHY APPLIANCE IN OWENSBORO KENTUCKY, left us high and dry with a dryer that's now a hunk of junk for the landfill, which I'm sure is the case for the thousands of others who were stupid enough as us to trust what was once the top name in the business.

Hello:
There should be a recall of most of these machines. I really wish the engineer of these machines would come into some of the consumer's homes for a full wash cycle. Let them see exactly what they're selling to the public, as if they don't already know.
My mother purchased the Maytag ensignia 200 "quiet" series. It's really a sad day when you spend good money on a company's washer and dryer, yet your clothing comes out wrinkled and linted to the max. The clothes are usually clumbed and twisted. The washer has ruined many of blankets. This machine is a total waste of good money, which in this economony is hard to come by. The dryer has never dried anything properly and waste electricity. We can't even sell this crap of machines. I would never let someone else mess up clothing. Not even for free. We'll probably donate them to the Animal shelter to wash out the towel, forget drying them. I am contacting this company for some sort of compensation, this product must be recalled.

Maytag I will not purchase another whirlpool/maytag/kenmore product.

In December 2004, I purchased a Maytag Neptune, top Loader washing machine and dryer. Within 2 years I had to have the clutch assembly replaced and less than five years later, I have to replace the clutch assembly again. That means that this machine will have had 3 clutches in less than seven years. The serviceman who diagnosed the latest clutch problem said that this is a known, recurring problem on this Maytag model!
I called Whirlpool/Maytag and was informed that since this machine is so far out of warranty and no recall has been issued, I am not entitled to any remuneration for the repair services. I countered that this machine has a recurring clutch problem and should have been recalled accordingly. A very expensive washing machine like this one should not have had this problem and Maytag should have stepped up and issued a recall. Subsequently, when this machine fails again, I will not purchase another Whirlpool/Maytag/Kenmore product.

Maytag lemon, will not work

Purchased june of this year, a maytag centennial commercial technology heavy duty washing machine at home depot and it doesn't work. It's a lemon. Called several since its still under warrantee, they never showed up to repair it.
Repair service couldn't find the house, yet home depot found the house, set it up, took the money... Now has left these senior citizens without any washing machine to wash their clothes. Home depot took the cash money, now they don't want to repair the washer that's under warrantee. If you are a senior watch out, all these companies are out to take your money. They are taking advantage of the elderly, especially the seniors that are over 75+ years old. No one wants to help them.

I have ready many apologies from Maytag representatives on various social media websites. Other than apologize for the issues and problems you have with your Maytag appliance, have you had any success in either getting the appliance repaired (in a timely manner) or replaced?

Maytag centennial commercial technology washing machine is a piece of junk.Takes forever to wash.Anything that is the least bit heavy does not rinse well. The machine makes grinding sounds. The gears are messed up, when it is washing the rinse cycle light is on and when it is rinsing the wash light comes on.I am so unhappy with this machine and feel I have wasted money on this machine. This is the second time I will be calling in a repair person and I do not even have the machine 1 year.hart2ross@g mail.com

I bought my Centennial "Commercial technology" "energy efficient" washing machine from Home Depot in March 2011. It does not spin at all, clothes are completely soaked. Tried every mode, less clothes, wash several time with the same results. Warranty 1 year. Can't call customer service on weekends not open. It disturbing that working people need to lose money during the week to call repair service that only works during the week to fix our very poorly produced washing machines. Have we lost the meaning of customer service, have we become victims to supply and demand tactics. I was told in March 2011 all washing machines are made not to last more than 5 years. But I though Maytag would last longer than the cheaper brands because of the name. HAHA. My last Maytag gave me 9 years at $800, it lasted until Jan 2011, I was told it would cost $400 just for the part to repair just go buy a new one that is less expensive . With this type of return on the dollar it's cheaper to go to the laundry mat.

I am having the same problem and I, too, am furious with Maytag. I will never buy another Maytag appliance again. I have never paid so much for a washing machine, but wanted a quality machine that is built to last and to clean my family's clothes for years. Less than 2 years later, my machine is useless. The bearing has gone out and it will cost me more in parts and labor than the washing machine cost originally. If this is a common problem, then Maytag should repair these poorly made washing machines and not keep making more shoddy products. We, consumers, are not all just going to continue to buy your products when we know that they aren't meant to last more than a year. Ordinary consumers are having a hard time right now paying for expensive appliances that we need and use every day. We want and expect appliances that do what they are supposed to do for years. Selling products that don't work is irresponsible and bad business.

