I received three bills from Labcorp that were either incorrectly processed, had no patient balance or were not on file with the insurance company. After months of trying to get these issues resolved with Labcorp, the bills ultimately got sent to collections. It seems that LabCorp billing is extremely incompetent and would rather send an account to collections than actually fix the issue so they can get paid. Labcorp is in network with my insurance company and by law cannot balance bill a patient unless it is an amount that was applied to either deductible or coinsurance. None of these were the case. One of the bills was coded wrong and they flat out refused to correct it and send a corrected claim to my insurance carrier. They insisted that the doctor is the one who codes the claim with is a flat out lie. I was a medical biller and coder for 10 years and I have a complete understanding of the billing process. Doctors DO NOT code claims for other practitioners. I have turned the matter over to my attorney and perhaps I will be the new owner of Labcorp when all is said and done. The bill being sent to collections has affected my credit score.