LIke others on numerous sites, I too am experiencing similar problems with my Maytag front loading washing machine. Terrible loud noise that sounds like a freight train in my laundry room and now the failure to extract water during the spin cycle. What is more, my complaints are nearly identical to countless others on the sites. Maytag clearly knows about a problem with its machine but then continues to sell it as reliable? Something we should pay good money for? This is unconscionable. It is inappropriate that a company continue to sell a product it knows to be faulty and take no responsibility for it. I expect the machine repaired at no cost and in a timely manner. It is, of course, horribly inconvenient for a family of 5 who desperately needs a washing machine on a daily basis. I am furious and will be until Maytag and/or Warehouse Applliance Discount Center in Agoura Hills, where I bought the machine, makes amends.

Maytag defective washing machine

This washer does not clean clothes. They come out dirtier than they went in. They also present with new spots courtesy of the washer. And this is definitely not energy star. It is costing me a fortune in energy costs.in honoring their "satisfaction guaranteed or your money back" policy they will only guaranty the functionally of the parts. Not the sum of the parts, which is the washing machine. There should be no reason this machine is still being sold.

Maytag service

renovated my kitchen 3 years ago, decided on purchasing new appliances which included refrig, dishwasher, micro, range, washer and dryer all maytag, of course they were always known for dependability, NOT! what happened to this AMERICAN product. in the last 3 years I have had my refrig ( MFI2266AES ) serviced 4 times for the same problem. Each time servicing has been a nightmare at the hands of AE service, Preway service and of course at the helm of my nightmare Maytag Customer service. The first mistake I made was purchasing Maytag products follwed by the second mistake purchasing maytag service contracts. I now have a refrig that is not working, waiting on parts since end of august when I callled Maytag cust serv they confirmed the parts were not available and recommended I GO ONLINE AND TRY TO FIND THE PART! This added insult to injury. Today Preway finally came to install my parts and upon Techs arrival he opens the part box and realizes he ordered an ICE TRAY COVER! when he should have ordered an Interface Control Board. Maytag continues to have their products serviced by incompetent companies and appears to have no interest in keeping you as a customer after you purchase, what ever happen to the DEPENDABILITY PEOPLE? Maytag had built their reputation on reliable products and dependable service, what happened to this American Made appliance. Here is a prime example of what happened, and why companies like LG and Samsung are gaining more and more customers everyday. The best advice I can give someone is Avoid Maytag. By the way forgot to mention I have 2 small children ages 3 and 4 and Maytag is not concerned about How I would provide food for them with a refrig that does not work. Shame!
This is not what I expected from what I thought was a reliable company.

Maytag worst dishwasher ever

Shame on me for not doing a thorough research BEFORE buying ALL 5 maytag appliances from the Home Depot. I didn't plan on having to buy new appliances for years to come BUT I can tell you that I will NOT ever buy a Maytag again. So far (knock on wood) it's only the Dishwasher Quiet Series 300 which has been a complete waste of the $600+ we spent on it. New home, new appliances, 2 months later 1st service call :-( Dishes are NEVER clean especially the glasses in the front at the top, sounds like it's grinding glass, soap doesn't dissolve so I have to re-run it a 2nd time (cha ching) All my glassware will have to be replaced when my extended warranty runs out and I have NO choice but to buy a new unit as I would NEVER sink as much as a Dime into this one (current service call is $655 to replace parts). FOUR service calls in less than 2yrs...the 1st three told me, less soap, change your soap, run the hot water, load the dishes differently, don't rinse the dishes, rinse the dishes, run vinegar, etc etc etc...this 4th service call (and I'm STILL waiting) is for a new control board and panel...dishwasher DOES NOT RUN...part is back-ordered til DEC 2 - family of 5 people! Man, I wish I had've come across this site 2yrs ago - DO YOURSELF A FAVOR...I STRESS, PLEASE DO NOT BUY A MAYTAG PRODUCT, the service people apologize for your frustration, however it gets you NOwhere except at your kitchen sink washing dishes for hours!

Maytag washer flooding

Twice now, after and during very violent rainstorms, my Maytag MAV2620AWW washer has begun filling with cold water and overflowing the drum. The washer is off, not set between cycles and unplugging it has no effect. I startsd the spin cycle to empty the washer, which worked, then the washer continued to fill with water. The only remedy was to cut the water with the external faucet. Opening the valve right away caused the washer to continue to fill. I went and did some errands and tried again 5 hours later. When I turned the valve I heard a gush of water and the flow began again. Five seconds later there was a click and the water stopped. The washer now worked as usual. I had someone come an look at the unit and he told me that low street-side pressure could cause the solinoid to drop out and allow the unrestricted flow of water. As the solinoid is electrical and not pressure activated I can't see how this is correct. Shouldn't I be replacing the water solinoid block? Any ideas would be appriciated!

Maytag poor customer service and maintenance service

Purchased a Maytag refrigerator December 2010. While still under the 12 month warranty we experienced a problem with the auto-defrost causing us to lose food and water damage to the floor. After scheduling maintenance/service calls and having someone come out to the house three separate times the refrigerator is still broken. Between my spouse and I we have taken 3 + work days off and lost wages totaling over $300.oo. At this time per Maytag customer service this is OUR loss and the only way to resolve is to continue to schedule maintenance/service calls and continue to loose out on wages earned, possible jeopardize our employment while still having no refrigerator.
I have never been so put out by a company before. I am literally beside myself. I have never been talked down to like I was by the customer service team at Maytag. The worst part is you can't get to anyone past the initial person answering the call. No supervisor, management, etc.

Maytag service issue

This company is horrible... First they show up and tech says I need a thermister and will replace... All is fixed and left... Then after a wash I get the same error... Called them back and they say they will be back in 2 days... Never show up... A&e says sorry and a tech will be available in 11 days... Tech shows up and says guess what?... I need a thermister... What a surprise... He doesn't have one but will expedite an order and overnight... Call them to reschedule once I have the part... Next day guess what?... No part... Call them again and they say it takes 24 hours to process then will overnight... Ask them to schedule a tech in anticipation of part arrival and they say they can't but will escalate and have someone call me in 24 hours... Guess what?... No call so I call them again and let them know what was going on... They apologize and promise a call tomorrow... No call yet gain but part finally arrives... Next day air from a facility 20min from my house... (Really)... Anyway I couldn't wait for tech which is now scheduled 8 days later, so I replaced the part (Took 5 minutes) and same errors... Now I am being told I have to wait till tech arrives to diagnose the issue... Wtf... This... Company... Is... Horrible... I... Will... Never... Use... This... Company... Again... Or.. Maytag... Since... They... Choose... Them... As... Their... Preferred... Service... Facility

Maytag warranty service

They dod not stand behind there products, my 1500 fridge is leaking after only 1 year of use. First 3 no call, no shows with repair people (HHGregg did not care about that), then when the repair guy finally showed he spent 30 seconds looking at it before declaring that the leak was being caused by a faulty electronic thermostat, "you know mister on these new models the themostat controls an aweful lot". Really, how come the leak stops when I turn off the water supply line to fridge while fridge is unplugged. Is it a magic electronic thermostat that works while fridge is unplugged. Even the maytag webiste suggests that this type of leak is usually caused by a faulty gasket in the icemaker line. It makes sense to me since turning off water line to fridge stops the leak, i fail to see how the thermostat is causing that.

Maytag = Fraud!

I bought a Maytag M1010 whole-house A/C system from an authorized Maytag dealer. The AC failed to work with multiple defects. Maytag could not produce any local dealer who is willing to perform warranty service without me paying. After incurring $878 out-of-pocket expense for the diagnosis and repair (at the insistence of Maytag’s insurance company), Maytag sent me a $35 refund check and claimed the rest is deductible. I filed a BBB complaint on Whirlpool because Maytag does not have an independent office after the 2006 acquisition. After an 80 day wait, Whirlpool just notified me that my AC is NOT Maytag because the production had been outsourced to Nordyne. As a result, neither the product quality nor the warranty service is their responsibility. Can you believe this could happen to a major name brand?!

Do not buy Maytag products and don’t let the “lonely repairman” advertisement fool you. Maytag has horrific product quality and ridiculous customer service. After a six month warranty repair ordeal on my Maytag A/C system, I have just come to the shocking realization that Maytag might not actually exist as a physical entity. Its management/administration is handled by Whirlpool, its manufacturing is decentralized and handled by the third parties (in this case Nordyne), its warranty service is handled by insurance companies (in this case Equiguard). So as a Maytag customer, I was actually dealing with a phantom operation. When I called Maytag Customer Service, I did not know I was actually talking to the insurance company who can’t care less.

So unless you want to repeat my experience, do not buy Maytag. Whirlpool is now the legal entity that superseded Maytag after its acquisition in 2006. Don’t buy Whirlpool either, because Whirlpool will not stand behind the brands it carries. I was told Maytag is just a brand they carry. Because its manufacturing is franchised to Nordyne, Whirlpool has nothing to do with either the product quality or service, nor can they compel Nordyne to respond to customer inquiries. If you do not trust me, please go to www.my3cents.com or /link removed/ and type in either Whirlpool or Maytag to read the horror stories from hundreds of customers. BBB complaint has tripled to 1400 per year since Whirlpool acquired Maytag, from less than 500 cases per year.

Haibo.

Here is my long story if you want to experience Maytag’s “Worry-Free Warranty”.

I bought a Maytag M1010 whole-house A/C & furnace system in Jan 2007. In a moment of weakness in my heart, I was persuaded by Maytag’s sales presentation which promised:

(1) “Worry-free warranty, 10 years parts and labor”: “The precision teamwork required to design, engineer and deliver superior products is a key component of Maytag’s appeal. Because of quality controls, such as computer-automated testing on each unit, Maytag home comfort equipment is produced right the first time to ensure worry-free performance.”
(2) “Worry-free warranty, 10 years parts and labor”: “To put you even more at ease, each Maytag system comes with an exclusive Maytag Worry-Free Warranty! Each M1010 Series product comes with a 10-year Worry-Free Warranty on both parts and labor, as well as Maytag’s Dependability Promise. These impressive warranties set a new standard of assurance for comfort.”
(3) “Maytag Dependability Promise”: “The Dependability Promise states that your entire unit will be replaced if the compressor or heat exchanger fails within the first five years of purchase (if originally installed with a matched Maytag indoor coil or air handler). The 5-year Dependability Promise is standard on the M1010 Series only.”
(4) “Additional Maytag Promise (All capitalized in the original document)”: “COMPLETE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS OUR GOAL. IF YOUR MAYTAG HEATING PRODUCT SHOULD EVER REQUIRE SERVICE, YOU CAN COUNT ON OUR NATIONAL NETWORK OF MAYTAG HVAC DEALERS. THESE HVAC-TRAINED EXPERTS KNOW YOU HEATHING SYSTEM AND ARE READY TO SERVE YOU. TOLL-FREE: 1-866-2MAYTAG.”

Looking at the “lonely repairman” picture on the sales literature, I thought I would be enjoying my worry-free A/C for the next 10 years. Little do I know Maytag is a total fraud who will break both the letters and the spirit of every promise, both verbal and written.

The A/C never worked. The first summer I turn it on, nothing happened. I call the Maytag dealer who installed the system. A guy came and refilled the Freon. In early April 2008, I turned on A/C, nothing happened. I called the same company and they had declared bankruptcy (even though they are still doing the same business with the same phone number and the same registered principal under a different company name). I thought I am just glad I purchase a brand-name product and Maytag would not be a fraud like its dealer. So started my 4 (now 6)-month saga with Maytag.

After spend half an hour waiting on Maytag help line, I was told my A/C is not Maytag but Nordyne who manufactured the product under Maytag name. So Maytag is not responsible for my unit. I called Nordyne, who told me to get help from Maytag Customer Service, without explaining the 1-866-2MAYTAG number is for the insurance company Equiguard. Apparently, Maytag does not have any customer service organization and let the insurance company masquerade as Maytag. This “Maytag” representative, Drew, reassured me I can use any authorized dealer with 25 miles of my home to get the thing repaired and get reimbursement. I found the only authorized dealer Anderson PHA and spent $68 to find out the coolant pressure was low and there was a leak. Drew now refused to admit the leak was caused by the product and asked me to prove it was not the installer’s fault. Anderson quoted for $735 for a full leak test but demand up-front payment because Equiguard had a track record of not reimburse them. I talked to Drew again about the cost, this time I felt like talking to a lawyer: I would have to pay up-front for the diagnosis and then only if the problem is with Maytag product would I get reimbursement from Maytag. I said that’s fine. When I asked Anderson to perform the test, I was told they will not do it even if I pay. Their on-going negotiation with Equiguard had broken down. Anderson was concerned that, if they did the leak test, they would feel obligated to perform warranty repair for which Equiguard will not adequately reimburse. (How insightful! I wish I knew before I put in my money.) I asked Drew how can I find a dealer in “Maytag’s National Network” to check my unit so that I can enjoy this “Worry-Free Warranty”? Drew led me to a month long saga to find a dealer and can’t come up with any. After running out of all options, I begged Anderson and asked if I can have my problem diagnosed if I join their annual maintenance plan as a preferred customer with a $175 annual premium. Anderson finally agreed to take on my case and I negotiated a preferred customer discount to reduce the leak test cost from $735 to $635. The May 9th leak test determined there were two leaks, one in the cooling coil and another in the condenser unit. Both are due to Maytag equipment defects and not related to the initial installation. I was relieved that Maytag warranty would finally get me covered.

The repair was performed by two Anderson employees on June 6, 2008. Anderson also helped me to fax all the receipts involved in this repair/diagnosis to Maytag. On June 23, 2008, I received a $35 refund check from EquiGuard for the diagnosis. I called Drew why do I only got $35 out of the $878 back? EquiGuard basically said the rest is “deductible”. I asked where did it say “deductible” on my warranty? Drew said “why don’t you talk to Larry?” Larry picked up the phone and said there is nothing he can do now or in the future.

I filed a BBB complaint on June 25 to bring Maytag’s attention. Because Maytag does not really exist, the complaint had to be filed under Whirlpool. Mrs. Pat Vanderbosch at the Whirlpool Executive Office tried to compel a response from Nordyne and Equiguard. After 40 days, I got a private response (no recorded by BBB) that Maytag cannot provide anything. The decision was made by Tarik of Equiguard and Mr. Joe Brandt of Nordyne, who is VP Sales/West Coast.

Specific to my complaint:
1) Maytag will not refund my $878 out-of-pocket expense caused by multiple Maytag product failures.
2) Maytag could not found a local dealer who will not demand upfront payment for any future repair.
3) Maytag will not explain which part of my 4 (now 6) month nightmare is “Worry-free”.

Maytag says they can not be responsible for poor product quality of another company (Nordyne) who lease its name. Maytag also takes the position that my now-out-of-the-business Maytag authorized dealer is to blame. I beg to differ: (1) If Maytag advertise its product under Maytag name, it is responsible to deliver the promises in its sales literature regardless of who is the manufacturer and the insurance company. (2) If Maytag’s product quality is good, I would not have this problem. This is not an installation problem. (3) If Maytag can identify any authorized dealer to repair my unit without demanding up-front payment from the customer, I would not be in this dilemma either. (4) If Maytag opted for repair when the dead A/C had been diagnosed to leak, I do not need to incur the cost of the full leak test. You just can not have it both ways. The responsibility is squarely with Maytag.

With regard to the fabulous 4 paragraphs of “Worry-Free Warranty” quoted earlier, here is my point-to-point rebuttal:

(1) Two out of the three components in my system failed, which is a good testimony of Maytag’s product quality. The A/C failed for two consecutive years since the installation in Jan 2007. My 4-year old son was unknowingly inhaling Freon the whole time next door to a leak. A check on Consumer Report found Maytag ranked among the most repaired brands across a broad category of products. A quick check on the website turns out hundreds of Maytag horror stories. Yet Maytag had the audacity to call this “Worry-Free Performance”.
(2) For all the capital letters and acclamation mark for the “Worry-Free Warranty!”, my unit fit every description, yet Maytag’s customer service line does not even admit it is a Maytag product. They insist it is a Nordyne product. Nordyne insist it is not their problem either and give me another phone number. Unknowingly, I was talking to an insurance company Equiguard who misrepresent themselves as Maytag. Equiguard refused to acknowledge it is a product quality issue, led me to an adventure to find an authorized dealer, duped me into paying up-front, and then renegade in reimbursement. Did I read “10-year both parts and labor”? Where does it say diagnosis is not covered? If not covered, why the $35 refund? Where does it say “deductible” that Equiguard now claims? When the product was diagnosed by an authorized dealer to be not working, why insisting on a full leak test that they now refuse to reimburse?
(3) Yes, my unit is less than 5-years old, and both the compressor AND the heat exchanger leaks. It fits every description for whole-unit replacement, yet Maytag gives the repairmen only the coils. The two service men worked 10.5 hours straight to dissemble the entire compressor using my home as the assembling factory. They kept cursing Maytag who made it “much worse than a new install”.
(4) What a joke! The [protected] number is for Equiguard, the insurance company who refused to help. Maytag substitute customer service with insurance company lawyers, and claim to have “set a new standard” in customer assurance. Yes, a new standard beneath LOW and almost obscene! After 4 months, Maytag still have not found ONE dealer who will service my unit without demanding up-front payment from me. Where is that NATIONAL NETWORK OF MAYTAG HVAC DEALERS?

I can only conclude Maytag does not have any intention to keep any of the wonderful promises. Maytag is a fraud because:
(1) It used sales practice/literature with fraudulent claims to misled customers into purchase.
(2) It manufactures poor quality products with multiple defects, yet advertised as “most reliable”.
(3) It cannot produce any dealer to do repair without up-front payment yet advertise as “dependability promise”.
(4) It made and then reengaged verbal promise in diagnostic reimbursement if the problem is related to the product. It forced me into full leak test then asked why it was so expensive.
(5) It failed to honor written commitment for “entire unit replacement” when the product failure met all descriptions.
(6) It cultivated a disorganized corporate culture that is at once incompetent and indifferent.

Please tell me why, as a customer, should I be led to run in circles between Maytag, Whirlpool, Nordyne, Equiguard and Maytag dealer, with nobody responsible for anything? I conclude Maytag does not have the decency to delivery on any of their promises, nor do they care what you think. The “lonely repairman” is indeed long dead.

Haibo.

The company that installed your unit is the libel party.
Did you call them to come and service your unit?

Any other service company did not make the profit off the install of your system; of course they will want to get payment for their labor.

Who sold you the unit, where were they when you wanted service? Where they a representative of the company that installed the system?

Did you research the company that sold to you / installed your unit?

Did you call the -1-800 number that is on all Nordyne units?

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your Maytag system. Nordyne does manufacture several brands including Maytag, Frigidare, Tappan, Westinghouse, Kelvinator, Philco, and Gibson. As a Maytag dealer and HVAC technician for the last 25 years, I can tell you with confidence that we've never had a problem with their warranty (which is now 12 year parts and (optional by dealer) labor).

There are ups and downs to the way Maytag does business. What's good for us (dealers) is that they have semi-exclusive protected service areas. That's bad for consumers because if a company goes "bankrupt" or drops the Maytag brand (or, more likely, get's kicked out) suddenly there's nobody there to service your equipment. For honest dealers, this works to great advantage for us and our clients as we gain a client for life.

With the description of your situation, I would say the blame is with the service company who originally installed your equipment. If they had been following a guideline (such as ACCA Quality Installation) you would not have had any issues with the equipment. It's very easy to perform a poor install that causes the equipment to fail. For example, if the king valves weren't sealed completely and the system leaked refrigerant, it would cause the compressor to go bad. If the furnace was roughly handled by the installers, it would cause a leak in the heat exchanger.

Our experience with Maytag over the years has been wonderful, but they are a very dealer-centric company who (rightly so) expect us to provide a high level of customer service. Choose your HVAC company carefully. They have to serve you for life.

Maytag failure consumer service

I purchased a Maytag Electric Range MER7662WS1 at Lowes in February 2011. After few months we found many rusty areas on the stainless oven door and on the stainless drawer.

On September 8, I called Maytag at [protected] to complain that stainless steel is not supposed to rust, A representative took initiative to schedule A&E Factory service to come to my house for a warranty repair, and assigned me an ORDER# [protected]. I did not request for this service call and naturally, I regard this is a warranty service or a service of quality check of a product.

On 9/19 a technician came to check the rusty area and confirmed that the stainless steel have rusted and the rust will eat through the panel. The technician called Maytag, and got the answer that Maytag will not pay for his visit because it's not under warranty. The technician then checked the warranty manual, but could find any statement that neither rust is cosmetic nor rust is not covered.

The technician asked me to pay $132 for his 5 minute checking service. I was so upset and called Denice at A&E Factory service at [protected] to bill Maytag directly. She ignored my request, said, I should take it to Maytag.

After couples of hours of waiting, holding & transferring, I explained to 2 Maytag customer service representative twice of my problem, and only to get a "Sorry, it's not covered, it's cosmetic", I insisted talking to a manager and finally got Melinda at Care Solution Team on the line, she too, refused to waive the charge for me and claimed herself a supervisor & decision maker and there's no one above her would resolve this issue.

I emphasized that A&E service call was authorized by Maytag, I did not order the service, who would have thought a service authorized by manufacturer is NOT covered under warranty? Besides, this representative failed to inform me that rust would not be covered, she should have known better. Therefore, I believe the person who initiated the service call to A&E should be held accountable. But Melinda never wanted to agree with this logic and kept saying, " we don't force customer to have home service and that you are liable for the bill.".

She refused to pay for the service and forced me to pay the bill from the mistake they made. She even refused to give out the person's ID # and name who called A&E.
She only documented my complaint, what's the point of their documentation?

If this is the tactic Maytag is using to categorize rust is cosmetic ( if rust can damage material, then you should not call it cosmetic), and ban customers from claiming the rust damage, so they can use poor quality of stainless steel on their appliances to save the cost, then it's dishonest to advertise that this oven is stainless.

A representative even said, Maytag should have emailed me with the confirmation of service call and noted that it's a non-warranty service, or A&E should have informed me before arrival that the service is not covered. All these were not true, first, I did not receive such email from Maytag or Whirlpool, if MAYTAG would have warned me with non-covered policy such as this, they should have the courtesy to call me too in case emailed was unreliably routed to spam box ( checked there & did not even see any email from them) or in case not read in time. A&E only informed me that they are coming next day, but no such thing as telling me service will not be covered. Even their technician did not know about the non-covered issue, and had to call MAYTAG today to find out.

Should the person who scheduled the service told me that rusty on the stainless panels is not covered under warranty, will I still allow the service call & agree to pay $132 for 5 minute checkup & watched technician leave without performing any repair?

I asked Melinda to let me talk to her supervisor but she said, there's no one can talk to me, and the only way to appeal is to write to the company's executives. The address is: Whirlpool corporate office
553 Benson Rd
Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022

I doubt an appeal will help me at all, I will take this matter to small claim court, I won't let them force me to pay the bill which I'm not at fault.

Maytag washer

We purchased an MHWE300VW12 washer in Sept 2009. Two weeks ago it stopped working out of the blue and finally had error code F71, or "heartbeat failure". This is apparently an issue with the front interface control panel. In researching our issue, it seems that MANY other people have had exactly the same problem, and it is due to faulty design. Maytag is taking NO responsibility for this. They were practically impossible to get in touch with and then offered no assistance, and were in fact rather rude. We now have to pay hundreds to fix it, as well as take at least 4 hours off of work, so we might as well have bought a new washer. We take good care of our appliances and it is not our fault.

I have the SAME thing. I bought Maytag since I could remember. They were always reliable. And lasted FOREVER! I bought new appliances, the Maytag front load washer and dryer and also a new maytag dishwasher to go with. The dishwasher has never done a good job, but atleast is turned on this morning. the DRYER door never latched well. I tried calling when I first received it and was told I could have someone come look at it for a service fee! Repairs would be ADDITIONAL. - we dont have time - or money - to have 1 person come look at it then another to come fix it. now today my WASHER has a F 71 error. I have had my "Heavy Duty Commercial Series" set for about 2 years for a family of 3 and now it is dead in the water. I dont care to make ANOTHER phone call to MAYTAG, to take off work and pay through the nose for it to be fixed. I bought the maytag to avoid this. Figured paying more up front was better than paying for it later; lucky me I get to do BOTH!

I have had the same problems with my current washer, I bought it approximately late 2009-early 2010. One thing I can't believe that I have heard is that these appliances are built to last maybe 2 years...that's ridiculous. My model number is MVWC6ESWW1 and SN#C00240617, I also want to know why they are not willing to cover for upgraded washing machines if that they know these washers are having problems.

Not very happy today - my Maytag MHWE550WJ just shy of 2 yrs old has the F70/71 problem - had a technician in today that told me it will cost me over $700 to fix the problem with the computer boards...Really! I can buy a new washer for that price - I can assure you it will not be a Maytag. I have owned Maytags for over 20 years and have loved them - guess the love affair is over!

Maytag Model MHWE300VW12 Same problem, control panel electronics..I use it maybe once every two weeks so unit does not get heavy use...they want $300 to fix it. I cannot recommend Maytag at this time, research on this machine on other sites has showed this to be more then a common problem, it is apparently a design flaw. I have not heard back from Maytag at this point but based on everything I have read they are not into customer satisfaction. If Maytag can no longer provide customer satisfaction then time to buy an Asian built Washer. Another American manufacture going down the tubes unfortunately, I hope I am wrong.

Maytag faulty refrigerator

Have a Maytag Refrigerator that is less than 3 years old. The control panel has quit working, and we are now without our primary refrigerator, and have to resort to the one in the garage while waiting for parts. This is more than a $250 cost that is ridiculous for the short life of this refrigerator. We have a 15 year old refrigerator back-up that has had zero problems. From other complaints we have found on Maytag Refrigerators, we are probably in a long haul for continual problems with this unit. There is absolutely no way we would ever consider buying another Maytag product.

Maytag not honoring warranty

I have waited three weeks for a repair appointment. I had to cancel and then reschedule as I could not be present for the whole 4 hour window needed. The repair man took all of fifteen minutes to tell me the tub was cracked, hence the water, a new belt was needed, and a new motor, but as there was rust present, the third-party binder company had declined coverage. He had already covered the unit and made no attempt to show me the damage when requested.

Needless to say I was on the phone with the A&E escalation department multiple times. There was no help and the repair person would not even cooperate with them when called. I opened the washer and the machine had a lot of soot and sediment consistent with the tub being broken. After cleaning the machine I found no rust. I called and offered to send e-mails of the photos which A&E would not provide an e-mail address. Essentially the repair man did not want to approve a repair that exceeded the cost of the contract and saw an out by claiming the frame was badly rusted over. Or he was quite dim and did not know the difference between sediment and rust. After the unit was cleaned we ran the washer. It was much worse after the repair man had looked at the machine and it released water in mass quantities.

A&E could not figure out what was going on and had to follow their policy of reviewing the repair man's reports on Monday. They told me to call back on Tuesday to schedule another person to come out to look at the machine, like people don't work, and save vacation days to use on companies trying to weasel out of their coverage commitment. I purchased a new washer as I do not want to continue damaging the wall while A&E decides whether or not to honor their contract. I work 6 days a week usually and took a day to be ready for the repair man. As he was a weasel and did not even start the repair, giving an analogy that the machine was like rusty car frame, and the company refused to put new parts on a rusty frame.

I really think A&E policies are a scam and I will be reporting the service to BBB, Sears, Maytag, and Lowes. As I cannot wait three weeks for A&E to get their crap together I purchased a new washer today. I will try to recover what I can for the losses suffered today.suffered today. I will also try to make sure A&E is not the provider of the extended warranty.

In order to escalate, it is not clear who you purchased the machine from. Lowes? Sears?
A&E is a Sears owned service. Lowes and its service plan administrator uses them as necessary. If you purchased your unit in 2010 prior to October, NEW is the company rejecting the claim. "Rusting" and any non-electrical/electronic/mechanical issues are generally not covered. You may have been duped in the contract otherwise. Whether Sears or Lowes, you may want to email corporate escalations.

Maytag refrigerator

Purchased a new Maytag refrigerator about 3 weeks ago from Home Depot. After about 4-5 days realized it was freezing everything in the refrigerator. Home Depot replaced the refrigerator with the same model and we got the same result. Like fools, after talking to Maytag about a replacement, we got a third one. Voila, the freezing problem was solved. We plugged it in at 3 PM, 7 AM the next day the temp inside the refrigerator was 70. The light was on, a fan was running so it was not a power problem. Home Depot is not to blame on this one, just Whirlpool/Maytag. Beware, Whirlpool also owns Amana and KitchenAid, so they all may be crap.

Maytag product substitution

Purchased a new Maytag MVWC200XW. When delivered, washer did not have the type lid as Maytag shows it has on it. When I contacted Maytag, they told me this machine, with my serial number should HAVE the lid that is on all of this model. Store personnel claims it does not, and that they called Maytag and was told it did not. They lied. Maytag is sending a repair man to replace it, but Lowes will never get any more business from my family. I was treated like I was trying to scam them. The website did not mention the SmoothClose (TM) door, but it is obvious that this wide/heavy door must have something to prevent mashing fingers. Better to do it this way instead of sue later for a broken finger! Hope millions read this and see that Lowes buys products that are stripped at a discount, and then sells them as a whole product; and then lies to the customer to get away with it.

Maytag terrible product

My husband and I bought the set of Maytag Performa Washer and Dryer about 5 years ago. This set has been a headache from day one, now the washer machine has decided to quit working in the middle of a cycle and I had to hand wash the rest of the clothes for our recent camping trip, not fun!. Then an hour later, the dryer wont dry the clothes, has very low heat temperature, so I have to run the dryer twice to dry a small load . I feel like this not what people would expect on a Maytag brand, I definitely didn't. I have a feeling that we will have to buy another set soon, because the warranty ran out and the repair cost will outweigh the cost of a new set. I would recommend the people stay away from poorly built Maytag appliances.

Maytag lemon

Four and a half years ago I purchased a Maytag Neptune front loader washing machine - and the nightmare began. I did purchase an extended warranty which is the only reason I kept the machine. It has been nothing but trouble, many service calls, many new parts. It would not spin out a load with more than 2 bath towels or 3 pair of jeans, it shook so badly we have cracks in our wall and ceiling and it had a bad smell inside, despite numerous cleanings. Things got worse when Whirlpool bought Maytag and the service nightmare started. In May it took me 5 1/2 hours to finally arrange a service call. Many times I called and was put on hold, hung up on, given the wrong numbers etc and finally got the call arranged only to find out they had not put the warranty information in the file so I had to start again. That call was a new pump and a new seal. It worked for another couple of weeks and died once again.
I got jacked around again by Whirlpool and the warranty people. If there intent was to make me give up completely, they won. Although this pc of junk still has a warranty on it, the garbage people will pick it up on Wed and take it where it should have gone a long time ago - the dump! I now have a new LG washer and dryer and love them. They do not shake at all and they spin out even large loads. I do not have to deal with Whirlpool ever again, which make me very happy.
